    Hi
I used a massive tub of magnolia paint on offer in B&Q recently to redecorate our bedroom I think it cost me a tenner and did 3 coats with some left over - we were painting over mid-blue. Its a lovely natural colour and I think they paint showhomes with it in new builds. I had matching curtains and a lampshade in dunelm for £16 - I just washed the walls in the kitchen with a soda crystals solution and didn't need to paint at all
What make was the paint hun?we're hoping to do ours soon:D:D

Hi everyone and welcome to everyone who is new. Mrs B Im starting to do some of the diy now as oh tends to not finish things and like you it gets me down. Try the three box trick, one for throwing stuff, one for keeps and one for charity. Now I know I go on about this but Its one of the easier ways of clearing clutter. Make sure you also have binbags, cloths ,some water , brush , pan and hoover in the room your working on. Saves looking for them as you go along.
Im sorry to all those who have lost their dads Im sure they are still with you in spirit.

Thanks for that Natlie, I'll give that a go. Remember that you are legally entitled to extra rest breaks in pregnancy

Massive hugs to everyone who has lost their dad/grandads. One of my grandad's died in 1992, the other in 2000 and my dad in 2009. It's difficult and today doesn't make it any better, I've been trying to take comfort in the joy that our children have brought my OH today, it's his time to enjoy it and I don't want to bring him down.

Not done much today....nothing new there then :) x

Woke up at 630 this morning so was up and at them by 7

    Two beds changed

    Main bedroom hoovered and dusted
    DS bedroom hoovered and dusted

Ensuite blitzed, cupboards checked and list written of what is needed

Study dusted and hoovered, two years of paperwork shredded and out to recycling

Dinner made for tonight - not sure if needed as OH and DS are in Devon and not travelling back till later - but if not will be dinner for tomorrow

Went off to town and sorted DS birthday presents - he is not expecting anything as had a new phone just over a month ago, but cannot leave him with nothing to open on his day - he will be 18. Some clothes, aftershave and a big bar of chocolate - he eats more chocolate than I ever did!!

Treated myself to the feet fish - seemed only fair as I could not go to Devon due to work.

Now back home and starting on the stairs and downstairs, before the boys being me home a ton of ironing:eek:

Happy Father's Day - I lost my Dad 18 years ago, he never bothered with Father's Day "commercial yank crap" - his words not mine, but DS likes to do something with OH hence the weekend in Devon.

The hoover is calling my name

    See you later

    Afternoon everyone

Gonna have a cuppa in a mo, with bics too hehe

Have been and picked DD's dressing table - very 50/60's - needs to be rubbed down and then painted - I love the shabby chic look but I'm not very good so a standard paint job will suffice

I also picked up a sewing machine [freecycle] after I sent out a request for one - really nice lady offered and I accepted - great machine and I'm so pleased - I'll be able to make new double thickness curtains for everywhere now [I keep visiting the Preparing for Winter thread] once I source cheap material - may have to visit dunelm next week and see what they have left in their sale stuff

Washing machine has been busy and I've washed a rug in the bath so thats outside drip drying [may take a while to get dry especially with the rain we keep gettnig]

    Have a lovely afternoon everyone

    Hi All

Not done a great deal today, stripped beds and put WM on.

Have done loads of filing and been for a drive to the garden centre. I had some vouchers for my Bday and was going to buy cookery book but decided I have enough already, so still have vouchers for another day.

Trying to chill out a little now as the past 2 weeks have been manic at work and need to get ready for the week ahead.

Will try to drum up enthusiasm to do some ironing later.

Hope all are having a good day

Hi all, well we have been undertaking some major clearing out in our house this weekend. Hubby has been clearing the shed, I have been helping the kids with their bedrooms and breaking off from time to time to list stuff on ebay.

We have ended up with piles of stuff to go to the car boot sale and several piles of stuff to go on ebay so it doesnt look a whole load tidier but we did manage to take a car load of stuff to the skip which was a good feeling! My 10 year old has decided just to get rid of most of his toys so I am hoping we sell quite a lot of it at the car boot sale next weekend. It kind of feels sad in a way that he doesnt want toys any more - my baby is growing up!!!

I was interested in what everyone else was saying about decorating. We really need to decorate our house. Most of the rooms are wallpapered and we cant afford to get them replastered so I am toying with the idea of getting some lining paper to cover them then painting. We have absolutely no money to do it though and hubby likes to do the diy but just doesnt have the time. We need new carpets too. Its hard to motivate yourself to do it when you know you havent got much money to spend.

Anyway, we have celebrated our achievements by buying a bottle of wine to open later when we are finished. Its a rare treat in our house these days! My son wants me to help him sort out a few more things out of his cupboard so better go and help him while he is willing.

Just keep asking myself - why havent we done this before??????

    Hi Old and New Messies

I got loads of washing done today, but need to iron it now:eek::eek::eek:.
Hugs to those missing their Dad's on Fathers Day. I lost mine 19 years ago and miss him everyday. I feel so awful that I couldn't get to his grave today but time runs away with a new baby. He always said he didn't want us moping around a grave though so he would have rather me stayed with the baby than rush down.

It sounds like you are all getting on well with getting sorted out housewise.

    Have a good day everyone.

Not got much done today either - but had a lovely day instead! Did manage to get 2 large boxes of books etc to the charity shop yesterday - more to follow later no doubt!

Decided to go to Chartwell in Kent, DH suggested we take mum, and beagle came too! After that we came home to a double dose of the M&S dinner offer (nice and easy to cook - DH did that anyway). Then I knocked up a quick sponge cake, so we had that with tea after watching The King's Speech - very good film!

In between I managed to dye my hair and get the rest of the washing done and dried - just debating whether to get the ironing board out now while DH takes Mum back home - or just put my feet up with some knitting - decisions, decisions!

Hope everyone else enjoyed the day - brand new week starts tomorrow!
