The living room 'got it' - well half of it did! :rotfl: Dresser and dining table looking considerably better - I took everything (glassware mainly) and washed it all, and the dresser shelves - minging!

I got rid of some stuff too, in the charity shop bag - things given to me in the past which drag me back to less happy times - so what's the point of keeping them?

Got rid of lots of old paperwork too, which needs shredding - but Mum has borrowed ours, as she's moving in a few weeks time and knackered hers through overuse! It will keep!

Finishing off the ironing now - and found 3 more loads of washing to do too - I'm sure it breeds up there.

So - all in all a good, productive day - DH says we might be able to get some stuff done in the evenings too? Will see how we go on that one!

    Hi there everyone.
I have been lurking on this thread for a couple of days and have got to say you guys really gave me the kick up the bum I needed!
Since we moved into our house a year ago we have had to get rid of a lot of Mum's old clutter, all our clutter that we brought with us () and we're redecorating slowly, one room at a time including having the bathroom totally replaced. This has bred even more "Stuff" and I'm sure the local household waste site (tip) is due to give me a loyalty card!
I finally feel like we can start giving everything a home and then I *hope* that I can start to have some vague routine for the housework as I'm not naturally tidy.
Reading your posts has made me realise I'm not alone-FLylady etc just made me feel so inadequate!-so just wanted to say thanks. I may not always have time to post but I will be reading and be with you in spirit.

Time to clear the laundry away on the way to bed!

Welcome Md hughes Im not in a routine with housework . I tend to have fits and starts. Problem with me is that its a case of all or nothing at times. Im also not naturally tidy although I try. Oh and two kids are also not the most tidy so its like climbing a mountain at times.
Fly ladies are domestic goddesses and Id love to be one but I doubt Ill ever acheive gold standered.
Iv put the second to last wash in and blinds are back up. Getting the blinds back up was like a giant puzzle and although thy are up they dont open. Will have to get oh to have a look. Never was good at puzzles, lol.
Off out in the morning to do a few essentials then Ill see about painting the chairs in the kitchen. Thats if I can be bothered.

  • Hello fellow messies - haven't been on much as work has been a bit full on, and had b/day on Friday so have been busy with other things.

:j:j Congratulations parsnip - hope you are recovering from the C section and resting plenty as well as enjoying your new arrival.

DD helped me to clear my bedroom over the weekend - cleared out sheets/duvet covers, consigned many of the clothes to the boot sale box and moved furniture around as well. Now have much more room, floor space and a tidy cupboard to boot. It's so much easier when there are two of you.

House is still looking good apart from the living room which is the next to tackle, OH has agreed to help with this so should be great. Now looking at the decorative state and seeing how much needs to be painted to make it look good and easier to keep clean.

Hope you are all doing well, and that the baby steps are tiptoeing along.

Not long got in from work - day out in London with 40+ Year 5's from 10 different schools :rotfl: although I have to say they were all really well behaved - I just feel knackered!

Got a couple of loads of washing to iron soon then the lot can be put away - and I will be able to see my pristine clean dresser and sparkly contents I cleaned yesterday!

Not sure what else I will get done tonight but that's a start! Oh and I got a squeegee for the bath/shower yesterday although there are some similar ones in Wilko's for much cheaper - I just squeegee the tiles down when I'm finished - brilliant! Looks immaculate for very little effort.

Finished the ironing and putting my feet up with my new netbook (Very early birthday present from DH - I can lounge on the sofa and post now - multitasking!) :D
