Congratulations Parsnip Head and hubby:j:j:beer:. Welcome to your adopted family of messies Charlie Joe!!! I'm sure you'll be giving your Mummy a good run for the money!!
Good to have you back Parsniphead!:T
  • Hello again. After my first post last weekend I did manage to give the house a quick clean, that involves hoovering but not under or behind anything.
As long as it meant I could come home from work each evening and not sit here thinking I should clean up!
Even managed to get DD to do dishes each evening so the kitchen looked tidier!

I attacked the airing cupboard this week, ditching all the single bedding that was past it's best and sorting the rest of the bedding into keep or carboot piles. I even managed to put a load of pillows into some vacuum bag things I bought about 4 years ago and never got round to using!! I did reach my tidying threshold though, and all the stuff i decided to keep was just stuffed back in with the intention of arranging it neatly when it's raining (or hell freezes over!).

During the week we have eaten "proper" dinners every night which hasn't happened for a long time and think it helped that the place was tidier, so i didn't feel defeated as soon as I walked in the door from work! I've also managed to complete almost all of my ironing.... by putting the ironing board up in the middle of the lounge and leaving it there! Soo got p'd off with that so I actually plugged in the iron and used it!!

Today I have concentrated on my clothes.... I have huge wardrobes along one wall of my bedroom, stuffed to brim - yet tend to wear the same things most of the time and constantly say I have nothing to wear!
So I have 47 items ready to go onto ebay, a ton of stuff for carboot, a bin bag for the charity shop and a bin bag gone in the bin. I still have shoes to sort though.

I also have piles of clothes hanging over the landing bannister, which I'm ashamed to say has been there for close to 18 months.... at the bottom of it is a coat I bought in Next for £110 and have never worn!!!

Think I will drop in again tomorrow, it's suprising how therapeutic it is when you actually admit to living in a hovel!!:rotfl:

Fantastic news Parsnip head welcome to the little Parsnip. Love them when they are small so cuddley.:T

Well Iv cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, put washing in, mopped the hall and livingroom, cleaned the jail bird Billys cage, washed the front room rug and hoovered. One of the cats had peed on the cushion on a chair in the front room so Iv had to wash the cushion and seat with neutraliser for urine, not ,very happy.

Im now sitting down before starting the tea. Oh did the landings and stairs and son put the washing away. So all in all a productive day.
Great to see others having a good cleaning day .

Congratulations Parsniphead and little Charlie (and Mr Parsnip too!) If anyone offers to come and help - you hold the baby and let them push the hoover round! :rotfl:

Went for a 2 hour dog walk today with hubby and 9 other dogs (plus owners!) - lovely! Then collected the other two 'reorganise/declutter your life' books from the library - so might get on to those later.

Not really done much housework today BUT the bathroom and kitchen are a pleasure to be in - a quick wipe and they soon look pristine again, and they are sooo easy to keep organised now.

Off to watch F1 now - but I'm casting a beady eye over the next spot in the house to blitz!

Nearly 50 you have done so well. Reading it has made me quite exhausted and I feel a little bit guilty!
DS is really not sleeping well at all, I've been up most nights from 3 never mind the umpteem times I had to go in and settle him. Needless to say I am completely shattered! My nerves are in shreds and no housework has been done. My OH & DD have arranged for me to have a night in a travelodge tomorrow night it was £15!!! I can't wait! I'm packing all the things I need for a night of pampering. DD won a bottle of Pinot Grigio at a summer fayre this aft and has given it to me for my "little holiday". I shall make a list whilst I'm there of all the things that need doing aroung the house. I'm hoping to get a dongle and then browse and download pages from organised home:rotfl::rotfl:Managing to keep up with the washing up though!

Ah - sorry - the other owners were there too, all from our dog training group - so I didn't have 9 to walk on my own - but yes, I fell asleep on the sofa yesterday afternoon. It was better than a workout at the gym (and free too - very MS!) :T

Morning fellow Messies - starting to rain here and will be in for the day! So no washing today - might do it this evening then put it out tomorrow (I get mean about using the tumble dryer in the 'summer').

Mr T's for us later (once I'm showered and DH is back from dog walking duties) then I might make a start on the living room or porch? Been saying that for ages! But if I did, then I could start on our room on Thursday? Hmmmmm! I also have the week's ironing to do - and nothing will get done while I'm sitting here!

Happy Sunday to everyone - may it be productive! :rotfl:

Hi Helen welcome back. Well Iv spent the last six hours in the kitchen putting the last coat on the walls and ceiling. Iv cleaned the window frames with pvc cleaner, washed the windows, taken one set of blinds down and they are in a bucket soaking, washed the units down with sugar soap and scraped off paint. Washed tops of wall coubards and they were black. Cat sleeps up there. Washed sides ,floor ,fridge, freezer washing machine, drier dishwasher ,cooker and cooker hood.
I bet in the morning Ill be aching all over. Now waiting for second load of washing to finish,. Oh is sleeping!.
    Take care everyone.
