Hello, new to this site but absolutely loving this thread!
It's such a relief to know I have kindred spirits!
I live in a mess along with my dd and soppy mutt... I think I am a slave to both despite dd being 20!!
I work ft, and hate going home to such a mess every day.... a mess that needs decorating and some loving. But due to the state of the place I now hate this house and wish desperately I could move!!
My NY resolution was to sort it out, and it's now 6 months in and I have done little to improve the situation.
I did manage a carboot last month and this week have taken 5 binliners of stuff to the charity shop. I have 2 pine beds dismantled ready for a local furniture recycling project to collect on monday!!!
I have so much crap that I cannot even get into my dining room and the door is permanently shut. I have 2 sheds, also crammed full!
Like most of you I spend a long time deciding what I should do, but rarely have the motivation too follow through, this impacts on my depression and how I feel about life too.
I have spent today in the garden weeding and tidying so I can escape the mess inside......
I do try to iron every couple of weeks, when there is something good on the box to distract me from my hatred of the flaming chore.
I wrote a list last weekend of the jobs I really want to prioritise, and have done some of them but the rest fill me with dread....:(
My greatest distraction from housework is the interweb, and worst of all I discovered Scrabble on Facebook.... so too many hours wasted there I'm afraid.
I have read the first 13 pages of this thread and laughed so much, it has made me feel hopeful that maybe there is light after all.
Anyway I have rambled enough so better go do some dishes ... oh joy!:j0 -

Hi newbi your thread ring lots of bells here. Im fed up not being motivated but I find it helps to read the threads on the board and report when I have done something.
It sounds to me that your being too hard on yourself just remember you have acheived things.0 -

OMG Had this really strange feeling earlier ... I went with it and now I've cleaned the bathroom (vinegar was involved :eek:) and our bedroom.
Sitting down now till it passes...
Thought you were having a dizzy spell or a heart attack when i first looked . Then i read it properly and laughed . lol Bet the sudden urge to clean nearly brought on a panic attack it does with me.
Well didn't get the chairs done i started on one but decided it wasn't worth the hassle so i rang my daughter and told her if any of her friends wanted it they can have it free but they'll have to clean the seats. I'll even loan them the steam cleaner.
unlucky t i know the feeling well i keep buying books but won't pay out for a bookcase but i think i'll have to or we'll have no room left for anything. as for dvd's my oh and the kids had well over 600 so i invested in 4 big storage units for those last year when i got fed up of restacking the piles. Now need to sort them all and get rid of some they are all in my bedroom and i don't even watch them. I only own mama mia. lol
Nearly 50 there is light at the end of the tunnel honestly . I moved here just over 2 years ago and was seriously ill at the time so my oh my sons and daughter packed everything from the old house including all the carp and after reading here i finally have my kitchen decorated and all the carp gone from it just need to change 1 worktop and put the new table and chairs together and hallway is decluttered and painted and papered . Babysteps all the way. best advice i've ever been given . These ladies are so encouraging and understanding. :T:T:TCross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Hi Messies - havent managed to get on line much over the past few weeks - health is not great and the family dramas have raised their ugly heads again. Oh for a bit of piece and quiet.
And amongst all the chaos which is life how is the mess? Not bad actually. I am keeping on top of most of it with wee commersial break cleans and set tasks that need to be done. It has taken a wee while to get into the swing and OH has had to do a lot as I have been shattered the past week but all in all if someone came to the door right now I wouldnt be embarrased to let them in (this is my standard test for mess!)
I am about to have a wander through the board and try to catch up. Should be making a birthday cake but cant be ars*d.0 -
