My home is a mess

I've only been in Abakhan once and couldn't have a proper look as the boys were waiting outside, my son walks past it every day and doesn't realise how lucky he is :shocked:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

There are days when I can say it`s not really messy here.
This isn`t one of them!
DGD & friend wanted to come with us to Abakhan, so...
By the time the girls were ready & breakfasted on cold spag bol (!) and other dishes & mugs came out of DGD`s room, I just wanted to get out asap and get shopping. Picked up DGD`s mum, and took crisps, bananas and juice cartons to keep us going. BRILLIANT afternoon, we were there till they were about to close, lots of nice bargains, a really smashing girls` day out for the four of us. Lots of giggling too, and it wasn`t just the youngsters! Tired but happy, we got back here to not much of a mess.
Today it`s a different tale....
Kitchen - despite the almost Unheard Of event of DS doing a load of washing up while we were out yesterday (I reckon he was being appreciative of me letting DGD have her friend here for the weekend) you`d never believe it wasn`t a week`s worth of mess. The girls had pizza and salad last night, DS had cheesy crumpets, OH & I had cold belly pork with steamed pots & carrots & wilted spinach. Just about every plate, pot & utensil was used. And it`s very crunchy underfoot.
LR. - 2 wet rugs, one from last night the other this morning AFTER Dafty dog had been out. (She objects to piddling outdoors when it`s raining) Both washed, one draped over door the other on fireguard, very feng shui - not!
Sofa is almost hidden under 2 folding crates full of fabric. They`ll go into DGD`s room on sewing mchine after the girls have gone.
Hall -
DGD`s schoolbag, 2 other bags & 2 pairs girls` boots, and a small folding table - put out of DGD`s room as they need the floor space to sleep on.
DGD`s room -
A sea of spare duvets & blankets still occupied by 2 giggling teenagers. I will fold & remove the stuff later.
All in all, I reckon it`s been a successful weekend - and I have the mess to prove it!!0 -
Sounds good Emm.
After falling asleep on Friday morning I went to bed at 10pm and slept straight through till 10am on Saturday
Had a quiet day just doing bits and bobs then slept for 9 hours last night as well, if it's a side effect of the new meds I think it's one I can handle :rotfl:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
OMG! How did I ever miss this thread?
Flyladies wasn't for me, far too organised...
I've been suffering with depression for about 6 years, and OH has had progressivly worsening arthritis for the same amount of time. These days I'm pretty much his carer, which often means also clearing up HIS mess too...
We also have two teenage sons, who, to be fair are pretty good - they're making their Dad's lunch as I type (but you just know they won't leave the kitchen as they found it, and you know who will have to put everything in the dishwasher because they never use one bowl when two will do and it's full at the moment and they wouldn't think of emptying it)
My biggest issue is the bathroom - nobody EVER cleans up after themselves...
Oh yes, also got an arthritic Springer Spaniel who is incontinent (she weed in one of my Crocs last week) and a nutty Labradoodle who DOES moultPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
We'll, I should be hoovering, but I am flipping exhausted after booking flights to USA on babysitting duty!
It was horrendous! I had visions of over a £1000 each or indirect flights, but we made it eventually.
So stressed, I think I need a massage, a large glass of wine or dome chocolate to unwind.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Dibuzz, there`s something good going on if you`re able to get a decent night`s kip. Which Abakhan did you go to btw? I`ve only ever been to the one on the North Wales coast road, which I think was the first they opened, though there`s one in Chester that would be within reach too. My DS`s GF knows someone who uses the Manchester one a lot and loves it.
Rasha, Welcome!
There seem to be many `refugees` from Flylady over the pages of this thread. I`ve peeped in there from time to time, but never attempted to follow because I`m realistic enough to know it`s just not me! The Messies angle is `baby steps` and do what you can, and DON`T beat yourself up over what doesn`t get done.
Sorry, I had to chuckle at the dog weeing in your croc. My dear old Dafty dog never seems to go on stuff that`s lying around, just always soaks a rug when she`s taken short, or maybe it`s just a `dirty protest` when she doesn`t like the weather! WM is on it`s last legs, too.
Well, the girls finally surfaced, brunched on hot chocolate and a load of crumpets with various stuff on - marmite, honey, peanut butter, cheese spread & cress, lime marmalade - they would have tried other toppings but I think they ran out of knives for spreading. I have put all the jars back. And washed all the knives. ( I bought 3 x dozen packs of crumpets the other day, and to think I was worrying that they mightn`t get used up!)
DGD`s mum will be collecting her soon, and dropping friend off at home as well. The house will then seem very quiet...0 -
Emm, I went to the one in Manchester. I didn't know it was an Abakhan, my son just told me he passed a wool shop on the way to work everyday so when we went shopping he showed me. He and youngest waited outside so I didn't have a proper look, plus we were in youngest's Picanto which wouldn't have held what I'd bought if I'd been let loose long enough :rotfl:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

Emm, there's an Abakhan by that Frodshsm Street roundabout, near the Tesco.
Don't think it's as big as the Mostyn one, where you can wile away the day, and spend a fortune!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I`ve done a trash trawl this morning as it`s bins day.
OH put the bins outside the gate last night (he is excessively punctual....so I`ve had to trot down the front path with rubbish 4 times so far. And it`s drizzling here.)
No wet rugs this morning though, that`s something!
No idea what I`m going to cook tonight, except there`ll be broccoli with it as I should use it today. I have to nip out to Morrisons as we`re nearly out of catfood pouches and puss won`t be amused. I`ll see what`s there, if nothing inspiring I`ll dig something out of freezer (which is what I should do anyway really.
Then I might just potter or do a bit of cutting/sewing, if I feel inspired....0 -
I've hoovered! Well, the patch on the living room floor that I can see from my sofa... and that was after I had to put #2 dogs toys and tennis balls away... there's bits I can't do because there's an old mattress in the way. That sounds bad, but it's on its way to the car after spending the winter in the conservatory where I fell over it dvery time I hung the washing out...
Came tonthe conclusion nobody else was going to move it if I didn't.
Tea is a bunch of brown stuff that was in a freezer bag, I thought it was beef as I could see mushroom and carrot, but it turns out it's chicken... and some brown rice with a prehistoric best before date from my approved foods stash, pudding is Halva from the same stash...Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
