Not much longer now then Emm, I bet you will be glad when its over.
We've been out looking at cars today, as my eldest isn't really intereted in cars he doesn't want to spend too much or have to use finance but every car we've looked at has been no good because the seat doesn't go back far enough to get his legs in unless he drives with his knees behind his ears14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Dibuzz, I gather your eldest is quite a tall chap then? It is important to be comfortable when driving though, hope you find something suitable soon without breaking the bank!
Yes, I WILL be glad when the treatment is over. I know I`m very lucky to be able to drive myself there, and leave as soon as I`m done, not have to wait around for hospital transport, but it`s costing around £50 a week in petrol just there & back, without other journeys taken into account. (I`m NOT grumbling, but I will be glad when it`s over.)
I`ve just wiped and quartered a load of mushrooms I`d forgotten about, they`ll have to go with the pork burgers as I don`t think they`d have lasted another day....0 -
He's 6'2" but has very long legs.
We will have to go again but both of us had had enough and after another night of hardly any sleep I just wanted to get home.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Well, another day of treatment done. This time next week I`ll probably wake up early with nowhere to go! I`ve had quite a productive day - well, afternoon, so far....
Another wet rug this morning (when it`s rainy or very windy it puts dear old Dafty-dog off doing things outside) so had to deal with that, and when we got home I washed her tail & back end - I daren`t risk a full bath I think it might be too traumatic, so I just tackled the smelliest end!
I`ve had another rummage in the hall freezer and found some SF chicken fillets and a lonely lamb steak for OH as he`s not keen on SF. That`s tonight sorted, and now I`m glad I resisted the urge to nip into Lidl or anywhere on thje way home today! I also found, and removed, a small iceberg which was revealed under the SF chicken, and under that there was a small lump of brisket that I`ve taken out to thaw in the fridge then slow-cook for later in the week.
I started chiselling some more ice out but had to stop as my fingers were going numb....
I`ve also got a pork shank simmering for tomorrow, probably a soupy stew...round up any tired veg to throw in tomorrow before I go to farmshop on Friday.
Yesterday`s pork burgers were quite experimental but turned out really tasty, so I feel a lot more motivated again on the cooking front (about time!) and I really need to plough through the stuff in the freezers - now I can really see a bit of space I must resist the urge to fill it up again, which is what I usually do....I only have to see a decent Yellow Sticker and my willpower withers !
Think I`ll go and have another go at the ice again, every little helps...
Have a nice evening all. x0 -
I've done nothing today apart from a couple of loads of washing.
We went into Manchester, normally we go on the train but as there were 3 of us we decided to go in the car. I drove there and it wasn't as bad as I expected, we even found a reasonable car park.
We had dinner there in eldest's favourite thai restaurant and I had a lovely green tea in a glass with a flower bud that floated then sunk and openened, looked good and tasted good.
Youngest son drove back as my legs were dead after walking round the shops but eldest got 3 pairs of pants for work and youngest got a top so a successful trip and nice afternoon out as well.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Morning all!!
What dreadful weather (i know i'm always blabbing on about the weather, it's a 'farmer' thing! sorry!) gale force winds & rain here at the mo. I fed my calves this morning and nearly blew away going between sheds. I'm staying indoors until later!
Just going to have a quick flit round with the hoover this morning and maybe some dusting. I'm going to Newcastle tonight to see Miranda so i'm preparing a picnic for myself and my friend to eat when we get there tonight. It will take us at least 2 hours to travel over and we agreed that a picnic would be a good idea!
Hope the weather is better for everyone else!
jxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Not too bad here weatherwise but I won't be risking putting washing out.
We are going looking at cars again today, I've told him if he doesn't find anything I will chop a couple of inches off his legs!14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Dibuzz, your Thai meal sounds lovely. Good luck with the car hunting.
FW, hope you enjoy your picnic & the show tonight. No need to apologise about weather talk, I`m just as bad - part of my morning routine with my first coffee is check the beeb 5 day forecast online, then listen to the previous evening`s Archers on i-player!
Wet & windy here, perfect weather for the pork shank soup I`ve got bubbling away. I`ve just chucked some spuds in to go to mush, then there`s green cabbage, leeks & parley to go in after..
Another treat tonight is `Line of Duty` on i-player, and the nice thought that tomorrow is Friday again.
Probably a fair bit of laundry to catch up on at the weekend, but nothing urgent. (My definition of `urgent` tasks in the house is subject to review, depending on mood, weather, and if anyone`s coming to visit! As long as we`re all fed & comfy, I can cope with the guilt of procrastination!)0 -
We got rather wet but he found one, it's 10 years old (old one is 14) and cheap. He doesn't mind spending money on computers but not cars.
He did look for an automatic at first to make it easier for me but we gave up on that and just looked for one that fitted :rotfl:
That's 2 out of the 3 things we wanted to get done on his week off, the other is to give his room a good clean so that might get done tomorrow.
We have always taken Steff for a few walks when he has been off so we've missed that this week.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Hi Messies!
Dibuzz, I`m glad you found a car to fit that wasn`t too pricey.
I hope your son has enjoyed his week off, and nice for you to have his company and to share missing those walks with Steffi. He sounds like a good lad.
Chez-Emm....
I`m feeling rather slobby today, but I have done the basics in kitchen and done 2 WM loads, a few towels, DGD`s school stuff and some tops of mine. No chance of anything drying outside, so stuff is hanging around indoors.
Thankfully there wasn`t much of a backlog - the worst was my tops as I can`t use deodorant till after the treatment is finished - simple soap & water doesn`t have a lasting effect, and I have to change tops more often, even my slobby stuff. NO chance of wearing anything twice!! Still, only TWO more days to go....
Freezer Mission -
I`m doing quite well with this, I even found some frozen ready to cook yorkies that we had last night with the slow-cooked brisket. They didn`t rise properly but they tasted lovely. I`ve now got some salmon thawing for later, and chucked out yet another grey-looking bag of whatever-it-was! For some reason, I feel a lot less `creative` when I`m cooking stuff from the freezer that I`m trying to use up. So, to try to make up for this I`m going to experiment with microwave pudding. DGD & I are going to do a chocolate one this afternoon (Only us 2 will eat puddings.)
As we`re ok for bread/milk/veg, I`m NOT going near any shops this weekend, so I`m planning to do a Paper Cull. There`s a pile in the computer corner that needs sorting into 3 piles - Stuff to see to, stuff to shred, and stuff to go straight in the recycling, and as Monday is bins day I`m hoping to combine this with a trash trawl over the rest of the weekend.
I`d have done it by now if I didn`t feel so slobby today, instead of just sitting here looking at it.....
Hope everyone`s having a decent weekend. x0
