My home is a mess

I hope you've had good news about your niece Snookey - poor little lamb.
I have been busy this morning starting with washing in machine and a general tidy round. It's starting to become more obvious that housework is easier to do the more on top of it I get.
I have a list which I'm going to put on here to keep me motivated if that's OK.
Wash up - I should have done it last night
Hang out washing and pop more in
Tidy, vacuum and polish downstairs
Mop the kitchen and bathroom floor
Put the tea in the slow cooker
Pop to doctors for repeat prescription and then go back to collect it. Why oh why wont they let you ring up to order and then collect it later. I really don't want to waste two lots of petrol.
More to follow later.
I will come back to fess up what I have achieved or never be heard from again if I get nothing done.

Jasper, welcome!!!There was a feature on this very thing on Radio 4's "Moneybox" programme this Saturday, re-broadcast on Sunday. This guy was being chased by debt collectors Buchanan, Clark & Wells (BC &W) collecting a debt from 02 which he never even owed (never had owed, was all a mistake) and they wouldn't take no for an answer. I used to work with a team of debt advisers as an adminstrator and one of the things I had to do was chase down non-response to repayment offers on which they'd brokered on behalf of our clients. BC & W were appalling; they never responded to letters, you could only reach them by phone and leave messages to which they never responded, and of the few occasions I managed to get a live employee, he was one of the rudest people imaginable.
You might want to get a hold of that programme to see if it's advice can help you. Another option is to write to one of the national papers' money advice columns; it's amazing how quickly things can get sorted out with a journo staring down their gun-sights at the problem!Home looks like an explosion in a jumble sale (books and clothes and bric a brac sections combined). This is not especially Lazy Mare Syndrome but because it's dejunking in progress. I'm pulling stuff out of it's hiding places and sorting thru it and the intermediate stage is hell on wheels but I tell myself that it's short term pain for long term gain.
I cleared off a part of my desk in time-fragments yesterday whilst waiting for my very slow internet connection to load some sites and can actually see the wood! Ahem, I mean, I can acutally see the fake-mahogany-veneer-over-chipboard but that doesn't sound so neat. And, then, I
dusted. With a damp cloth, because it was soooooo bad. Can't do housework with too much clutter, can you!
Got to go to wr*k today and up to the lottie afterwards if humanly possible so will aim low; recycling up to the on-street banks on the way to t'office and keeping myself fed and watered.
Have a great day, Messies, but don't overdo it. After all, once we're all perfect there will be no grubby little secrets to share up on this thread and that's be a shame.......:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Maybe - if they are being that onerous - perhaps a one-off expense of sending them a strongly-worded solicitors letter pointing out that you are nothing to do with this debt/have asked them to desist on numerous occasions and threatening legal action if they don't now shut up (put in suitable legal language of course) might stop this?0 -
Bailiffs are not allowed to use force to enter your home, so don't worry about that. Pehaps ask on the Debt free wannabe board for advice on how to stop the letters and phonecalls.0

Ok, I've read through and caught up.
Well done everyone on our baby steps.
I've still been doing baby steps but I'm not seeing great improvements, the best thing I've done so far was bleach the bath mat with thick bleach and a tooth brush. It's come up really well, if only I could get to the black bits under the ducks, then it would be like new.

Good Morning fellow messies!
Happy belated birthday Rigsby! Welcome to new messies JasperConran and Sistercas just remember it's babysteps, you're in very good company here!
Candy Girl and Budding blonde sounds like you both have it rough.
Helen Jelly RATS ohhh nothing more you can do is wait now and block u your holes, had lots of mice over the years they get in through the bottom of the bin cupboard door and climb the pipes into the airing cupboard or loft. Had a beautiful cat who we had to have put down last July and now I leave out strategically placed mousetrap loaded with Reeses cups, apparently they love chocolate and peanut butter!
Grey Queen you are amazing finishing your alterations did you resign from the committee? How did it go? soup dragon the accumulation in loft seems to be a disease that has taken hold in my loft too in Yorkshire, lots of knitting stuff and crafting bits!
hart44 glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Taliahmai hope dd is feeling much better thank heavens for Calpol!!
Espresso 21 the problem with debt collectors has recently been covered by Don't Get Done Get Dom on BBC1and also on Watchdog. Never open the door!!
Snooky hope your neice is better?
gigervamp and parsnip head you both mentioned the Mollymakes magazine. I bought it on Thursday after seeing it on the internet and to be very honest I was very disappointed with it. £5 and I found that some of the projects were a bit pointless(maybe I'm a bit cynical?) crochet apple covers? Pom poms on the bottom of skirts? The quality of the printing and paper was lovely it's just the contents I wasn't keen on. I may subscribe to the 3 for £5 and see if it gets better. If I have ommitted anyne and I know I have I love being party of the messy gang with you all!!
Went to London early Sat morning to take DD to dance at the Royal Albert Hall spent the day testing different transport, coach, tube ,thames clipper etc had lunch with Dh cousins and managed to get to RAH just in time for show. I cried!! 23 dance schools performed their hearts out. I was certainly proud. I came back yesterday aft they come back tonight. DH had washed most of the dishes before we left. I did some washing and sorted the rest into piles. I actually unpacked and put away before DS arrived back from his godmothers.
This am have cleaned out two dirty handy baskets to resite into hall cupboard to put childrens plastic plates etc in. Intend to put clean sheets onto at least DD bunk if not both, she's slept in a sleeping bag for 3 weeks or more because I hate climbing the bunk ladder and putting on her sheets. Would like it to be lovely for when she gets home. Still seem to need to catch up on sleep credits will try and nap at same time as DS today. Just been half watchibg Mr Blooms nursery on Sky+ from Saturday, it was about being tidy and then you could find things!! My 22mth DS wondered what was wrong with Mummy laughing so loud. So our licence fee is now going towards educating our youngsters in tidiness. Worth every penny if the message gets home!! Have a good one all!0 -

Do you have the clear one with yellow ducks on from Asda? I've noticed mould on it too and I'm not pleased. Let me know if you have success in removing it.0
