Oh jasper welcome to the messy house . Don't worry too much about it . Baby steps wins the day every time. So far i only have my kitchen nearly sorted but since i did it god help anyone who leaves anything out of place or messies my shinysink. lol.

As for your dd can you not do the same as me i have 2 x 19 year old boys and if their washing doesn't go in the basket it doesn't get done and if they save it up and put loads out at once they wash it. I do not tidy up in their room i just shut the door then i don't have to look at it . My grandaughter who lives here keeps her own room tidy at 5 years old so if she can then i'm damm sure they can but they are just too lazy sometimes .

As for your other half just try ignoring him or telling him if it bothers him so much to get off his a** and help instead of gobbing at you as that is not helpful at all after being criticised i'd want to do nothing. Funnily enough he who thinks he must be obeyed was gobbing about all the stuff lying around here so i got the 19 year olds to help me gather it all up in the living room and anything that was his we dumped in front of his computer and on top of it . Took him two hours to shift it all so he could get on the computer he daren't just push it to one side rofl .

well not sure what i'll get done today i can feel yet another contemplation day coming on. lol

  • Morning Jasper - lovely to meet a new messy. I think if you read through some of the earlier posts you will see that most of us do little and often when it comes to cleaning and jobs. I prefer commersial break cleaning (wee bursts of 5 mins when I am watching stuff on tv) - eg for the kitchen - first break might be putting all the dishes in the sink to soak. Next break might be doing half the dishes. Next break might be doing the rest. Next break will be putting away dishes. So in the space of an hour (or as I call it my soap nights) I do the dishes. While I am running the hot water for the dishes I will spray and wipe one of the work tops. While I am watching tv I might be folding washing to go away or dusting or shredding rubbish.
I now have a permanent charity shop bag on the go - so that when I see something to go for chairty then it can go there and then rather than thinking about it too much. I have a bag in the corner of my room at the moment which has 3 books, 2 pairs of pjs (too big) one set of bedding and a picture frame. As I am a big scaredy I wont try and take it to the shop myself, rather Ill wait until the next charity bag comes through the door and then donate it. I have another 5 bags in the spare room just waiting to go.
I am watching a film I recorded the other day so I am dusting and hoovering in the living room at breaks. I dont do one room at a time, rather I pick the main jobs that each room needs to look ok (dont care if it is still dirty/messy underneath just that it looks ok - once the superficial mess has been dealt with I can then chose the big jobs I hate - like clearing under the bed or doing the windows).
Dont beat yourself about what you dont do, just celebrate what you manage and to hell with your OH - but if there is any messy that is generated by him dont hesitate to tell him to do his share. I have found that the more I have done in the house the more OH starts to do bits.

Must admit I have been a bit lazy about it since xmas hence the reason my bedroom is cluttered with storage boxes and bags :o
Every time I go to my mums she has had a clear out and gives me stuff to sell (I get to keep the money :D) and the lady I clean for on Thursday's gave me 2 bin bags of clothes she didn't wear or want for me to sell, she only buys expensive stuff cheap to her is Next :rotfl: so I need to do like Craftgranny ? :osaid to list 2 things a night :D but it is the post office thing that drives me nuts so I tell the buyers on my listing when I post so tough luck if they miss my postage days they have to wait till the next one :o I try to post on days I know I will be in town for shopping or on the way home from work (Im lucky I only work mornings and evenings).

    Hi all you messies:).

I haven't been on for a few days so i have some catching up to do with all the posts.

Well i'm happy, it was my birthday yesterday:bdaycake: and with the money i got and what i'd been saving i got a new dishwasher :D:D, my old one died about 4 months ago and i had really been missing it, i was so excited, i found whatever i could to put in it just to be able to use it :rotfl:. The old dishwasher is sitting in my living room, i put it on ebay last night and it has a bid on it already :money:.

I started cleaning the living room yesterday but still have a very long way to go yet. Hopefully i will get some more done this afternoon.

    Onwards and upwards
