Does anyone wanna answer my door i can see the jeovahs witness's knocking. Well i'm not answering rude or not my lounge is on the middle floor and i'm not taking my arthritic knees on the long haul up and down stairs just to say i'm not remotely interested . (polite version)

I have several ways of dissuading doorstep sellers/unsolicited callers.

    1. I make sure Rudy our dog is just behing me barking and growling. (he only does this because I won't let him say hello to people - he's a complete softy, but an Akita x Rottweiller can look very intimidating.

    2. If it's a nice warm day I get my 5 ft corn snake out and answer the door with him in my arms - it's amazing how many people DONT want to sell/discuss religion when confronted by a harmless snake.:rotfl:

    3. If I know I've plenty of time I ask them if they have a couple of hours to discuss comparative religion as I have an essay on this subject coming up. Funnily enough no one has ever offered to help with the essay.
Naughty I know but I've found each one works (depending on circumstances).

After the dog incident went into contemplation mode for a while. OH helped put netting cage over brussel sprout plants, and made homemade pizza for dinner. Put dishwasher on and then watched 2 hours of recorded TV while eating chocolate.

Tomorrow is another day :) and it will not be Friday 13th. Onward and upward with baby steps.

:j:j:j I finished the alterations of the garment which I've been meaning to do since I had it (3 prob nearly 4 years ago :o). I can't believe it myself, I'm literally grinning.

:) It was youse lot wot made me do it, being inspiration of the highest calibre, so THANK YOU all.

;) of course, as I was sewing up until nearly 10 pm, I didn't do the dishes and the kitchen is tending towards a "guddle" but we can't do everything, eh?

Another day, another muddle. Or possibly even a guddle. LOVE that word. Can't believe I lived in Scotland for half a decade and never collected that one.:rotfl:

    Good morning :D
    Well done GreyQueen :T :D
Talk of these local/regional sayings, my mum found a tea-towel with all the Norfolk sayings on and we had fun going through them :D
There was one I had not heard of even though my mum is a Norfolk lady so she had to explain it to me.
When we moved to Norfolk I was 14 and hated the sayings (Im a Beds girl) and refused to talk like the locals but now Im older I love it :D I think we should keep all our quaint sayings :D

Well the weekend is here again so take it steady and have a good one :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Morning Messies - up since 6 so have put the dishes in to soak, made my bed, sprayed the bathroom ready for a wipe around later, put last nights washing on the line.
I am now sitting with a cuppa watching NCIS that I have recorded and will do the rest in wee bursts. Looks like it will be a nice day here today.
Hope everyone is well - I am still catching up with threads. x

oh bb my daughter has pa and has the vitamin b12 jabs every 12 weeks i think it is but she always feels ready for the jab a few weeks before its due.

I am self medicating at the moment with sublingual b12 tabs to try and keep me going between injections - they are ok and have taken the edge off but I am still slowly unwinding.

Decided to do some ironing at 1 a.m. this morning (it's quiet housework and doesn't disturb anyone) so slept late and read my book.

    Aim for this weekend

    1. Get archiving into box and into the loft.
    2. Make flatbreads for lunch (this will involve cleaning the kitchen firs)

CBA with anymore of a list - already daunted by two entries. Will make up the rest as I go along ;)

Have a good weekend fellow messies - to those with health problems be gentle with yourselves - you are more important that a dust free house. Onward and upward.

    Morning All

Haven't posted for a while as I don't tend to do much housework during the week, I am usually too tired after work (or maybe that is an excuse).

I worked from home yesterday and did get a bit of housework done in between phone calls and emails. I like to do that so it means I have less to do at the weekend so I can relax a bit as I feel that is what weekends are for.

So the bathroom, kitchen and half the front room is done, just need to finish off in the front room and then have some ironing to do. Does anyone else tend to run out of steam and not really do the upstairs?

My room desperately needs doing. It was my 50th a few weeks ago and a friend put some '50' sprinkles in a bag which got spilt across my bedroom floor and they are still there  I usually stand on them and end up with one in my bed, which as my daughter says is a great reminder of my age each morning :rotfl:

And as for my daughter's room, well we call it the black hole. Because it is bigger than mine, stuff gets dumped in there until it gets put away, but that never seems to happen, so it is just a mess. The thing is she sleeps in on a saturday (when I usually do the housework) so I leave it so I don't wake her and then it never gets done!

  • Tenmah - I really dont have the time (or the inclination) to blitz upstairs and downstairs in one weekend so I alternate.

This week upstairs will be blitzed while downstairs will be tidied, bit of a dust and a hoover and then I swap the following week. If I do end up with some free evenings in the week (which is rare) I do a bit extra.

I try and do a bit while tea is cooking and I do try and keep on top of the washing and ironing but May is v busy volunteer wise (I'm in the army cadet force). I am also trying to get fitter and walk the dogs more often so sometimes something has to give!

Could your daughter perhaps do half an hour each evening? Her room would soon get done then.

    Hope that helps

    Morning all

I'm so angry I'm shaking Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have just discovered that we have RATS - I've a bit of a phobia about small furry animals. They have moved in to where the hole in the wall is for the tumble dryer - there are gazillions of the small polystyrene balls [that insulate the walls] all over the place and its windy here so they are blowing everywhere. I know its rats cos next door had them and put poison down - they have just driven them here. I phoned DH in a state and he told me I was over reacting, calm down and they are only small rodents - can you imagine how that went down - we are now arguing by text!!! He's at work till 3ish and then he will be going out there and sorting it as soon as he gets in or else.

Anyway - I have done a few bits so far this morning - WM x 2, Tumble x 1 [in the vain hope the rats will move out] DW emptied and more put in, worktops partially cleared

    See you later
