  • Hi everyone!!!

Hope you are all ok?? Haven't had a chance to read old posts but i will try over the next few days.

Sorry for being MIA, had a lot on over the past couple of weeks and have started to feel the pressure a bit, I have even been going to bed in an afternoon which i haven't done since my depression was really bad :(. I've felt better over the past few days, i think the nice weather has helped so i'm on a mission (again) to get things sorted! :rotfl:

I put some washing out on the line today, it was so nice to be out in the sun, it made me start thinking about the veg plot which has been rather neglected over the past year so i'm determined to sort it this year!

Does anyone else grow their own veggies??

    Jxxxx
    It's a farmers life for me......:j
  • A little more progress here. Some trousers that don't fit anymore or are past their best have gone to the charity shop. Also 5 pairs of shoes. How on earth did I get 5 pairs of shoes I don't need? My interest in shoes begins and ends at their ability to keep my feet protected from the elements. Two pairs looked barely worn and didn't even fit properly. At least they're gone now.

I keep meaning to give this whole place a good clean each weekend but I end up sleeping in and after that my resolve has pretty much gone. Not too bad at the moment though - I'd have no issue with letting the meter reader in. Off now to hang up a load of washing and do the dishes so I can turn in with an empty sink and a clean conscience.
  • Hi Messies
FW, good to hear from you again. I`m glad you`re feeling better again, there`s no doubt that a bit of bright weather helps lift the mood, but you have such a busy life there`s no shame in needing a siesta when you can!
Re Veg growing, good luck with your plans - I am no gardener, but last year I did have a couple of half-barrels with runner beans which attracted and delighted every snail in the vicinity. We did get a few beans to eat, and the red flowers were nice though!
My garden is large & wild, loads of birdfeeders in the apple trees, and a couple of lavender patches. My `mission` out there is to put up another `Bee-Hotel` (I have 3 already) and to grow more nasturtiums & marigolds get them to spread like `weeds` - they did well last year and one patch almost swamped their surrounding nettles!

Grousescot - well done on your shoe-ridding. To be honest, my interest in shoes is mainly whether they`re comfortable or not! But I do have a few pairs that I keep because they look more presentable and are comfy enough if I`m not having to walk a lot. (eg pub!)
"OK to let the meter reader in" is a good yardstick, nice one!

    Messy Status Report -
I`d let the meter reader in too - but thankfully the meters aren`t upstairs!! Kitchen is ok, except floor. LR is ok except top of dresser. No de-messying, but nothing getting any worse.
DS`s GF`s visit going nicely, I made a microwave sponge thing
yesterday (thanks to OS posters help), and a nice rich HM broccoli & stilton soup using frozen Christmas stilton, with `part-baked` crusty bread rolls. It all went down well, without need for shopping & much exertion in the kitchen.
Nothing planned for today except idleness and an early night as I`ve got an early start tomorrow going in for this scan so conserving energy today!
Hope all Messies are having a productive week x

    hi everyone,

A beautiful sunny day here today so I have 3 airers full of laundry outside, all the windows are open and the house is feeling fresh. On the down side I am feeling a bit yuck about our kitchen and bathroom, they're grim and I don't think they ever look great even when they're super clean. I know I'm partly feeling down about it as a new kitchen and bathroom is going in next door. I'm not jealous and I can still remember how much I disliked having a new kitchen fitted in our old house, but sometimes no amount of cleaning is going to make it better!

On the plus side, the sun is making everywhere look very pretty and big grey bun is much better, we've made it to the end of another month on budget, the pantry is still well stocked and I batch cooked yesterday so I don't have to do much in the kitchen for the next couple of days. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow and my best mate is coming to visit on Friday. Can't be bad.

Well done on the shoe chucking Grousescot. Hope you do take the time to relax before your early start tomorrow Emm. Hope you're all having a good day.

I've taken Friday off work this week as we're going away for the weekend, so tomorrow is "fake-Friday" for me. Which makes today fake-Thursday, except I keep thinking that its actually Thursday which would be the end of the week... and then I remember and get all disappointed again! I even thought Emm should be going in for the scan today & got confused reading this morning's post. I think I need a holiday!

I've also taken Monday off to recover from the weekends exertions and do the basic weekend-demessying jobs that won't happen because we're away, but OH keeps coming up with things I can help him with if I'm not going to be in work. At this rate, I can see me needing the rest of next week off as well to recover from that! All I can say is roll on easter - long weekend and nothing planned (yet!) ;)
  • Alec E, I`m glad your grey bun is doing well. It`s sunny here, but still way too cold to leave windows open. Re kitchens - my kitchen hasn`t looked great in a LONG time (even when super-clean, which is rare!) but I couldn`t face the thought of a re-fit either. When it does give me the glums I sometimes do a bit of re-arranging, put things I like where they catch my eye for a bit. Anything from my big orange jug with some fresh parsley in it to a change of utensil pot, or the `pseudo le creusot` on the worktop instead of in LR dresser for a while (swop with spice basket or slow cooker etc.) I am easily distracted by anything yellow or orange...

Sonastin, I get those `time-warp` days a lot, but usually to do with working shifts - and so do many of my colleagues. It`s awful when a patient asks what day it is, and nurses have to debate over their answer, despite knowing the date because we have to write it dozens of times per shift! On the plus side though, it helps make the patient not feel silly for having to ask!
I hope your weekend away goes well, and it`s good to feel you have a `catch-up` day after it - sensible move, that.

    Hi Messies.

Have only very quickly read through posts, so I've not remembered anything much.

However, Alec e, glad to hear grey bunny is better now (you can tell where my priorities lie, can't you?)

FW, have wondered how you were. Sorry to hear you've been really down, but the sun does make a difference, doesn't it?

Emms, didn't read it, but have you had your diagnosis yet, and how are you?

Grousescot, I'm not a great shoe person, either (tend to waer wellies or trainers more than any other shoes), but I know I ahve two pairs that have hardly been worn.

De-messying chez Bear has been a bit hit or miss. Washing's under control, bathroom's clean, and the house was vacuumed today, BUT I have been a bit under the weather - think it MAY be diabetes, so I'm having a blood test done tomorrow. The other possible reason is that I spend a lot of time on the computer doing family history searches and, although I don't realise it, it may be affecting my sleep patterns, so I'm going to have to return to other hobbies in the evenings.
  • Bearcub my son has put a programme on our computer called Flux that adjusts the colour of the screen in the evening. He suffers from insomnia and the brightness of the computer screen was definitely part of the problem. I certainly notice a difference between my computer and the one with the flux programme on it. The one with flux tends to make me sleepier in the evenings whereas the other one wakes me up.

Maybe something like that might be worth you looking at if you use computers in the evening.

    Morning Messies.

RL, thanks for that, but I have an 'eco' setting on my computer screen, so it can be turned down 50 or 75% less bright, and I've already turned it down. It's a new screen, and the original brightness hurt my eyes! Last night, I sat and watched 'Child of our Times' (Robert Winston is someone whose work I greatly admire), and did some cross-stitch which has been greatly neglected over the last couple of years. If I want to continue doing family history in the late evening, then I have have plenty of paperwork to sort. :)

Blood test done, just have to wait for the results now. Wish the GP had told me that the health centre doesn't open until 8.30 - I could have had another 10 minutes in bed.

Not sure about de-messying today, but mucking out (the stables, not the house!) comes first. OH and I are out for dinner tonight, an early celebration of my birthday.
  • Hi Messies.
Bearcub, these early morning appointments are killers, aren`t they! I hope your outcome is ok, but enjoy your meal tonight and HAPPY BIRTHDAY XX(HUGS)XX in advance!
How long do you have to wait for your results? The norm at our GP surgery is a week for bloods and same for x-ray stuff. (Frustrating when I know if I was at work one of our docs could pull them up on the computer for me within hours!!!) As it happens today, the lovely radiographer (a nodding acquaintance rather than a colleague)said she`d fax my stuff to the GP today, so have made appt for tomorrow evening & cancelled next week`s.
I went in just as the waiting room was filling up with pregnant ladies, and feeling like I stood out like a sore thumb!
Radiographer said she could see a Large bag of fluid (what I wanted to hear as that`s what a cyst looks like. I prefer this to alternatives!) but couldn`t get the ovary clear so I`ll probably get sent for a CT scan before they pronounce any definite diagnosis and decide what to do with me.
Hey Ho, you can only take stuff as it comes.
Somewhat heartened and encouraged by events, I persuaded OH we needed to nip into Mr M`s on the way home, didn`t feel up to doing a full reccy but got bread and 2 big YS pork shoulder joints which are in the oven now! I`ll treat him to a roast pork dinner tonight, but by then he`ll have to help with it as I`m running out of steam already. (I`ll cut up & freeze the rest for curries, it`s much nicer than rubber chicken)

NO de-messying on the cards here today. It`ll keep! It`s sunny and very mild, so I`m going to sit outside for ten mins with a coffee and Daftie-dog, we`ll take things easy this afternoon.
Hope you`re all having some of this sunshine too. x
