YL, as there`s stuff being dredged up with your DS I think it`s having a knock-on effect on you that`s made you dredge some thoughts you don`t normally think too. It must be difficult, but you being the one who ends up absorbing most of the impact is because you`re the one closest to him. It doesn`t mean you`re the one he`s `nice` to, but it does mean you`re the one he trusts enough to be `not nice` to - crazy, innit? The lunch out and chat sounds a good idea, worth repeating.
Re whether being "in the business" makes going into hospital better or worse - there`s 2 sides to that! Knowing all the worst-case scenarios is a down-side if you let your head go that way, but that way lies madness. Knowing some of the staff is a boon, and being where colleagues can pop in between visiting times is another. BUT - I was told today that my op may have to be in another hospital since 2 trusts merged - my consultant now works at both, so either way he`ll be doing it, but it`s further from home and the folks I know. It`s all very `wait and see` at the moment, but at least I know what they`re doing...I`ll have all my `lady-bits` (which are redundant now) taken out with the cyst, no biopsy first,so defo NOT a `keyhole` job. Apparently this is pretty standard practice for a Thing this size in a post-menopausal patient. They`ll only be able to tell if there`s been anything untoward lurking after they`ve got it all out and inspected it, and they won`t have anything to look at till the op which isn`t likey till 5-6 weeks hence - SO, no point indulging in any faff till then, I shall continue gently pottering pale & interestingly, and try to stop being like a bloomin` medical soap!
Messy-wise, I shall continue to delegate. The Menfolk are learning stuff all the time.
Have a good weekend Messies everywhere. x0 -
:rotfl: I love the pale and interestingly, Emms. You sound like a Bronte character.0

Now there cant be an upside of needing hospital treatment but if there was then surely this would be it would it not? And maybe they are realising how much you normally do which is no bad thing either. Glad you have got a bit more info about whats going to happen with your op and you never know, you might get your "own" hospital in the end.
DS continues to be on some sort of emotional rollercoaster which is very draining. Got a letter from the lovely DWP this week about him moving onto the new PIP benefit next year when he is 16 - could really do without thinking about that at the moment.
On the messiness front I thought I was fairly up to date then turned my back for a moment and the house was a mess again. DS2 came home with a bag of wet muddy PE kit then went to footie training with his brother and they both got wet through again. I am drowning in washing and may have to resort to using the drier.
Well its Saturday tomorrow and nothing much planned which is nice. Weather looks terrible and I could just do with a day pottering about.0 -
My friend came to help me to clean and tidy today, which was a real help, I was able to help her in my turn with some bits and pieces she needed.
The kitchen and bathroom are now properly clean, a few things need relocating but she can work much faster than Arthritis Queen here and her visit was really worthwhile.
Not looking forward to the forecast of snow for the weekend and next week (Not AGAIN!!) We haven't had mega, mega-deep snow this winter but this will be about the sixth separate time we've gone from grass to snow outside.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Hi Messies.
Bearcub, I found a lot of my really old jottings from some troubled eras years ago (letters I didn`t send, etc...) while I was on a shredding binge several weeks ago. It`s easier for us to look back at these with the perspective of a decade or 2, when Life has moved on. So much harder for a troubled teen.
Re `P & I` - I can out-Bronte them if I put the effort in!
YL , "turned my back for a moment and the house was messy again" - yup, that`s when it happens! I am beginning to think that my messy status not getting any worse is because I`m here all the time at the mo, not able to turn my back on it really, so the Messy Pixies aren`t getting a chance!
The best thing about the Menfolk`s present learning curve is partly them realising how much I normally do here, and also realising that they have to co-operate with each other (mainly DS taking his head out of his bottom.) Fair do`s for both though, they just need telling what and when. I`m hoping this will become apparent to both, eventually, and they`ll just get on and do stuff...
Re muddy PE kit - the worst one I ever had was DS`s , years ago - he`d bought a bottle of milk on the way home, decided not to drink it till he was home, then forgot about it...the top came off and by the time the bag was looked into it was all mouldy, muddy yoghurt all over his kit. Yeuch!
Mcculloch, it`s lovely that your friend helped you like that, and that you were able to reciprocate too. I`m with you on the weather forecast - I HATE that white stuff, never liked it even when I was a child. (WHY should I have wanted to go out and play in it???)
Messy Status report-
DGD is now in residence. She has fed her uniform & PE kit into WM, and done her stuff under instruction, and taken it out and put it all on hangers. Lovely.
Later we are going to Commit Pie. Sharing a puff pastry sheet, I`ll do one with last night`s leftover chicken and some previous SC ham, she`ll use her 3rd of the pastry to make a cheese & tomato Thing.
Kitchen floor is pretty bad, but pointless getting anyone to do anything strenuous about it as cat & dog in & out with wet feet, people in and out of kitchen so it wouldn`t even dry before it got yucky again - so! it will get worse before it gets better, and there we are.
LR reasonable, though looking a tad `lived in`.
Tomorrow I`ve decided OH & I are going to the pub for Light Afternoon Refreshment. Haven`t been since my abdomen started being silly, and I have decided that a little Real Ale, in moderation, might do me good. OH has agreed because I said we`d bring a pint home to SC some beef in for Monday! It will be nice to wear my only decent trousers that still fit comfortably for an outing that DOESN`T involve any doc-bothering, for once!0 -
Hi everyone,
Not much to report here, just keeping things ticking over and done a bit of wardrobe decluttering and refilling after a successful shopping trip. That's about it. Big grey bunny chewed through the laptop cable this week but thankfully the new one arrived quickly (grey bunny is fine of course!).
Hope the real ale does the trick Emm.
Hope everyone gets some time to relax this weekend.0 -
YL - the thing to remember with DS is he's a teenager. I know he has all sorts of other problems which might be magnifying the current trouble but as you've been on a bit of a "what if" trip, its worth remembering that even if he didn't have the other problems he'd still be acting out and trying his best to make your life miserable at the moment. Its what 15 year old boys do to their mothers!
Emm - I have to disagree. Messiness doesn't only appear when you turn your back. I have seen it happen right in front of my eyes too. Perhaps for folks who aren't as lazy as me, it only happens when their back is turned because they'd do something to stop if it they saw it happening. Me? I can't be bothered :rotfl:
Buffy - did you manage to get stuff done before your mother arrived home? I hate it when someone else's deadline undoes all my good work! And when it comes on top of a bad week at work it makes everything seem so much worse. The easter holidays can't be far off now though?
Messy-status report chez Sonastin... things are looking pretty good. OH has been on a tidying frenzy this week. I thought it was because my cousin was due to come for dinner last night but when he remembered that, he felt the need to tidy some more! As it happens, she didn't make it but at least the house is tidy now. My mum and brother and his family are coming for mothers day lunch tomorrow so its not likely to stay tidy for long. My mum thinks I'm mad for inviting them on the same weekend as my cousin was supposed to come but I did point out that it meant the house only needed clearing up once0 -
Hi everyone. Iv been missing again so still trying to catch up on the posts. Emm hope things go well with your op.
Its been a rotten start to March as my nan died on the second she was a few months off her 99th birthday. My dd came back from a school residential passing blood in her urine turns out to be a water infection and my best friend has been ill.
Lets hope the rest of this month is better.
Now Im going to promise to get on top of all the housework that Iv neglected . Its going to be sort out and chuck out for the next few months.
Id like to walk into a room without tripping over stuff, losing things and having to move mounds before Im able to clean.
Take care everyone and hugs.0 -
Hi Messies.
Snookey, lovely to hear from you again! So sorry about your Nan, and I hope your DD and your friend are better. ((HUGS)), you`ve had a lot to deal with Bless you, no wonder some of the housework has had to take a back seat! Good luck with your clearing-out intentions, and in the meantime just clean around the mounds, eh?
Alec E - I`ve decided not to do ANY clothes sorting till after my op, as there`s a fair chance that some stuff will fit me again eventually! I`m glad your grey bun was unharmed by the cable-chewing, he could have bitten through something lethal. This always worried me when we had our ratty boys, it was great to let them roam free sometimes, but I always felt I had to watch them! I read somewhere that they chew cables because they seem like juicy roots.
Sonastin, It`s great that your OH is spontaneously tidying, and let`s hope the phase lasts! Enjoy your visitors today, even if the place gets untidy a bit, it`s lovely to have a really tidy room for a while. If you don`t have visitors then you can blame Entropy.
Entropy has occurred in my LR overnight. Coal dust has appeared on white-ish wooly rug, Daftie-dogs downstairs bed has been moved nearer the hearth (? for the cat?) and the Flat Surface top of nursery fireguard has DGD`s empty PE bag, the cat`s food dish(?!), an empty coffee jar, and one of DGD`s trainers - randomly arranged there since I went to bed last night. DS was still up - not that I`m blaming him, it`s just that Entropy seems to follow him around....
It`s snowing lightly and really cold, but taxi will be warm and pub has a nice log fire... then leeky mash/yellow fish & poached eggs later. DS has volunteered to do the spuds, too!
I hope all Messies out there are having a good day, whether you`re Mums or not.x
Drags self off to get ready for pub....0 -
Hello messies, and happy Mother's day to all you mums out there!
My own beloved and rather ancient Mum will be coming over in a bit, I've got her pressies all wrapped and ready - I love this chance to spoil her and show her how much she's appreciated.
Must finish tidying up (not anything to get excited about, you understand, just pushing stuff out of view!)
Have a lovely day all!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
