My home is a mess

What a huge shame about your cabinet, fpcat.
De-messying is ALWAYS a case of getting worse before getting better, a fact of life, it seems. The optimistic way of looking at it is that, as long as you keep on with the de-messying, if things are getting worse, they MUST be getting better - eventually.

Hi Messies.
Cat, lovely to hear from you again xx.Wiil look at charities board in a bit.
fpcat - I hate it when you lose a post like that, it`s happened to me more since pc needed re-setting. Well done on your basement clearing, it`s a start. I`m glad we don`t have a basement or DS would have it full of his junk!
I`m feeling a lot better but still got no `go`, and still no idea (or too many ideas!) of what`s wrong, waiting test results & trying to keep mind diverted.0 -
(I posted last bit in case it disappeared or `timed out`.)
Messy Status report -
Sofa still clear - only because I`ve been frequently having to curl up Horizontal on it for 10 minutes out since gut-lurgy. They haven`t had chance to clutter it!
OH has done lots of wooly rug shaking and washing-up.
DD came yesterday, and took away loads of kids books & cookery books, stuff I`d sorted a few weeks ago to go.
I`ve fed WM a few times & hung stuff on hangers in doorways, so not much backlog.
Ticking over, basically. Mess could be a lot worse.
Have a good weekend all x
(off to find Cat on charities thingy....0 -
Hello everyone. I'm new to posting on this thread but I wanted to ask if anyone saw a programme on TV this week about a cleaning group of OCD folk who go and tidy untidy people's houses? I actually felt a bit uncomfortable watching it. Thought it was perhaps a wind-up programme! Channel 4, Wednesday evenings at 8pm - Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners.
I'm not tidy - I know where things are though. I put it down to my ex being super tidy. My lovely in-laws are too, but ex out did them. What upset me was when he tidied up after I had already done so! So when I became a 1PF (one parent family) I started becoming a bit more untidy!
I've subscribed to this thread as I do want to declutter now and you are all motivating me to do so. I'm trying hard....
I have quite a lot of fridge magnets but have a slight problem now as I have changed from a fridge-freezer to small fridge so where do I put the magnets and still manage to keep them away from several little grandchildren's inquisitive fingers?
Off to tidy up .......

Afternoon Messies and welcome walkers60!
Must have been tough having your tidying up tidied. Not sure about the fridge magnets. Never thought of keeping them away from gradchildren, since I don't have any - grandkids, that is. I hope we can keep you motivated, just keep in touch.
Mum's coming over for dinner this evening, so I've dusted the lounge. It's been vacuumed a couple of times this week, as we've been gardening. No matter how hard we try, there's always some mud that gets in. Have done a WM load of bedding, and it's hanging out in the sun! :j First lot this year.0 -
Dead jealous I;d love to hang washing out on the line!!!
Been awhile since i posted and i really let things slip - so yesterday went mad and cleaned from top to bottom although looking at the place now you never would have guessed!0 -
I got distracted from tidying my house and cleaned the chooks out instead. Their house looks lovely and clean!! I've let them out into their run today for the first time for quite a while. I'd better go out and get them in as the fox has been seen during daytime around here.
I'll start on my house soon ....

Hello again, donna. Try not to get dispirited about it - life has to be lived, and a certain amount of messying usually results.
The washing hasn't quite dried, but it smells wonderful. Just discovered that I obviously dragged a small patch of the sheet on the grass, but I'll sponge that off.
Walkers60, the chooks need de-messying as much as we do. OH has just cleaned out the guinea pigs.
A microlight has just buzzed its way over us. Looked great against the blue sky, but I've absolutely no desire to try it myself.0 -

Well, I live in hope!
A memory I have of when I was working in the school, was the Head of Science asking the science teachers if there was anyone willing to run the after-school science club. One young woman sighed, held her hand out for the piece of paper, and said, "I'll do it, who needs a social life, anyway." I could have cried for her, and the rest of the younger teachers. Far too much paperwork!0
