I've only been busy, sandyann, if I include mucking out a stable, and going over to see Mum. And the latter is why I haven't washed the kitchen floor. HOWEVER, I have sorted out a technology problem that's been hanging around for 6 years! All that time ago, I bought a computer CD of paper designs, made for card-making. I found out how to view the designs, but have never been able to discover how to print them off. Yesterday, I bought a craft magazine with another, much simpler design CD, which reminded me of the first one. This afternoon, I sat here, getting very frustrated for a while, then suddenly a veritable lightbulb moment. Now, I have over 2000 new designs I can print off! I is a very happy bearcub! :j0

Some progress chez grousescot. Two supermarket bags-for-life full of books have been CS-ed. That must have been almost an entire shelf of the bookcase in my living room and there is nothing I am going to miss. I still have stuff lying about on the floor that either needs put back on the bookcase or chucked. (Since we seem to be counting bookcases, I have 3 in a 2 bedroom flat although only 2 are being used and one will be disposed of.)
I have laundry that has been on the clothes drier in the hall since the weekend so that needs put away tonight and at least one wash put on as the laundry basket is overflowing (again).
I had a good go at the bathroom over the weekend so it looks much better. Like others have said, I find it helps to give the sink a quick wipe each morning right after I've washed and shaved. Doing the same for the sealant between the tiles and the edge of the bath seems to be keeping the black gunge at bay.
After spending an hour washing up late last night, I'm determined not to leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight. It looks awful and it screams unreconstructed bachelor and whilst the latter term applies to me, I have no wish to conform to the stereotype.0 -
Well done, grousescot. Books do tend to mount up, don't they, and they take up SO much space. I'm not sure that many married men are much different, tbh. Maybe it's just a man thing.
OH asked me this afternoon, while I was sat at the computer, "Can you listen while you're doing that?" Well, of course I could, I'm a woman!! :rotfl:0 -

I had to ask mum to take them away in the car as they were just too much of a dead weight for me to lug to the shop myself. They've been at the front door for nearly a fortnight and I wanted shot of them.
I'm amazed how many mentions there are of OHs who don't do much clearing up. Thought we'd long since got to the point where most blokes feel they do an equal share, even if they still moan a bit!0 -
I know this might be controversial but an instant way to make your kitchen look tidier is to get rid of fridge magnets.
Today is my usual Friday routine of making sure every room looks like it should. I know it makes me a "dull woman" but other than the living room, where the rabbits live, everywhere in my house is super clean and really tidy. I post here because it didn't used to be that way and I've gone from being a hoarder to a minimalist. Being tidy still doesn't come naturally but it is easy now I don't own much stuff and have a routine.
So I need to hoover the spare room and put the clothes airer away, change sheets in our bedroom, hoover the rest of the upstairs and dust the third bedroom, dust the living room and sweep the floor, I might wash the bunny rugs, hoover the kitchen and dining area and dust the console and porch shelf. That's it for today. I'll spend the rest of the time playing with the buns and quilting.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

My OH is very good, grousescot, ashe does all the cooking and the washing-up. I don't expect him to do any other housework, but he does occasionally. The only problem is that he doesn't wear his specs when washing up or when he wipes down the work surfaces. I often have to do items again after he's gone out. Still, it's a small price to pay.
Enjoy your afternoon, alec e. I love bunnies.
Not much indoor de-messying done today, although OH set the BM going this morning. I forgot to start the WM, so I've missed the first chance this year to get washing outside. I have, though, vacuumed the inside of my car, which was really starting to get to me. I even found the front door key I thought I'd dropped duing a walk at Christmas. The outside of my car desperately needs a wash, but it's not worth the effort, with all the mud at the yard and on the rural roads atm. Right, must go and prune the roses in the back garden, before it clouds over.0 -
Hi everyone!
Emm so sorry to hear you're not well!!*hugs*!!
Still busy busy busy here, unfortunately not busy demessying though! I did make a small start on my bedroom though! And the hall is reasonable...:rotfl:
I'm busy organising and training....and if any of you want to head over to the charities board you'll see why *shameless plug*!!!
love to all!!xx0 -
Hello Cat! Lovely to see you again. I hope all is still going well, even if the de-messying has come to a standstill.
Right, charities board - let's see if I can find it.0 -
Hey where's my post gone? I was halfway through and I paused for breath and it just disappeared!
Anyway - rerun of post. We are working on our messy basement, and are struggling at the mo. Why on earth did I store my beautiful china cabinet in a basement with damp and insects? No good for use in a house so offered via Freecycle, some kind soul has taken pity on me, and is coming to take all my basement cabinets, so should be more room soon. I also found a box of old thermos flasks and the woman who picked those up also took my coffee machine, and some saucepans, which was great.
Had to have shower whilst dinner was cooking, because I put my arm up the chimney and dislodged tons of soot, and chimney rubbish (but no dead birds) all over myself.
My kitchen and hall are worse than they were before I started in the basement, why isn't it possible to sort one room without stuff escaping and setting up home elsewhere?0
