Are they counterfeit ? You can check by going to the GHD website, there should be a seal on the box which makes me think they may not be genuine. I know you bought them from a salon but it's best to check first. Would imagine if you've broken the seal on the box, they have no way of telling whether you've used them or not, this may be why they're saying you can't take them back.

Take them back to the store 10 mins before they close, it's a lot easier for them to refuse you on the phone.

I previously used my friends and that's how I knew they wasn't the right ones. I have just used them and they don't straighten my hair. My hair goes fuzzy straight away and my hair is straight. (it's a girl thing, so no funny jokes) I used to have a old version and they don't work the same. So know they are faulty as there is no heat. I know I am not going to get no where with the saloon. I have just emailed GHD and am going to email head office as I do have rights too.

What is my rights on a faulty product? Do I have to have a exchange. Just lost faith with the manufactures.

What reason did they give for not giving you a refund?

If their receipt says they will give a refund in your situation, then they must do so.

Do you have any idea why they are refusing a refund?
You've not used them for stirring paint or thrown away the box have you?

There is something wrong if they don't straighten your hair it has to be said.

I bought myself some fake ones back from Egypt (yes yes I know, but £20 for the precious gift set and I was willing to take a chance). Turns out they are better than my £100 babyliss ones and have worked perfectly so I consider them a bit of a bargain (though I do watch them closely when they are on as I've heard of fakes overheating) They straighten brilliantly and my hair is very thick indeed.

Have you told the shop there is a problem, or simply that you have changed your mind?

Hang on, there seems to be a bit of a mixed up story here.
In post #1 you tell us...

...so I am stuck with some straighteners that I dont want.
That seems to imply that the thing is unused and you have just decided they are not suitable for you.
Now that is perfectly reasonable given what it says on the receipt.

You re-affirm in post #11 that you have not used them...

You go on to tell us that you used your friend's straighteners and that is how you decided they were unsuitable...

    But then you say...

So have you used the straighteners that you have recently bought or not?

But then in post #15 we are told...

So you have used them and found that they are faulty.
    Is that right?

With a faulty product any rights are against the retailer.
It does not matter what it says on the receipt if the thing is faulty.

Have you read the post entitled...

According to the OP the receipt does not mention a refund, only "return or exchange". If there is no problem with the product then surely the conditions of this sale don't obligate the retailer to provide a refund and a would allow the issue of a credit note.
