Rant - Morrisons

Dear Morrisons
I visited morrisons on 9 April 2011 between 12:45 and 13:05pm.
I went to the self service checkouts to avoid dealing with your incompetent staff, however it seems that this particular branch of morrisons seems to put its most incompetent on self-service.
The operator (I didn’t see his name badge but I’m sure from the time provided you will be able to work out who it was on you shift rota) hung around my basket like flies round dung, waiting to pounce on my basket when I hadn’t even finished scanning everything through. I bought a newspaper with a free packet of seeds and the assistant accused me of theft because I didn’t scan them through separately.
1 This demonstrates that your staff clearly are not aware or even understand the offers and products that you sell.
2 I was then age checked and didn’t understand why as I hadn’t purchased any age restricted items. The cashier then stood very close me (too close for personal comfort) and examined my purchases before telling me some !!!!!!!! about how it was the antacids that triggered this. In fact, I knew this to from past experience to be newspapers.
3 Why are newspapers age restricted? Is this just another way to harass customers at self service?
I allege that the behaviour of this staff member was harassing. Not only did he hang around my basket, but he stood far too close for personal comfort. Then he accused me of theft and didn’t even apologise, before finally announcing to whole queue waiting that the antacids I purchased caused the age check.
4 This isn’t the first time I have experienced awful customer service in Morrisons, and particularly on the self service checkouts. I understand that there must be measurers in place to stop theft but accusing an innocent customer from buying a newspaper with a free gift is not one of them and is quite frankly, disgusting humiliating and embarrassing. I also complained to you about another Morrisons store because the incompetent self service !!!! scanned through my 2 for £2 milk 3 times, I was charged for a 3rd carton of milk that I did not buy, leaving me £1.53 out of pocket.
point 1
not every staff will know every single offer and every single item the store sells as offers change frequently so no idea why you included that bit
point 2 and 3 it was the newspapers and they have been age restricted for years, i thought it was because of the stuff included eg a free film that was rated 15 or something else that was for people over a certain age but whatever the reason is does it matter and no its not a way to harrass customers,
point 4 if you have previous experience of that store then why continue going there, do you have other choices where to shop,0 -

I've never had any problems with Morrisons - maybe ours is just a good store - but the staff there have always been very helpful. I find a smile and friendly query always helps when problems occur.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0

I love the fact that you blame Morrisons for scanning your milk 3 times even though you went through the self serve, therefore the only person who could have scanned it three times is yourself. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

I have a feeling that if the OP actually worked in retail (espec a supermarket), they would realise just how much pressure can be involved in the job, targets to be met, simple mistakes can be made, and that customers like that are usually always in the wrong. (Either that or they wold walk out after 10 mins on the job!)
If Morrisons is that bad, then either go elsewhere, shop online, or grow your own food. I'm sure that they company would not miss you. The staff sure wouldn't by the sound of it.:)0 -
OP, I do understand your anger at being humiliated about the so called 'theft' and the member of staff being in your personal space, however the begining of your email isn't going to help you, however, when angry we do tend to write it all down and send it before calming down and checking it

Is Morrisons the closest shop you have? If so, my advice is do a shop late at night
This way, not only do you get great reductions in food etc, but the staff are all busy cleaning, sorting out shelves and stock etc. It's more quiet there at night too. Thank you to everyone!
 Officially addicted to Comping :eek:0 -
I love morrisons. I think it is the best supermarket in the world.
If you think it is so gash, go elsewhere in future. Problem solved. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
Three words of advice for the OP.
1. Get
2. A
3. LifeOh dear, here we go again.0 -
I can understand the issue over the free seeds - but that's about all. They were just tucked inside each newspaper and the packet was not stamped as a free offer or suchlike. As this promotion continues for a further week I think the paper distributors should mark the packets appropriately to avoid confusion and potential embarassment.0
