Rant - Morrisons

Perhaps because the staff member did indeed stand too close for comfort, which annoyed the OP.
I don't recon, look.....I go to self-service to avoid peopleI surely can't be the only person who chooses self-service because I don't want to deal with people
So I very much doubt they were stood too close for comfort, the op has obviously just decided they hate anyone who works there and trys to help them.0 -
1) I prefer to make all complaints in writing and I didn't want to hang about waiting for a manager with my frozen items
2) I go to self-service to avoid people
3) I do sometimes shop elsewhere but I would need to travel between 3 and 5 miles to do that.
Unfortunately we become a captive market of any supermarket when we live within proximity to one. I remember living right near Tesco and nipped round the corner when I needed something. The only other option at the time were Morrisons (40 minute walk away), which sometimes I did for a change. Now that I'm stuck with Morrisons I wish I lived near Tesco again! Although I realise there is quite an anti-Tesco vibe on this forum, it's ok value for money and you get clubcard points.
I remember the time I was overcharged for an extra carton of milk I didn't receive. I was absolutely livid and vowed never to shop at Morrisons again and tried to discourage anyone I knew from shopping there. But here I am, back in the very shop (well, a different branch) I detest because I don't really have a choice to go elsewhere.
Buy a cow and grow your own veg, never have to see anyone again then
.
Seriously though, it does come across that you have issues with other people, maybe you would be better off just having your shopping delivered and remove all but the delivery driver from your shopping experience. You say if you shop online you miss the bargains which is true but shopping instore seems to upset you so which is more important?0 -
Anyone else find the OP's choice of signature hilarious? With their style and content of posts no wonder they have to append:

Same here...
I shop at Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Co-operative, Lidl and very very rarely Tesco Metro. I have been to our new, huge Tesco Extra maybe 3 times for stuff I COULD NOT get elsewhere. Don't have an issue with the staff, just the size of the store!
Am planning to visit Aldi when I find one as I have just read an excellent review about a prize-winning, quality (and still cheap!) gin they stock...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Working in a large shop it is pretty much impossible to know what all the offers are, so to say the assistant is incompetent regarding this is a bit ridiculous, especially as newspapers tend to just have 1 day offers.
im sure your milk issue was a mistake, sometimes products like to scan themselves twice and the assistant didn't notice.
You sound like you believe the whole world is against you.0 -
Solution for the OP. You don't like people and the 'aggro', so why don't you shop online and save yourself and everone else the hassle?Best Regards

OP I think your complaint would be treated more favourably if you stuck to the facts and did not use such emotive terms.
To start off your letter talking in such derogatory terms of their staff will get you nowhere IMO and you will not be taken seriously.0 -
I absolutely despise Morrisons. I had yet another unpleasant encounter today with one of their Monkeys which prompted my rant below. I am very tempted to send this Morrions (well, amended for politeness etc) but the amount of times I complain about stuff and nothing gets done is just ridiculous. What is the point of my complaint if it not going to be used constructively to help improve customer service. I just need to get this off my chest because the amount of unpleasant trips to the supermarket is just unbelievable. I don't want to leave the house any more! If I wasn't such a cheapo (hate delivery charges, like to buy reduced items) then I would just order everything online.
Dear Morrisons
I visited morrisons on 9 April 2011 between 12:45 and 13:05pm.
I went to the self service checkouts to avoid dealing with your incompetent staff, however it seems that this particular branch of morrisons seems to put its most incompetent on self-service.
The operator (I didn’t see his name badge but I’m sure from the time provided you will be able to work out who it was on you shift rota) hung around my basket like flies round dung, waiting to pounce on my basket when I hadn’t even finished scanning everything through. I bought a newspaper with a free packet of seeds and the assistant accused me of theft because I didn’t scan them through separately. This demonstrates that your staff clearly are not aware or even understand the offers and products that you sell.
I was then age checked and didn’t understand why as I hadn’t purchased any age restricted items. The cashier then stood very close me (too close for personal comfort) and examined my purchases before telling me some !!!!!!!! about how it was the antacids that triggered this. In fact, I knew this to from past experience to be newspapers. Why are newspapers age restricted? Is this just another way to harass customers at self service?
I allege that the behaviour of this staff member was harassing. Not only did he hang around my basket, but he stood far too close for personal comfort. Then he accused me of theft and didn’t even apologise, before finally announcing to whole queue waiting that the antacids I purchased caused the age check.
This isn’t the first time I have experienced awful customer service in Morrisons, and particularly on the self service checkouts. I understand that there must be measurers in place to stop theft but accusing an innocent customer from buying a newspaper with a free gift is not one of them and is quite frankly, disgusting humiliating and embarrassing. I also complained to you about another Morrisons store because the incompetent self service !!!! scanned through my 2 for £2 milk 3 times, I was charged for a 3rd carton of milk that I did not buy, leaving me £1.53 out of pocket.

From now on every time I'm having a bad day I'm going to read this to remind myself that now matter how bad things are some people have got it much much worse.0 -
Unfortunately I got home before I realised that they'd overcharged me. The main reason I didn't go back to the store to get my refund was because I had no proof that they'd done it. I could just have left the store, put the extra carton of milk in my fridge, then went back and claimed that they overcharged me when I didn't receive it. I emailed customer services about this and they told me to go back to the shop. I think they should have just sent me a voucher in the post.
If you felt the shop staff would have doubted you why would you expect customer services to just send a voucher in the post?:j0 -
