The law gives them permission to open the post. The same law that allows you to open any piost that goes to your hosue, regardless of whose name is on it. As long as it is your address it dioesnt matter

Never heard of that - even lease cars are registered to the driver's address usually are they not?

I had one (lease car) registered at my address but the one before I never saw the V5 and haven't a clue who it was registered to.

I got stung for the VED on the one registered in my name (my fault for being too blase, Mercedes Benz Finance)

I'd be a bit suspicious of one on HP/PCP being registered somewhere else though - my car is on PCP via Santander Consumer Finance and I have the V5.

Nope. Lease cars will be reg'd to the Lease Co.

If we buy cars from Bank of Scotland from BCA and they come with the drivers name c/o BOS then we know it was a PCP. If it just comes with BOS at their Chester address then we know it was a Lease car. If it comes in the drivers full name and address then it was a Finance car. Which if its the latter and is at BCA 99% of the time means it was a repo. Or snatch back as we like call them.

Even Smackability cars are now reg'd to the address in Southwalk or the address in Bristol. Years ago they used to be reg'd in the customers name and address but the docs went missing. Or got eaten.

Yopu're probably quite a kosher person, unlike the OP who may have an iffy background when it comes to credit etc.

None of that on my V5 either, just my name and address as normal :)

Most people who have PCP's have the docs in their own mane and address. BOS were just different.
