Hi all,
To avoid duplication and possible confusion I'm going to move this thread across to the mobiles board.
Good luck

i know but I gave them the imei of the phone,on the unlocking form they also ask for the 02 number being used on that phone
The problem is I bought the phone off ebay and i use 3 my self so the phone been on the desk for months, now I am going overseas and need to use it on a different simcard reason why i applied for it.
They should unlock the phone as is originally on O2 and by refusing it they are restricting me from using the phone full functionality as overseas it will be just like a brick for me.0 -
it didnt work using your sisters card because that number was never used with that IMEI
-put an o2 sim card into the iphone (you can use your sisters if you want, or just pick up a free o2 simcard from their website)
-after the phone is turned on and connects to the network it is in o2's system that that number is being used with that IMEI.
-then fill in the iphone unlocking form on o2s website
-that should work fine, and the o2 number will get a text in 0-14 days saying the phone is unlocked and you need to sync with itunes to complete the process.0 -
So put an O2 SIM in it, switch it on so it registers on the network and give them that number.on the unlocking form they also ask for the 02 number being used on that phone
They aren't refusing to unlock it, you haven't provided them with the info they want. They should unlock the phone as is originally on O2 and by refusing it they are restricting me from using the phone full functionality as overseas it will be just like a brick for me.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

Where did the OP say IMEI?:think:0 -

You are assuming the phone has not been reported stolen and has passed any minimum contract time. It most likely has as it's a 3GS but if it hasn't then there may be problems. O2 will want the contract paying off before unlocking and you don;t have the contract.
Hope it's not a problem but it may be an issue0 -
Hello everyone, your right guys.
It was my mistake, I received an email saying that i need to put the O2 sim card and they will unlock it straigh away.It was my mistake but to me the first response meant that they do not want to as they phone was not registered with tha sim card or something similar.0 -
You bought the phone on ebay, so 02 no longer have any obligation to do anything with this phone. The person who had it originally from 02 would have been able to get it unlocked but you are a third party who has nothing to do with them.
That's the problem, to me that doesn't sound logical.
They have no obligation but this doesn't mean that their service put restriction on my phone.
If I sell a laptop with an antivirus on it because I want people to use that antivirus, people can buy it and use the poduct with the antivirus but at the same time the customer should be able to remove the antivirus and use a different one.
If a third person who buys the laptop from another person doesn't like the antivirus, this doesn't mean he has to live with it, he has the right to do what he/she wants with their product as far as it does not harms other; especially if what he/she is doing is over a period of a contract or anything where the service provider does not have anything to do with the item but still indirectly is affecting the functionallity of it.0 -

You are not a customer of o2, so they have no contractual responsibility to assist you at all.
The phone contract that is assosiated with any mobile will be for a minimum term if you want to unlock any phone you'll normally be asked to make that payment up front. Not normally an issue as you'd just be pre-paying the line rental, but as you don't have the contract assosiated with this phone theres still a possibility when they check the phones IMEI there may still be some minimum term left, and as your not the contract owner it will be hard to resolve.
What should have happened is the original purchaser who you bought it from should have unlocked it before selling it on. Remember the phone will have been subsidised by o2 to some degree so they have an interest in locking you in and so using their service.
If your sister (I think thats what you said in another thread) has not hit a minimum term there may still be charges made to unlock the phone to pay the assosiated contract, even through you don't have that contract.0
