Tesco Vouchers, Senior Rail Card, 25 November

I want to travel YRM - YRK 2nd Transpenine say £4.30 but Red Spot say £6.60
also YRK - KGX 1st East Coast say £32.45 But Red Spot say £35.65
    (Why 1st? Lunch & wi-fi "Free" ;-) )

Seems Red Spot are adding a fee of £3.20 to all tickets !
    £3.20 on £32.45 is a lot (10%) . But £3.20 on £4.30 is gross (75%) !

    Any thoughts?

The fares show in "The Fares Manual" as £6.60 and £35.65 respectively. This is the full price and the price you'd be charged at the station, i.e. RSH aren't adding anything onto the fare.

The reason it is cheaper is because TPE and East Coast give discounts on their own fares. If you buy a ticket on RSH with clubcard vouchers, you can then claim the difference in price by contacting RSH here: http://www.redspottedhanky.com/terms-and-conditions/price-promise/

    Thanks .

Tried the url & got a 404 "Not found" It might have been dropped as I tried to use the East Coast £25 First class offer last week & the web site did not recognise that fare. Spoke to Red Spot (only 10 minutes wait!) and the operator said that "Promotional fares" were not available through Red Spot.

I have an e-voucher worth £45. If I buy a ticket for £30, what happens to the remaining £15? Will it be credited back to my account or will I loose it? Please can someone answer urgently as I need to order tonight! Thanks

It remains in your Red Spotted Hanky account for your next purchase, with the same expiry date as the original voucher.
  • wait im very new to tesco's club card but have a tesco's being built right down the road from me.... and I do a lot of rail travel and my wife does a lot of shopping.

so I will (once opened) be able to pay for my travel to work using club card points that my wife with get just from doing her shopping at the bottom of my road using this website.

this sounds to good to be true

    Yes :D

    £1 spent in Tesco = 1 point
1 point = 3p at Red Spotted Hanky

My parents do as you suggest. Mum shops in Tesco, dad uses the points to buy his train tickets to work! Much better value than using the vouchers in-store at Tesco.

    £1 spent in Tesco = 1 point
1 point = 3p at Red Spotted Hanky

Until the end of November 2011 (ie THIS month) when they change to 1 point = 2p at Red Spotted Hanky.

Have plans for lots of train trips next year so must remember to convert my remaining £80+ of clubcard vouchers before then!!!

Wish I'd known this last week when I converted £12.50 and got £2.50 refunded to my clubcard account. Would have added another £2.50 worth of vouchers! Won't see the refund in my account until the next statement date. :(
