  • I converted £15 worth of vouchers online very late on Wednesday night and was able to use them Friday lunchtime to buy tickets. Therefore saving £30 on my tickets.

So using Money Saving Expert tip on fare splitting I got a £74 return ticket for £53.90 minus the £45 e-voucher on Redspottedhanky I only paid £8.90 out of my own pocket!

    Great savings!

It it worth noting that you don't have to spend the whole Tesco voucher in one go - if you underspend the balance remains in your account to use next time.

Thanks, useful to know. How long will the credit balance remain in your account?

My e-voucher has an expiry date of 31/12/11 - I ordered it around early May, and I've since used it to book some tickets with no problem. I've just emailed Red Spotted Hanky to ask what the expiry date would be if I exchange some more Clubcard points to top up my existing e-voucher balance, but I suspect it will have the same expiry date. Will post the answer here assuming they reply!

Apparently new e-vouchers will have an expiry date of 2020.

Have just logged onto my RedSpottedHanky account to be welcomed as someone else and a mix of my personal details, eg email address and credit balance, but with a record of trips and details taken by somone else. Has this happened to any other Forum member?
  • I am in the process of trying to use the redspottedhanky website to book a rail journey. I get to the final page where it says click now to pay and I can see how much it will cost 'Total Cost:£55'. I now tick that I wish to use my eVoucher with its code number (gained via Tesco) worth £30 but the amount to pay by credit card covered by the words 'Total cost' stays the same £55. As a user this experience is bad as I will only find out whether the voucher is going to work or not after I have clicked to pay.

My e-voucher that came today, (3 days after ordering it), still has the 31 December 2011 expiry date. But it is only August!

The e-vouchers in my account show as having an expiry of : "Thu, Dec 31st"

I just called RSH customer services and they confirmed the e-vouchers expire on 31/12/2020 and agreed this was not clear.

31/12/2011 is not a Thursday....31/12/2020 is :). I've emailed the same question so I have a written reply. Their initial email does state :
"Our e-vouchers don’t run out*, so it will be waiting for you when you are ready to go. All you need to do to redeem it is make a booking!

    *Terms and conditions apply"
  • I've been trying to book a ticket for next Saturday and I've noticed that the Free First Class Postage option doesn't appear. I experimented and the option does appear for the the following Monday (22/8/11). I guess that RSH are being cautious about the post taking its time. Rather than spend £7 for next day delivery or drive 15 miles to the nearest station to use an automated ticket machine I'll go another day. I was only going shopping with the wife and kids anyway!;)

Just thought I'd mention it, for those who are travelling within 7 days. Good offer though, and my vouchers took about 24 hrs to come through.
