i forget
who is it again that moves stuff to GO
i'd like to volunteer to take over it
unless im on my death bed i can g'tee to remove everything like e: 31/05 circa 01.00 on 01/06 and so on
this doesnt affect me, but the wonderful Lakshmi7 who has had a shed load of their comps, posted not 4 hours ago already moved to GO
if its e31/05 leave them in place until its 01/06 !!
who gives a to$$ if some finish at 9, 10 or midday and it doesnt say it in the subject, ppl will find out when they come to enter them and then can click expired, but if it ends at midnight [the majority] and its off the board before then, then people miss out
i'm sorry but whoever you are, moving the current days comps to GO before 7pm when some ppl get it from work and try to do whats ending that day is just not ON !
.
I'm on MSE every day and when I check the comps board I move all the comps that ended the previous day to GO (if they haven't already been moved) sometimes if I'm still up at midnight I'll do them then but never before, otherwise it's when I get in from workWith regards to comps being moved to GO early
I was wondering if comps that are still current instead of being moved to GO could be moved to a holding area before being moved to GO sort of a intermediary between the two boards
any current comps being moved to GO could then be found all together in one place
the comps could then be moved to Go the following day and deleted from the intermediary thread or section
Just a thought not sure how feasible it would be for the BG's
that shouldn't be needed amiluckyas they can just be left on main and moved following day, as I said above I'm on every day (though there is no obligation for a BG to be on every day
) so I only have to do one lot of end dates each day

Is anyone else being bombarded with emails from Robinsons? I've had the same email over 60 times and they're still arriving!
Edited to add - I think they've stopped, phew! 98 copies of the same emailLuck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

with regards to this bit, no its doesnt matter if they are left and found after they have expired, i really dont see the harm in all the comps being moved a day later, ive said it numerous times. they should all stay until the day after the end date used....
i have suggested a few times in the past that if a comp ends earlier in the day on the end date, or say a winner will be drawn on x date the end date used could eb put as the day before. i dont see how anyone can miss out by hitting the comp the day before it ends, whereas people can miss out if they dont enter until the evening of the day it ends.
to make it clear, a comp that ends at noon on 01/06 it is now too late for anyone who hasnt entered to enter today, but had it been put with yesterdays end date then more would have caught it last night before it became too late to enter. a comp which will be drawn on the 01/06 may have ended at 23:59 last night...but still shows.
doing this would mean that all comps with end date of 01/06eg would still be live now, and the few that end at 00:01, or 00:06 or whatever time before 23:59 on 02/06 would show with todays end date but still be live and enterable now....thus no one needs to miss out (unless they skip end today or they all get moved to game over early again :rotfl: ).
eta:if im missing the obvious and using a day earlier end date would in fact cause lots of people to miss out on these comps do please point this out to me)

I think you're right. I must admit I try to keep 2 to 3 days ahead (more if I can) so it doesn't really affect me too much. On a different subject, I did see someone the other day (forget who) say that it was better to guess end dates way into the future and then people can just click expired if they find the comp is closed. I would have thought shorter guesses would be better to save a lot of people who comp by end date missing out.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I think it was mentioned a few months back when all the bickering was going on with the board layout etc.
I maybe wrong but I am following this style of end date guessing.I was entering a sites comps a few days back & about 50% of their current comps were in GO,due to short end dates being guessed.
I still don't know for sure what is best but loosing comps to GO weeks early surely cannot be the way forward.0 -
I'll own up ,barnabysue,it was me :-)

but who does it hurt to loose them to go early?
they can be moved back of we ask a bg and a new end date used instead.
if they are posted with a later end date then people who enter by end date loose out if its already ended.
people who enter by newly posted and either keep up or keep a day or too behind will get it at the same time no matter what end date is used unless im missing something?
an entry is an entry whether its weeks before the end date or on the end date.....no its not ideal to have them in game over weeks early...but i really cant see the numbers of people missing out on entering them if they are as compared to the numbers missing out because they are posted and ended before the end date or guessed end date?
please tell me what im missing?0
