Softstuff I am sorry to hear about your friend, I am sure she wouldn't want you to put yourself out to that sort of amount for her, if she can't even know you are there. I hope she manages to hold on long enough for you to at least attend her funeral. Best wishes for you both. x

:) There's signs that there has been some kind of rainfall overnight; damp tarmac and the suite which someone has kindly flytipped outside the flat next door is nicely moist. Hoping for some more later (whoops, meant more rain, not more fly-tipping :rotfl:)

Softstuff I'm sorry to hear that your friend is in her last stages and hope that she passes as easily as possible. IMO, I think you're right not to change your flights etc at such expense when the poor lady wouldn't even know that you had been to see her. ((Hugs))

Embarrassing Washing Machine Anecdotes The Bosch I have now is the first washer I have personally owned and thus the first I ever installed. The flat came with the side-spur in the piping under the sink pre-fitted but there had never been a washer here before; I had to get the council in to drill holes in the undersink cupboard to get the inlet and outlet hoses thru.

Anyway, Mum and I connected the washer, set it to run a load and all went well until it came to the point where it should've pumped out. And then it stopped, full of water, with the door locked.

Well, I was outraged, brand new machine etc etc and on the blower to the company's helpline and (frankly :o) on my high horse! I did learn something useful; that the number I needed to quote to them is situated on the inside of the door. It's now written in the manual.

Long story short, before the repair man arrived, we suddenly twigged that we'd attached the outlet hose to the side-spur of piping without cutting off the end. Doh; machine was trying to pump out thru solid plastic! :o:o I had to call them back to call them off and be very apologetic, with Mum standing nearby cracking up. :rotfl:

Bertiebots - you never know what's round the corner!
At the age of 36 with 2 children, I met DH. He's quite a bit younger than me, which raised a few eyebrows at the time, but 21 years later we're still together and going strong. My life certainly hasn't turned out the way I would have expected it to, but I wouldn't swap with anyone.
Enjoy your kids, have the best life you can at the moment, and who knows what will turn up.

Thanks all, the reassurance I get here is always a relief. She isn't in any pain at all, which frankly is what I hope for when I'm going, and my mum goes to see her every other day and will go if her condition changes. It really brings home though how far away I am, and I worry what I'll do as my parents get worse too. We chose to be here rather than in England for so many very sensible reasons, but sometimes it seems to be the harder decision for me.

Hi, so sorry to hear about your friend, you have given her your hand in friendship for however long you have known her. That's what matters most.

I know life sometimes gives us hard choices, we have to do what is right for us at that time and often as with any choice there is a downside. Being human, we do the best we can. Peace.

Softstuff, I second Mardatha's post. On a soul level I am sure she will be aware that you are sending her love and light and willing her to pass peacefully.

I have prayed for my animals to pass peacefully when their time has arrived, and on one occasion I did see this little creature's spirit rise from her body like a ball of blue energy. I know it was her way of saying thank you for the prayers. So I know that prayer/loving thoughts do work.

Well I have spoken to my housing officer.

Turns out I need a housign inspection on my little fat before I can view my house, She wanted to come out at 10am today but have managed to persuade her to come tomorrow instead so Owen is borrowing a van from work tonight to hide the motorbikes that are in our garden ( and much disapproved of by housing officer!) and fingers crossed she will get back to me later once she has spoken to the maintenance department as one of them needs to be with her to assess any damage or work that needs doing.

I did ask her about my wallpaper situation and told her we had started to strip it to redecorate - boys actually tore it off! and she said to be honest thats cosmetic and Im sure the new tenants will soon change it with their decorating grant.

Fingers crossed we will get a decorating grant but I did say I was impatient and had already been up to have a nosey round the house and noticed the nice wooden flooring and asked if it could stay and she said she would make a note for the council to keep it for us but she was pretty sure ti was staying anyway

So fingers crossed we can get things sorted tonight- I have chipped paint by my front door to paint, need to finish painting my bathroom - just behind the door, and Owen is going to give the toilet the once over - other than that I have a few walls to wipe down, and a light switch surround to put back in place and we are ok

Think only downfall is we removed a door because it was pointless and in the way - so we have taken it off and we skipped it - hoping they wont hold that against us though but think they are £20 in focus and we accidentally had our bedroom door dented slightly when we moved the sofas in - not sure if we will get told off for that but they will probably want that replaced too

Other than that if we are having that done tomorrow and then she said we can go and view our new house tomorrow too. Hoping she can tell how excited I am though and will bring my tenancy agreement with her for us to sign there and then so we can start moving in.

Promise to get pictures for you all tomorrow!

Met other neighbours yesterday - man at the bottom of the garden said hello and introduced himself to us - his names Phil - seems lovely. Offered us all sorts of help and tools to get ourselves started. Owen now feels guilty about wanting to erect a shed at teh bottom of the garden because he quite fancies a few late night chin wags over the wall with his new buddy. :o

I met other neighbours too - who also have a little girl in Benjamins class. They also have two big weinmarener dogs! and very aware that part of our 'fence' goes down to a 3ft wall - hopign Bruno wont jump it or vice versa and I have dogs running all over the place - think I may invest in some extendable trellis there to block it off - and for tomato plants to grow up :D but she seems lovely too and even bruno has playmates now.

A new friend for Bruno has already been discussed too - although think a rescue may be on the cards once we are settled in so he has a friend to keep him company.

Other than that today is packing - around holly may! Owen packed all our DVDs last night into a box - tell you I must of looked a right site carrying about 12 flat packed crisp boxes home. Anyway he packed all the DVDs which holly promptly unpacked this morning and I have now repacked and packed a box of videos which I am about to tape shut

Did manage to indefinitely borrow from work 3 rolls of packing tape and a very big black marker pen to label all these boxes! Not to mention the mountain of boxes now taking up my sofa!

    Excited...........me...............never!

as a thank you to all I have lit a candle on mardathas link for all fellow msers wishing you good luck, happiness and prosperity for whoever needs it. Will definitely be lighting a few candles as thank you wishes too - and that fact that I may have packed the lamps!

Am literally at the phase whatever doesnt move gets put in a box! :rotfl:
    Time to find me again
