My most embarrassing washing machine moment. Was getting an engineer out when the machine is still under warranty and making a funny noise.
Guess what he pulled out yep a underwire from one of my bra's :oLucky I was not there.
Maybe he thought it was my husbands :rotfl:

Reminds me of the time some years ago when my washing machine was playing silly beggars. Only in this case it was a pair of my old knickers half ripped to shreds that was pulled out.One life - your life - live it!0

Your poor hubbie...:rotfl:
Bra wires can cause havoc in a washing machine, I always wash them in a net now because I got one stuck inside the drum and the noise was awful, result sixty quid lighter. A quid for a washing net is a no-brainer for me.0 -
I've just acquired some lovely, and I mean lovely, eggs.
Last week, when we were walking to our local polling station, we passed a bungalow selling eggs at £1 a half dozen and small eggs for baking at 75p per dozen, so today we went and got some of each. Not only were they a really good price, and the ones we ate for lunch delicious, but they were a variety of beautiful colours; a perfect duck egg (!) blue, pure white and every shade up to an almost chocolate brown. They look so lovely that I'm almost reluctant to eat them, but at less than 40p for 6 to make a frittata, just adding a few bits of veg, I'll get over it (it's only 5 minutes walk to get some more).
I'd like to add my congratulations to Sammykaye; Hope you'll all be very happy in your new home.0 -

Hi everyone, belated congratulations to Sammy Kaye - the house sounds just what you need. Great news.
B and T - glad to hear about the work - we know the feeling here, no fixed income so every penny counts. Hope it continues for you.
Hornetgirl, good luck with the contract.
Welcome back Bluebag (and welcome all newbies).
You are a lovely lot on here, always keep my spirits up. Like the candle idea.
Cold and wet here today in W. Wales, have had the woodburner going as I was sitting last night in a fleece, blanket on my knees and a wooly scarf! Determined not to put the central heating on. Just as well we don't often get visitors!
Hope everyone has had a good day.0 -
Can I ask a favour?
Could anyone shed any light (and explain in laymen's terms *blush*) what this all means?
Thanks in advance

Hi, as I understand it( I'm no economist) The govenor of the bank of England , Mervin King is giving a warning that inflation (rising prices) will not stay at 2% and will be about 5%.
The reason for this is because gas prices are expected to increase by 10% and electricity by 15% this winter.
Hope this helps.0 -

--my dad didnt sound good on the phone tonight and my mum has taken to her bed---i will come home in june and i think it will be the last time i ever see them because i think they are not long for this earth--i am crying now!
de1amo, I hope you are feeling less distressed now ((hugs)).
Thank you to those who expressed sympathy about Mavis Hen. Mardatha, she had Marek's disease. Both she and Hepzibah Hen had a yeast infection in their crop; the vet thinks this was caused by dodgy food (now in the bin and never ordering from that company again). They both recovered but unfortunately a lot of hens have Marek's disease hiding latent in their bodies. When their immune system is threatened (eg the yeast infection) it triggers the virus, which causes lots of internal tumours to develop in a matter of a couple of weeks. It is painful for the hen and in a lot of cases they become paralysed. Battery hens are particularly prone (many of them are missed by the vaccination as there are just thousands being vaccinated at the same time) as they have had such a tough start in life. At least she had almost two years of love and care (and kisses!) from me, so she spent longer being free than being a battery hen. Anyway, now she is an :A and no longer in pain, although I do miss her and her pretty henny face.
Fuddled, there is a link here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12196322 which explains inflation. There is also a link to a fairly easy personal inflation calculator near the bottom of that page if anyone if anyone wants to have a go.
Welcome to Shanni dog and I hope Monty's nose is not too sore after paying for her :rotfl:(laughs at own joke ...)
Re: washing machines - I once called an engineer out because mine wasn't working. Turned out I hadn't switched it on at the wall:o:o Thankfully he saw the funny side of it and didn't charge me anything! Doh!
