After stating earlier that we would not be planting any veg this year as our vegetable patch has not been dug over we are now the proud owners of 6 tomato plants, 5 courgette plants, two sweet pepper plants, lettuce, raspberried and potatoes. Have planted all these in large pots or containers as veggie patch is still not ready but at least we have something this year. Also my mother-in-law has said she will come down and sort out the veggie patch and has some runner beans, pumpkins and onions for us. She is a really keen gardener and puts my to shame but I shall not knock the offer of help. We're all feeling rather chuffed with ourselves after out little planting marathon.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'
Proud Mummy to two gorgeous miracles.:j0 -
Ceridwen - I think that is a wonderful idea. The power of positive thought, whether in prayer or some other way, I believe can influence peoples' lives for the better. I would be happy to focus positive thoughts for the benefit of virtual friends here. xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Sorry, not been around for a couple of days, so just catching up.
Sammy_Kaye, so pleased to hear about your house. Candle-power rocks :T
Looking forward to a difficultish day at work tomorrow. My contract ends in mid-June and they want to keep me for a bit longer but are being rather vague about it all. So I've spent this afternoon coming up with a proposal, which I hope will suit everyone. I don't want to undersell myself but am hopeless at doing these things verbally, so have written it all down. Fingers crossed.0 -
Actually
at a practical level.....what do peeps think about an MSE Candle Power List?
Obviously - I'm aware of various peeps who need "a bit of help" besides myself/more than myself....
Hmmm....maybe a "Light in the Darkness" List?
Is that a useful thought for consideration?
Yes, it's a VERY useful thought for consideration indeed. And very kind, too.
I shall start lighting a candle for you every day Ceridwen and another for the other person in my thoughts. At this rate I'd better pop out to @sda and get a reserve of tea-lights or something in to ensure that it works properly. I've got my hopes up after "my" success with Sammy_Kaye.
I would very much appreciate being in other people's thoughts now and again because I NEED to stay in some kind of work for a bit at the very least. The bank-manager is getting a bit tense. And so am I.0 -
Hello to everyone, not been around for a while as been on holiday and then 'dying' with a chest infection, toughed it out for 3 weeks before being forced to go to the doctors by the family.
Hope everyone is OK. I'm trying to catch up, but my word y'all can chat! ...it's a good thing! 'Congratulations' to sammy-kaye and 'what a lucky dog' annie56.
Just had to go to the local supermarket in my weakened state as quite a bit of my online order was missing, I got quite a shock,a lot of empty shelves and big, big spaces in the value stuff. No value pasta at all, and this is a mahoosive store.
It looks like people are hurting with all the cuts.
I suspect a reduction in the shelf stackers too. I knew that the cuts and things were biting but it's quite shocking to see the effect in action so to speak.
Guess more folks will be doing the OS thing than ever before.
Got to keep on keeping on as they say.0
