One of those days today...quick query here.

I'm trying to start up my washing machine as normal to do a load - and I think it must have got some sort of child lock inadvertently set off. Whatever programme I try to do - I turn the knob to get to it and it starts beeping at me and there is a "key" symbol showing up in control panel.

its a Bosch Excel 7 washing machine only type washing machine - and I cant find the darn manual either (duh! why not I ask myself? - as I keep all kitchen manuals in a kitchen drawer).

Errr....anyone got the same model please and know how to turn off that darn child lock purlease?:o

Ceridwen..can you find your manual to download from here:

Quick search on the internet - and the general concensus is that you press and hold the "Finished in" button. But it has to be on the cycle that it got locked in.

You can also download a manual for your machine from here: https://portal.bsh-partner.com/portal(bD1kZSZjPTAwOQ==)/PORTALFRAME.HTM

This happened to me a few weeks back on my Hotpoint machine, I went into a right panic. Rang my local friendly repair man and he gave me some advice on how to clear the lock. So if all help fails, give a quick call to a local engineer.

    Hope this helps.

    Annie,

Glad to hear there is a happy ending to the tail ;) (I know very bad pun but it was intended)

    All the best.

    Yours

    Calley

:D Congratulations on your new "arrival" Annie then - ie Shanny the dog. That dog knew which side her bread is buttered :rotfl: and duly identified Monty as a "soft touch" as soon as she saw him:D.

Told ya' lass - you'll never be rich in money with Monty - but...awww...he's such a love isnt he?:D

Goes off to resume washing manual hunt - its not darn well in my manual section of multifile either....

Thanks for that - next ohmegawd moment is "Just WHICH programme I had it in to start with....:o"

EDIT; Been and checked - and its just one stop/start button. So its the Exxcel 7 1400 Express model of Bosch if anyone has this - errr...help...

Just tried that link and it doesnt work for me - it obviously expects peeps to log in and doesnt provide any way to do so for me. Maybe its an engineers' thing that the general public cant access?

ANNIE - Congratulations to you, Monty, Lucy and Shanni. I do personally think pets make a house a home. I now I am eager to get Bruno into his garden. I cant wait as he has never really had a safe outside space to call his own and just 'be' a dog. Cant wait!

Well went to the coop last night and grabbed myself a few boxes - we have most our bedroom packed in boxes as it is - but will repack them and label them later at some point - have asked the coop to put all boxes aside for me so I can get cracking with packing tomorrow. :D Plus it gives me a chance to label things up better properly as Owen is a keen magazine horder. :( which are all shed bound as soon as one is built :D

Although we are debating at the minute over his mountain bike - I am starting as I mean to go on - no carp in my house! There simply isn't space to keep junk - once his shed is built fine but I want my home immaculate!

Ben is keen to get packing though - I made up four boxes last night and he is asking if he can go and pack all his books away into one. :A bless - in fairness everything else of his stuff is in toy boxes so effectively boxed already. :D

Hopefully this will be our last move though and we can get settled in our forever home. :D:D

Ah see now I read you should hold the 'start' button until the light goes out.

I have the same machine & have just found the instruction booklet.

The following is the quote from said booklet about the childlock.

ON/OFF: After the programme starts/ends press Start/Pause for approx 5 seconds.
Note: Childproof lock may remain activated until the next programme starts, even after the machine has been switched off!
Then deactivate the childproof lock before the programme starts and, if required, re-activate after the programme starts.

I hope this is a help. Have never used the childlock as I live on my own. Never knew it had one actually untilI read your post.

I'm just back from Asda. The Prices are creeping up for no obvious reason.I used to be able to buy 4 boxes of cheap fish fingers for £1,now it is one at about 56p and only 10 to a box, didn't there use to be 12?
The reduced section was ridiculous too, meat for £4 - £6 enough for 1 meal.fish for £3 enough for 2 people,I imagine quite a lot is broken and inedible by the time they decide to reduce it sensibly. Oh well,I didn't like it so I did the other thing :)

All this talk of dogs reminds me of our old German shepherd ,OH's dinner was still in the frying pan on the hob and he was home any minute.
I went in to dish it up as we had eaten earlier and it was absolutely gone! Completely! The frying pan still in situ, the dog had licked the lot out quick as a flash. She couldn't hide it though, she had guilty written all over her face.

Hooray for Shanni finding new (better) owners!
    People can be so callous!
When I was about 12, I was approached in the street by a little girl I sometimes stopped to talk to over her fence. She was distraught and handed me a tiny kitten, saying 'quick take him mum is going to run him over'. Her mum came marching down the path and I walked quickly away with the puss in my coat. My parents were adamant we couldn't have him(flats) . Thankfully a cat owner took him to pass on to the cats protection league. I never saw the little girl again, I think mummy stopped her from coming to talk in case I told anyone about her.

Sammy Yay for you getting a house at last! :T

    Sorry to say I am not an animal lover at all but would never hurt one. Even my daughter knows that I'm not keen as just the other week a lady from the NSPCA came knocking on the door and even though I told her I was not going to give her any money it was not until my daughter came to the door and said;
'My mummy hates animals, she doesn't even like cute fluffy ones'. that the lady went ok and then left. It's not that I 'hate' them I just have no real inclination to love them. That's not to say I like seeing animals distressed or hurt in any way but it does not pull at my heartstrings as it does to see children suffering. Each to their own and no offence meant to anyone.

Queued this morning at WHSmiths to get the free lego as my daughter is lego mad. I've never done this before as usually I send away but you cannot do this this time. It was an eye opener to see how many people there were queueing. One lady had been there since 9:00am to make sure she got her son the toy. I'm putting away the lego for Christmas for my daughter and she will be thrilled. The things we do for our children.

Still no baby but at least it's given us time to sort out more of the house. I have also finally got on top of the laundary and now just need to put it all away. No ironing done in this house! The problem is that now everything is washed and clean there isn't enough draw space for it! Once baby is born will have to go through our clothes and half them.

Was very pleased with myself yesterday as I made a rhubarb crumble from scratch. Usually my mother-in-law makes the crumble for me and I just add it to the rhubard. It really was very easy and I cannot believe that I've not done it myself before.:o
We have rhubarb in out garden and it often went to waste but not anymore!

Got a voucher for £7 off a £50 shop at Tesco and a £5 off £40 spend at Morrisons. Tesco accept both of these so will make a very careful shopping list to make sure that I spend £50 and this will give me £12 off my shopping. Usually shop in Sainsburys but this is too good an opportunity to mix. Need to really cut down our grocery budget. We did manage to do an online shop two weeks ago for £60 and this has lasted us until today.

Right must get some lunch on the go - scrambled egg, bacon bits, tomatoes and toast. Yum.

Proud Mummy to two gorgeous miracles.:j
