Hi everyone,
am racing through my chores so I can get outside in the sun.0 -
Hi Beanie  (Package is on its way btw!)
Well best laid plans and all that...
My daughter was going to a chiropractor appointment, then was going on to have lunch with her dad but when she got in her car it wouldn't start. She called the breakdown company she is with (which actually runs out today ) and they came and got her started. It was the battery and he suggested she go for a long run in it to get some juice into the battery, so she cancelled her appointment and we went for a drive, stopped by a lovely river and had an ice cream, and now she has just dropped me off to go and meet her dad.
So my day of spending time in the garden didn't happen - the sun has gone from the garden now and is too breezy to sit out so I have come indoors to have a read of my book and a cup of tea!OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Morning All :waves:
I saw Mamma Mia at the pictures when it first came out but got really bored I have to say. I had seen the show in London and totally loved it, so was expecting great things from the film. Can't really put my finger on why it didn't match up though. I do think Julie Walters overplayed her part, much as I love her as an actress, I felt it was over the top.
Anyway, in the garden just now enjoying a cuppa with a BT lorry parked in the road with its engine running gggrr
I have been trying to cut down on my shopping by splitting it between Aldi and then going to tesco to get what Aldi didn't have. It has saved money but is a bit of a hassle especially as I hate shopping and got used to tesco delivering it but felt I was really spending too much each week. Will try to do it throughout April at least because I am on a very tight budget this month and my daughter's car insurance, Service and MOT are due so want to try to help her if i can as she is being made redundant on April 30th
Hope you are all having a lovely day.....OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Good afternoon all, lovely day here. Had a salad Sunday lunch (with tinned salmon, cheese, pork pies, coleslaw, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, hardboiled egg, potato salad and home made bread rolls, followed by cheesecake a la Co-op) rather than faff around with a roast. Roast dinner next weekend probably. Just having a relaxing day before going to work tonight. been looking at a library book on making your own organic soaps and cosmetics - I have a whole stack of aromatherapy oils to use up, and there are some really easy recipes for beginners to try, so that's a project for the future (I am a sucker for really nice smelling soaps). Just had a play fight with the cat in the sunshine - now covered in ginger fur.
I do hope this fine spell is repeated at Easter as we are having visitors for a few days then.
Tenmah - re shopping. I do an online shop (sometimes Sainsbugs, sometimes Mt T's) for delivery on the day my salary goes into the account, then go to Aldis/HomeBargains/Co-op etc the rest of the month. You could do something similar, and get the stuff you can't get at Aldi/Lidl in the Mr T monthly shop? Certainly I agree about the convenience of online shopping - the few quid you pay for delivery is worth it in terms of the time and energy saved, plus avoiding the hassle of fighting with the world and his mate in the supermarket aisles. One life - your life - live it!0 -
That sounds a really good idea, thanks. I must admit that this morning I remembered why I hate shopping on a Sunday morning (or anytime really). I will also have to get more efficient as well, because when I came home I realised there were a couple of things I had forgotten, so on the way back from taking my dad home after dinner I called into the local co-op (three shops on a sunday arrrg) and have still forgotten some things!
Your dinner sounds gorgeous Nargleblast, just the sort of thing I enjoy on a sunny day. I cooked, because my dad was coming round (not a roast though) because I like to know he has eaten a hot meal, even if it is only a childs size portion.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Supermarket shopping is ok when you have the time to do it in a relaxed fashion during their quiet periods in the week. I avoid them like the plague at weekends - finding a space in the car park, grabbing a trolley, walking miles round the store avoiding idiots blocking the gangway having conversations right by the shelf you want to get to, queuing at the checkout, loading the stuff on to the belt, loading it back into the trolley, pushing the trolley out to the carpark (now where did I leave the blasted car? Why, when I've "lost" the car, does nearly every other car in sight look the same size and shape?), loading the stuff into the car, taking the trolley back, driving home, loading the stuff into the house etc etc etc. It must take two to three hours out of your life at times. Whereas with an online delivery you just have to be at home in a two-hour slot to take the stuff in and put it away. In that two hours you could - vacuum the house thoroughly or do a load of ironing or do some prep for the evening meal or do some baking or thoroughly clean a room in the house or read a book or magazine or sunbathe in the garden or have a relaxing bath or shower or play with the kids or get up to no good with your other half......time is so precious.
Talking of which - time to make a cake for tea, after which I will need to turn my attention to getting stuff ready for work. Enjoy the rest of the day!One life - your life - live it!0 -
I must admit I hate the troching about the different supermarkets trying to save money.

Morning All
There is so much I would do if I had more money! Have a cleaner for a start. I had the weekend to myself more or less because I had done all my housework on Friday. I can't always do that, but it made such a difference to me and the lovely weather also made for a lovely weekend.
This is the last full week at work for a few weeks, so just got to get through this week as quickly as I can!
Aw just heard Martin say hello to Chris Hyder on Daybreak. If you don't know, he is an MSE'r with a severe brain tumour who has a 'bucket list' of things he wants to achieve before he dies. One of them was for Martin to say hello to him, so he can now tick that off his list. I think the link is on Martin's blog somewhere. Such courage.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j
