  • Haha kdenty that is men for you!! I spent 4 hours this morning trying to decide what we were going to do for the day, by which time he was saying it was too late to be going too far!

Ended up having a nice afternoon along Southend seafront in the sunshine and spent the evening chilling out at his place with homemade fajitas and carpy tv followed up with some yummy rose.

Hope you have all had a nice day?

It is a Happy Monday as I'm home (work done yeay) and have planned burgers and chip butties for dinner.

I'm tired too. I keep waking up at half six. I though when the clocks changed it would get better but nope just half six again. Wonder if one of the neighbours works shifts and is disturbing me!

I'm still sulking at OH but about a 10% sulk now (yesterday was 110% sulking). Still cant believe he 'couldn't be arsed' to pop round to his mums with a card. I would love to see my Mum who lives about 500 miles away (not 5 like his Mum does).

Talking of cakes......I made a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache topping the other day, and the cake had finely chopped bits of beetroot in it, so I can truthfully say a slice of that cake will give you one of your five a day. Mind you, the slice would have to be the size of a paving slab.

Just a standard choc sponge recipe, add finely chopped or grated beetroot and bake till done. Melt a bar of milk chocolate, mix well into double cream then spread over top of cooled cake. Shove in the fridge to set. Cut into squares and store in airtight container so it stays soft. You could add loads of beetroot and make the mix into red velvet cupcakes, top with ganache topping as before and sprinkle with the edible red glitter you can now get (thanks Nigella for the idea!)

Beetroot is also nice finely chopped and scattered over a platter of smoked salmon pieces and salad leaves, dressed with a creme fraiche and herb dressing (Jamie O recipe I found in a magazine some time ago).

Ah well, time for a (decaffeinated) caffeine infusion.

  • I haven't heard of chocolate and beetroot cakes?! Erm... weird?

I'm tired too but no reason as I haven't worked since last wednesday! Have spent the last few days looking after MrS and trying to get rid of my sniffles, am looking forward to getting into my own bed this evening.
