Morning all. Well at last it is the Easter hols, it has seemed a long trek since Christmas.

Not much planned but hopefully will get a chance to catch up with housework both indoors and out and then some much needed chilling out. Nothing too energetic or expensive.

Hope everyone has a good break.

    Isn't the weather lovely?

It is indeed Ellie! Everything seems so much nicer to do, including housework, when the sun is shining! Going to do some this morning, with the intention of chilling in the garden this afternoon, so hope the sun stays for that long.

Have a good Good Friday everyone.....

    Hello all!

Guest rooms - done. Bathroom - done. bedlinen and towels changed and old ones washed - done. Son moved into downstairs study for the next 2 nights as visitors will have his bedroom - done. Saturday night's beef stew festering away in the slow cooker - done. Downstairs vacuumed and polished - done. Kitchen cleaned - well, no, that can wait until after tonight's fish and chips. Now off to find a spare corner of the house to sling a sleeping bag so kdenty can stay.......hmmm, downstairs loo? no, too much traffic, and son is not too good with his aim, if you see what I mean....airing cupboard? No, too much crap in there. I know, the cat's corner of the kitchen. He won't mind an extra body to curl up with.

Might not get back for a day or two but hope you all have a Happy Easter.

  • I am still gardening, got my lovely mum to drive me to Morrisions to spend £41 on plants, compost, gloves, 3 saver stamps (!) big pot thing, mini herb garden, various plants for a pound. am just cooling down before I venture outside to continue my task.............I think I secretly like gardening..........

    Happy Easter all

Nargleblast, that is an impressive list by the way!

  • I'm a long-time lurker on DFW but I hardly ever post. I've been thinking thought that perhaps posting might help me keep focused on the longterm goals though.
It's really hard because it feels like we've been chipping away at the debt for ages but don't seem to be making much headway. I know that every little bit helps but when you owe thousands, going without treats for the sake of paying off an extra fiver seems like a big sacrifice for very little difference to the balance.

A big chunk of our debt is from student overdrafts and student credit card because we thought once we graduated, it would be really easy to pay off in no time. Unfortunately, we didn't expect one of us to have health problems which has meant a lot of changes to our lifestyle and earning potential.

I know it's stupid but I feel really jealous of some of our relatives of a similar age who are really well off. I worked hard for years in the NHS before going back to university whilst working shifts as well before having to give up to care for my wife but we have hardly anything to show for it. It's ridiculous to think that we 'deserve' better but you know, life just doesn't feel very fair. I hate myself for wallowing in such stupid self-pity.

I'm just finding it hard to stay motivated. I think I probably need a metaphorical kick up the backside.
Debt at worst point = £8100 Debt now = £956
