I'm interested (nosey lol!) in what people are having for christmas lunch, perhaps it might give us some new ideas too!
We are off to my parents and it's always the same:
Roast Turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, sausage and bacon rolls, pureed parsnips, peas and carrots, brussel sprouts, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy.
Puddings are Christmas pudding or chocolate profiteroles (or both!).

Not too different We will be having:-
Roast turkey, gammon (cooked in ginger ale), sausages wrapped in bacon, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, brussels, greens, red cabbage, gravy, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, stuffing. All followed with my homemade Xmas puds (one is three years old this year and regularly 'watered' by my father with brandy so will be rather alcoholic), and / or mince pies, cream, Nigellas sloppy rum sauce (heaven!!!) and brandy butter.
And I wonder why I can't move by Christmas evening!!!!!0 -
same as you all bar the bread sauce, we have a turkey crown as we don't like the grey meat and there is no waste, I love all the trimmings, time consuming on xmas day and expensive but hey ho, love it!!
Prawn cocktail for starters and mince pies or profiteroles for dessert.0 -
As a vegetarian i will be having Quorn Roast with stuffing.
I am going to try and make some veggi sausages wrapped in veggi bacon, for a change.
Merry Christmas!0 -
3 bird roast (a pheasent in a chicken in a goose but can be any combination of birds which fit!), roast spuds, roast veggies (parsnip, carrot, courgette, peppers & squash usually but depends on whats available/best offer), sausages in bacon, cranberry stuffing (free with the roast, my butcher is lovely:D) & cranberry sauce 'cos it wouldn't be Christmas without it. Followed by Autum pudding (like summer pudding but made with autum fruits & sultana bread so resembles a Christmas pudding) followed by cheese (brie & red windsor if we can get it) & biscuits. No starter 'cos we just can't eat it all:rolleyes:

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Roast turkey crown, roast potatoes, sausages and bacon, red cabbage ( a real treat), broad beans (because I HATE brussel sprouts; I will peel the tough skins off the broad beans), harissa roasted carrots (because I fancy a change) and leeks in cheese sauce (because we have them every year). I stick to the traditional meat and puddings, but try to vary the veg.
Will probably have a prawn cocktail starter; but might go for the flat mushrooms stuffed with stilton and wrapped in parma ham that I read about in Sainsburys ...
Merry Christmas to one and all! That's Numberwang!0 -

Probably duck this year, neither of us like turkey and we had lamb last year and beef fillet the year before that. Did think about having Haggis, neeps and tatties as something different but will no doubt have that when visiting my parents up in Scotland from Boxing Day onwards (or poss New Years Day as I don't like steak pie that much).
It will only be the two of us on Christmas day which will be the lull in an otherwise busy week of visiting. We'll be most likely mountain biking in the morning, then back to some soup, chocolate and bubbly while the duck goes on. There'll be roasties involved somewhere but not sure what else yet veg wise.
No pudding - just straight to the cheese!0 -
