My OH is Swedish, so we'll be having a Swedish Christmas dinner on 24th, as is their tradition.

Hot Gammon Ham (lots of it)
    Pickled fish in mustard
    Pickled fish in vinaigrette
    cured salmon
    hardboiled eggs
    Swedish meatballs
    English sausages
    More and different Swedish sausage!
    salad
    bread
there would be some veg in Sweden (of a somewhat strange and interesting kind, cooked until unidentifiable and a non potato mash) but OH is convinced that cooked veg is poisonous so not much point just for me!

Their Christmas pud is a variation on rice pudding, so I'll probably do that too (BORING!!!)

Christmas day, I'll cook a small turkey and we'll do an english christmas dinner. And we'll dine on leftovers from both meals for the whole week!
  • Our xmas dinner:

    Soup/fruit salad for starter

    Roast turkey
    gravy
    bread sauce
    roast tatties
    yorkies
    stuffing
    sprouts etc

    Chocolate and beetroot cake/xmas pud:T

Then will go to mums for tea

Then boxing day down to mil for more xmas dinner:rotfl:

    I`m sick of christmas dinner already and I aint even bought it yet! It`s the same thing every year;
    Turkey,roast spuds,yorky puds,cabbage,sprouts,piggies in blankets,stuffing,sweetcorn,turnip.

    Not exactly exciting.

  • I will be having salmon or trout, but everything else as per the norm, roast pots, brussels, yorshire pud (home made), stuffing (home made), Vegetarian 'meat' balls, etc. I love it.

We only have a roast dinner about once a year so I look forward to it.

Being fed up of turkey, we haven't had one for years.

    This year we're having:

    Kangaroo steaks
    Roast potatoes
    Mustard mashed potatoes
    Green beans
    Carrots

Chocolate & Chestnut Cake (None of us likes mince pies/Christmas pud or cake) with ice cream

The rest of the day we'll 'graze' and generally indulge  (BURP!)

We are away in Spain for for Christmas this year (self catering).

Rather than trying to mirror an English Christmas in Spain (as what would be the point of paying all that money to do exactly the same?) we are just going to play it by ear on what we (a) can buy there and (b) what we fancy.....so if we end up eating egg & chips....so be it!!..it will still be fun :T

We are having the full traditional dinner for New Years Eve instead though!
