We are having roast goose this year, with pigs in blankets, sprouts, cauliflower cheese, peas and sweetcorn, roast potatos, butternut squash, sweet potatos and lovely gravey!!! Will porb do yorkshire puds as well.
After that lot (mixed with a ton of chocolate in the morning!!!) we dont normally have pudding, but for dinner, i do party nibbles and i always make a trifle!!!! No one likes christmas pud, but i have made a christmas cake this year for any visitors.
There are only 3 of us, and i always make too much food, but its good for bubble and squeak on boxing day, and also for any unexpected guests!!!!0 -
I love this at xmas... at my house this year and would like to do it. Excuse my ignorance but what do you look for in the supermarket? and how do you cook it? ta0

Usually have Roast Turkey, Yorkshire Puds, Roast Pots, Mash Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Brussels, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Mint Sauce and loads of gravy followed by Xmas Pud with Homemade Rum Sauce.
However this year we plan to replace the Turkey with Roast Beef (we don't particularly like turkey but have just eaten it in previous years as it is tradition). Also plan to cook a small chicken but does anyone know if you can buy chicken crowns (apart from at a butchers).

I am completely uninspired at the moment. I love cooking but for some reason can't get round to thinking about it this year. I've done everything over the years, most cuts of most meats/poultry/game etc....There are two of us and when I ask the OH he always goes 'dunno'.......
Might do a bit of research maybe and find out what other countries each on Christmas Day and do a meal from another country....0 -
Well as I've just been reading about odd 'english' traditions... our family tradition that is very odd is our Christmas dinner. Bangers and mash with roasted carrots, sprouts, gravy and bread sauce
Except OH has put his foot down this year and we're having chicken insteadDFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!
