Im owed Money by Orange...

...and it seems they are intent on not paying me it. Im not sure whether I have posted this in the right section so I apologies if I havent.

Basically they have charged me for a bill I did not owe. I took back a phone within the seven day trail period in January. I didnt use any minutes or even open the package, let alone activate the phone.

I took the phone back the next day back in January and everything it seems was fine, everything I was told had been cancelled and I wouldnt be recieving a bill or further correspondence.

To hell I wasnt!

Two weeks later I did recieved a bill!

Rang them up about it and they said yea sorry blah blah blah...we'll issue you a refund.

Four months on and Im still waiting for this refund that was supposed to be sent out in febuary when I enquired about it a couple of weeks ago.

Phoned them up again today and they said It will take another ten working days!?!? FROM SINCE JANUARY!?!?

I would like to know if anyone else have been through a similar or same senario?

Is there anything else I can do besides pester them?

Thanks.

    Hi

Go to your local orange store- I'm sre they'll be able to help you out. If not then keep ringing them, ask to speak to the supervisor or manager, or channel returns.

    Good luck :)

Thanks very much for your reply. I did write to them also twice. The first time they didnt get back to me, I waited a week. and I wrote to them again last week which they replied. The person said the same thing about it being with me a month from the final bill. Its two months from the final bill.

Thanks for the links also. I will look into it.

    Bless.

Apart from taking out the contract at a trial period which wasnt even used, nothing. I was charged for the months bill for a contract I cancelled and owed nothing on.

    How was the bill paid?
Surely it would have been via direct debit, therefore you contact the bank (which you should have done when you cancelled the contract) and they re-imburse the direct debit, then case closed. Tell me what bits we are missing?

What bill paid? They took money out of my account. I didnt pay anything? When you take out a trial mobile contract you dont pay anything until the trial period is past. They owe me money they took out from my account which they should not have!?!? I went back the next day to cancel and was told I would not be charged or billed so I assumed I didnt need to inform my bank. I have closed accounts before without giving my bank notice so I assumed I didnt need to do it in this instance.

They did not re-imburse me ANYTHING!?!? Why are you telling me they re-imburst my direct debit when I havent said anything like that? Have you read my original post properly!?!?

You say a bill was issued.

And you say orange owe you money as a refund.

Hence most rational people would assume that bill was somehow paid, possibly by direct debit as you presumably wouldn't make the effort to manually pay a bill you didn't think you owed.

    Are we missing something? :(

Listen flip face, we have read your post , you gave them your bank details for them to activate the direct debit (how else are they going to deduct money from it?) , when you recieved the bill it would advise that monies would be deducted in two weeks time, at that point you could cancel the DD by informing the bank, when orange did deduct the money, you still could apply for a refund under the DD garauntee scheme. If you wanted to sit back and wait for months for someone else to resolve the issue for you (which should never have been in the 1st place) then why chew our heads off?
Whilst Orange may have made an error, it does not appear you did much to help yourself.
Sorry the answer is not wrapped up in cotton balls for you :T

Yes orange issued me with a bill. The bill was taken by direct debit. They had no grounds to issue that bill because I cancelled the agreement and I had no obligation to pay them and they had no obligation to take any monies from my account.

So my question is why did they still take money from my account/issue me with a bill, when I owed them nothing?
