Morning all,
thanks for popping by Pippi ( been reading your blog & now thinking how to construct my own version of a jumper airer)
still mooching about in pj's but have consumed coffee & toast. Awoke with slight headache & can only blame the teeny measure of gin I had last night.
There's no doubt, that stuff is poison to me & it's such a huge bottle ... might have to buy a tiny one of Gordon just to check & see if it's that partiuclar brand that's toxic ot just gin itself .
That would throw my entire life out of kilter, that's been my staple drink for about 25 years now. Alcoholic drink of choice I mean, I dont pour it on my cornflakes or add it to my peppermint tea.
My sister is visiting this afternoon & we always have fun & she wont mind if the place isn't looking purrfect, she has a gorgeous kitty too.
Need to pop to the uniform shop & get some stuff for DD that she forgot to ask for yesterday, but I really dont want to go into town. I just cannot be bothered to pay for parking so might try to avoid that today & get on with pottering in the garden ( been thinking & realise I need to change the direction of the veg beds) & the laundry relay.
Just watching a new item on lawnmower racing :rotfl: looks great fun.
Washing marvel has finished its thing so I'd best get moving,
back later
xx
ETA : just seen Wordsmith s post& KC, thank you lovelies, must dash ...

Define "teeny".
Visiting lovely sisters are great - especially ones that you can have fun with and who don't notice the dust. Have a good afternoon."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Teeny really was teeny, in the bottom of the glass ( average long one) it was less than half a cm high. Honestly. When on the Gordons I readily admit to managing to quaff a good 1.5 to 2 cm measure
.
I just hate to waste good booze, but this stuff is just wrong. Sadly the woman in the fab shoes who was almost lying down whilst trying reach the back of the bottom shelf to see if more cheap yummy rose was there was disappointed. I've drunk the shop dry :rotfl:.
We went to the uniform shop & met manager who admitted that he was having some troubles with the 3 biddies who have been running it for the last 35 years. They are an unusual crew; sort of league of gentlemen meets Mollie Sugden. He was trying so hard but battling against women who know there will be a September intake of 280 children, yet order 150 blazers. I declined his joking offer of a job, but then thought that it might actually be quite handy as it will be 2 evenings a week & Saturday mornings ... perfect.
We got the cardi & a new pair of hideous shorts £4.50 as the ones we originally bought were wrong. Next stop town & first into the vodafone shop where we explained the problem with the phone & lovely girls said she'd try it with a different charger & to come back in a while. Off to primarni to buy yet more school tights for DD so that was £3.00 & then into boots to get the other stuff, that was another £6.00.
Then back to the vodafone shop & the different charger seemed to be working fine so the girl gave that one to us & we left happy. That's twice now they've been really helpful & sorted out issues for free :T. Turns out its a blackberry charge & DD ow reckons she might as well have a blackberry phone to go with it. My reply was along the lines of "dont' push it kiddo, more chance of getting me getting an i-phone".
Parking was £1.10 so we're getting good at being speedy. All spends from my pocket money as that's all the money that's left.
I am quite proud to declare that the week before payday I still have a 3 figure sum in my account.
The fact that 2 of those figures are after a decimal point is not the main issue.
More washing to hang out, will have to update sig & confess on clothes challenge later,

Do you not? Really? How bizarre! Ah well, takes all sorts!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Pah to where the decimal point is! Its the colour of the figures that matters - yours are still black, so its good2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Nah, I can't bear cornflakes.
Had a lovely afternoon with lil sis, she's such a love & I was sad to hear that she's been struggling with resurged feelings over losing our mum. She took it very hard at the time & yet still managed to be a great support & organiser ( whilst others , were & still are,far more self absorbed & concerned about how things affected them).
Dear sis always appears so glam, in control of everything & has a great job & such a huge & varied circle of friends that I feel how very dull & boring my life is in comparison & therefore don't feel she needs me to contact her as often as I probably should. I shall make amends & be a bit more big sis-ish towards her from now on. Just as long as she doesn't start lecturing me on pensions again.
Anyway, we sat out in the garden for a while as it was still warm & we must make the most of these last days of summer. A friend of hers ( who I've also met a few times) came up in conversation & I'd never known what his work was. He lives on a boat with his cat & I now know that he mainly writes freelance for a living, which means he can wander wherever he chooses. I remarked how this would be my perfect lifestyle & my sister agreed that he yes, he's generally pretty happy with life.
Later in the evening DD & I had our delicious curry & this time, knowing just how generous the amount is, I removed a portion before we cooked it, so that will be a meal for one or other of us during the week.
Today is all about Not Spending & pottering at home catching up on the tasks & chores I didn't do yesterday:
- ironing,
- listing contents of wardrobe & household cupboard
- hoovering,
- weeding 'veg patch'.
The final laundry load has gone in - had to wash DDs new uniform bits as they smelled of squirrels.
Washing marvel has just finished so I must throw on some clothes & head out to the garden with my basket,
Bye for now

Morning Lula,
Your weekend sounds pretty similar to mine comprising of ironing, bit of washing, preserving, tidying up the garden and a run
Better get a shuffle on then and make a start with the ironingfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Your poor sis ... its hard to imagine anybody could be so glam as to make *you* feel dull, Lula  thats kind of scary
But a little sis is a little sis, especially when grieving, and especially when grieving for a mum, I would guess.... I hope you can meet up more often.
Her friend really does sound like he has the ideal life :j that sounds wonderful. Sigh .... thinking hat is on
Hope you have a nice pottery sort of day2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ooh no KC, I'm not glam at all, I like my clothes & shoes, and when out & about try to make an effort, but today I am wearing old combats that were baggy but are now to tight to sit down comfortably for too long ( perhaps I should make them my MSE trousers :rotfl:) no make up, my Velma glasses & hair scraped back in a wispy scruffy manner
.
This would have been fine had the day gone as planned, but it hasn't.
I have done the hoovering & was doing the ironing when I felt something scratchy on my ankle, looked down & caught a flea . Cat came in & proceeded to have a vigorous scratch. I shooed him out, have thrown all rugs in the washing machine & we now have to go out to pet store to buy some treatment. I've always used the spot on stuff & then last month when he 'lost' his collar I decided to buy a flea collar & kill 2 fleas with one stone.
Clearly, the collar is rubbish so I'll have to treat poor beastie & then go back to using the spot on stuff.
Hopefully have caught it before major invasion occurs.
Need to start lists & then declutter my room. Again.
Annoying to lose a NSD for a flea .0 -
Annoying indeed love, and just be aware that glam, sorted types MAY be paddling away frantically to look that way. Not saying how I know mind X
I have the leisure suit and specs on today too and also smell a bit. I have no intention of washing!'The road to a friends house is never long'0
