Hello lovelies,
thank you all for lovely posts and your concern :A. All is absolutely fine - I've just had quite a busy week & chose to stock up on sleep rather than getting caught in the trap of late night posting. There were a few occasions when a good rant would have been very therapeutic, but actually a good night's sleep has much the same effect on allowing me to 'let it go'.
Thank you for DDs birthday wishes, much appreciated. She thoroughly enjoyed the gig the night before & although she did manage to be up fairly early for her birthday, it was a quiet day as planned as she was tired out.
She spent most of the day playing with the laptop - Sims addiction in progress - & eating birthday type food, although cake wasn't consumed until the following day.
Monday was back to work & all back to normal there; office full of the 3 Gs & Design Dude has reappeared . Personally, I like the guy & enjoy working with him, but I can now see what the others say about him not doing an awful lot. There is a rather frosty atmosphere up in their area & I'm not entirely sure how the temp is going to fit in, she's very young, very sweet & pretty & seems to be very good at what she does.
However, bearing in mind it is less than 3 months ago that we had a big ;redundancy meeting'; the staff are stunned that not only does the temp seem to be becoming permanent, but Design Dude has also made a return, when his departure certainly eased the financial pressure.
In this matter, both Goblin & I are in total agreement; the Big G's have no balls. I would also add that they seem to operate on the basis that whatever anyone else suggests, they take the opposite option, just to show that they have the power. Pathetic way to run a business.
Highly (no longer) Annoying is now on holiday ( with a bit of job hunting on the side apparently :shhh:) & I am tasked with caretaking some of his roles, which is fine as I now know that whatever I arrange, one of the G's will re arrange.
There is a sniff of possibility of another very large contract which would be good for my own plans of stashing as much money away as possible, I am not as yet required to work Fridays & so far, determined not to unless a suitable pay increase is offered.
So that's work job up to date & home-job has now become far more manageable although last week was very busy. This is a good thing as I've been spending like a demon.
The flea annoyance quickly turned into a full-blown crisis. I've been astonished at just how quickly the situation escalated, but having discovered that each tiny flea lays up to 200 eggs  I can see how a couple of the !!!!!!s can easily become a major infestation. The original products recommended by a certain pet store had as much effect as spaying water, both on the cat & carpets. I was not happy, having spent over £50 on the products . I am ow very best friends with the lovely girl at the pet department of nearby garden centre who went above & beyond her duties to soothe & allay my fears, contact various people for further advice, suggest the correct products that actually worked, overnight & also secretly provided me with the name of a website where I can buy the best spot on treatment for a third of the usual price.
I have hoovered the home like a woman possessed ( Kim & Aggie, I make you look like sluts) I have scrubbed, sluiced & disemboweled every nook, cranny & crevice in the place. I have washed everything that will fit in the washig machine & also vowed never to buy another bob martin anti flea product on the grounds that they are a complete & utter waste of money .
Dear cat has been combed to within an inch of his life & is wearing a bell on his collar to alert me that each time he has a little scratch he will be whisked off to the grooming stool for a through session. His coat is now so sleek I feel quite guilty that the previous comb we were using was so ineffective. But has eaten a lot of treats & quickly learnt that it is worthwhile to sit still & let the crazy lady do her thing.
Total cost of flea treatments = £72.99
Total cost of effective flea treatments = £25.97
Regaining control of home & permitted inhabitants = £ priceless .
Off to make a quick coffee & will then continue ...0 -
Good to hear from you Lula. Now I am a stalker I was a tad concerned for you. Lovely to read your update, though not the cost of moggy meds. You sound as busy as ever. I hope you managed to consume a glass or two of vino before falling into bed each night. I will feel severly let down if you didn't.
I never use anything other than ... something I can't remember - a spot-on, anyway - that might even be the name of it? Fleas are the least of my worries at the moment - my mama-cat had to be taken to the vet's yesterday for an enema. I was sent out in case I cried, so I think the process was pretty horrific (I could give more details, but probably best not if people might be eating their breakfast while reading). She is still there, poor love, as they couldn't get everything out in one go.
Oops, sorry to butt in - I just saw that you were going to continue. Do go ahead."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Hello dear Wordmsith,
so sorry to hear about poor mama-cat, I can imagine that is very distressing for all concerned. I hope she recovers soon.
The treatment my new best friend recommened is the same one that Karma suggested ... it's just rather annoying that I bought a 4 month supply of the other one, not sure whether to just abandon it & buy new one, or to continue with it & accompany with daily intensive grooming. It does seem wasteful to just bin it.
There's been a lot of family meet ups going on this week; DD1 was here earlier in the week, yesterday we visited others & DD1 is round again later to help with the roast dinner.
I've not eaten very well in the last week so made a huge pot of soup yesterday morning & need to make a batch of pasta later on today.
All the laundry is done but I do need to catch up with ironing. I wont be having my chore free day but it has been declared a Pyjama Day so I scuttled out to the washing line in mine covered with a long cardi - ooh the glamour :rotfl:.
Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday were NSDs so I've achieved 4 & I'm hoping today will be one too.
I had Boots vouchers & points to be used up by today so on Friday I headed into town to spend them. I was very pleased with the 3 for 2 offer & with the expert help of kind cashier I got the best possible combination of deals :T. I stocked up on my skincare products, got a free eyeshadow set, free mascara & free eye cream & now have £37 worth of points & saved £43 on products. Yes, I did spend £70, but I have about 3 months worth of skin care goodies - which is all part of the plan.
Grocery spends are a bit blooming scary seeing as we're only just in the second week of the month ... but with extra people on DDs birthday, her having friends round on Friday & needing stuff to take in for both school & guides, it's all added up to rather more than expected at £72.51p. I need to shape up quick or the lovely Pippi will be giving me a very strict talking to.
I'm meeting DDs tutor next week & wondering whether to broach the subject of the brand new, unworn & now missing PE hoodie. I'm rather annoyed as it has a name tape sewn in it & we were assured that any items that are lost, will be returned to the child if they are named.
Other than that, it should be a quiet week & hopefully provide some time to start planning & budgeting for the the next phase of finances. I've not managed to make any payment to the CC this week due to unexpected costs but home-job earnings did allow for top ups to the funds:
- Childcare £75
- Presents £30
- Fun £50 - been so busy we've not had time to use any yet
CB has been paid into my drip account so the holiday fund is already at £128.96. I have no idea what sort of holiday we're aiming for, but it's a good start to the fund.
I've also acquired 3 x £2 coins this week so they're in Jasper's tummy.
Long delay between posts due to lunch, long phone chat with friend & a bit of pottering. Now need to get ironing done & place tidied up a bit before DD1 arrives.
Aiming for 4 x NSDs this week & a big payment off the CC.
Bye for now

Hey Lula
Good to see you back.
Ages ago I lived in a flat with a friend who had a cat and the blimming thing got fleas  so we ended up using 'smoke bombs' - it really worked a treat as it gets into everywhere. Don't know if worth considering if it all happens again (god forbid!)
And definitely bring up the PE Hoodie, these things are expensive and you shouldn't take it sitting down!!!!
I'm rather  with Simply Be - they've charged me a ton of cash for late returns and stuff but they sent the wrong thing out to me so I had to wait for things to be delivered again. I need to call them tomorrow about all of this. I'm fed up with mail order to be honest. I'm never home when couriers come so they end up leaving it with neighbours and I have to wait for them to be in or else it gets returned as they can't reach me. I much prefer Royal Mail, at least it gets delivered to the postal depot which has good opening hours and I can pick up when free. It is close to home and work too so good for me!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0
