Souk is definitely not letting it slip :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Simplicity *and* cleanliness and privacy - you've summed up my needs exactly, Lula :D

And I'm loving the gliding into debt freedom ... I never got to grips with that, as my loan was an all-or-nothing thing, and the other was the mortgage, so good for you for working it through in your own head.

Definitely no need to go on any fancy diet - reducing portion size worked for me and **sobs sadly** eating way less cakes, biscuits, chocolate and crisps **bye bye my friends** and of course eating way more salad and vegetables

Still it worked to some degree, losing inches rather than lbs, mind you I'm hoping to get to the half a stone mark over the next 2 weeks

    Good luck missus

Oh hell - she's back  .... ( joking - tis great to 'see' you :j)

and I went to Waitrose this morning :eek::eek: .

Might as well get this out of the way then ...

Total spend was mumble, whisper, mumble £85.97

Now just calm down because there was method in my madness & not all that was on groceries.

Apart from the absolute joy of the lovely airy, clean shop & the trolleys with list holders that you can dry off using the free cloths they provide ... there were many bargains to be had.

I went a wee bit eco crazy. They had a buy 2 get one free offer on all cleaning products & the giant eco washing up liquid was also reduced by 75p per bottle so I stocked up. Big time :o:

3 x litre bottles of wash up liquid,
2 x bottles of squirty clean,
1 x bottles of multi surface clean,
    2 x bottles bathroom clean,
1 x bottles of limescale remover
    1 x 25 wash box of powder

    Total cost = £13.51
    +
    Toiletries = £ 8.86
    +
other household stuff = £17.49(4 rechargeable batteries @ £9.18 )
+ magazine = £3.80- but got lovely freebie shower gel so that's ok :p

Therefore my actual grocery spends were just £42.31 :D which is perfectly acceptable especially as £3.57 of that was on a coffee refill pack & another £8.92 was on fresh fruit. The 3 bottles of tonic are almost invisbile then ;)

I arrive home & start trying to cram my cleaning haul into the cupboard ... only to discover that I haven't in fact used up the stuff from my last stock up. I really think I'm fully stocked in cleaning products for the next year which was the aim. I am going to ace the grocery & household bills from now on.

It was quite exciting doing this shop as DD has just 2 days next week with the lovely childminder & then no more packed lunch spends until half term :j.

I love my lunches that I make up for the week ahead & when the the weather cools down I'll be using the slowcooker to make some soups & stews to take in.

In other news, I have learned that one of the home-job co workers is having sad family stuff to deal with so has now left. We believe that she may want to return in the future so both another worker & I are going to try to split her work between us for a while. The boss is a harsh & uncompassionate person so would hire another person & never let worker return once family stuff sorted. If we cover for her, at least she has that option.

I am a bit scared at what I may have taken on, but the nights are getting longer now & my own work-job situation is really not secure so I plan to use any extra earnings to set up a buffer fund. I hope that DD will fall into a routine once back at school & it is only 3 evenings a week & means I won't have to try to convince boss (& myself) that I should do 5 days a week at work-job. That really will be a last resort as my Friday's are my sanity day.

So far all I've done with mine today is go shopping, vacuum everywhere, drink coffee, post on here & sort the laundry, but it's MY day ( well 6 hours) to spend how I like & I realise that I am prepared to spend more time doing the home-job which I dislike to save that.

Now going to make more coffee, some toast & either watch Brief Encounter ( lovefilm) or read mag.

    Bye for now
    xx

Oh & should anyone hear an anguished howl at about 4pm today - don't worry - it's just my DD entering her room to discover that sleeping will be tricky tonight as everything that was on the floor is now on her bed & her tv has been removed.

    She has had enough warnings.

If she is anything like my late sister she will just chuck it all on the floor again, black bin bag it and lock it in the garage!

The tiredness is not an excuse Lula, its true. I have Mondays off ... 4 days a week I walk 2 hrs a day, do locks, those days within reason I eat what I want... The rest of the week are very small rations, still I put on a stone in the past two years... and now I think stuff it .. I work hard, am very tired when I come home... I really dont want to walk... I want a glass of wine and I am just begining to now accept I am the size I am... Never gonna be a size zero, I like a drink... I love chips.....:j I am not, overly overweight, but jeez this year I will be 48 and if I dont love myself now its never gonna happen...

Btw think you have a great relationship with your daughter....We love them, they are our friends, but we are also their teacher, and thats hard:) Wait till she starts to tell you off, ahhh for me its started..

PS: Loved your ponderings.... v interesting, however I still manage to waste a shed load of time online:)....Keep the Fridays to yourself you deserve them...

That's lovely of you to try and keep the other lady's home-job open to her - am sure the good karma will come back to you :)

Completely understand re. Fridays. I've only just started working from home again one day a week and hadn't realised how much I missed it.

When living an alternative way, whether it be aboard a boat, in a van, a tent or a 3rd world country, much of the day is taken up with 'simply living'; fetching or disposing of water, journeying to find food or growing it etc, to the extent that having time to waste on browsing online shops, real life shops or being bombarded by media about what 'everyone else' has, just doesn't exist.

That is so true and the reason why Morocco was my favourite holiday destination ever. The electricity was cut-off at 8pm every evening in lots of places. It's amazing once you get over the shock of it you adapt pretty quickly and realise that 6pm is a good time for showers/hair straightening/phone charging.

I stopped thinking about shopping because there was nothing I wanted to buy. The posh department store make-up was Rimmel!

There was no SKY and most places I stayed the only TV channel was Al Jazeera :D

It was just such a different lifestyle, most places I go I do the same things as I would at home. It's so much easier to do things differently when your surroundings are changed drastically.

    :rotfl:at DD's bedroom.

I'd love to go to Waitrose for a look, but I can't -it's not in Ireland.

Do you have a friend you could sub-contract some home-job to for a bit with an arrangement that it's only until the other lady is able to work again? If you can do it yourself and earn more, great but just in case it gets a bit too stressful.

Ooooh Mags, Morocco is on my wish list, that & Zanzibar, they just sound so exotic :).

I've been thinking about subbing the work but it's a bit tricky due to collection being from my home at 7.30am. Perhaps that should be the ultimate threat for DD :D.

We sorted the bed out together & she realised that most of it was just rubbish. She has plenty of storage space for stuff but each drawer seemed to only have 3 items in it !

Next step is the table in the living room that she seems to have slowly taken over & filled up over the summer :(. I can't be too mad about that though as the other table tends to have my paperwork on it ... hence meals tend to occur around the coffee table :o.

One load of laundry nearly done now which I'm not sure what to do with - & then we're heading off to town to buy school shoes, trainers, bags, socks etc etc etc.

Hope to finish off the bulb planting later the anemones form ebay have now arrived :).

Keep forgetting to say; when I bought the herbs the other day, I was given 4 free packet of salad leaf seeds.

If anyone would like a pack, then just pm me your address & I'll post out to you - I already have plenty :D.

Been working on The Plan, have actually written out stuff too.

Back later with news of spends & deeds
