That work situation *does* sound toxic, Lula :( they can't keep on like that long term - to the extent that you probably need to make sure your CV is up to date :(

I'd wondered what you were doing about your garden - glad to hear you're still planning to grow stuff :) I'm finally getting stuff planted, tho in this soil, its not like you see on the gardening programmes :o it takes ages, and I'm forever on the lookout to try to save any worms I find :) I certainly want to grow some salad, plus fruit and herbs - and I bought some of those containers for potatoes that kind of zip up, so they're easy to earth them up.

And omigod, the cc! Well done you! See what you manage to do! Never mind about the ironing, we just won't tell Souk. Since she's on holiday, this is invisible to her :D:D:D

    Thanks Karma,

work is just that & I'm fortunate in that I dont get emotionally involved other than to occasionally antagonise Goblin. I generally walk out at the end of the day & dont think about the place until I return.

This is largely due to having to concentrate on DD & home-job, then meals, homey stuff etc & a bit of relaxation.

I know for sure that unless a job that I absolutely adore turns up, then I'll probably continue with my current 'portfolio' approach to earning a living.

I waited & waited for tradespeople to arrive & eventually at half four I rang landlord. Apparently the call hadn't been logged :(, so no work sheet produced & the electrician who came round yesterday went on holiday today & had forgotten to pass details on to his workmate :(:(.

He said he was fully booked but would just tag it on to the end of his day. Was very apologetic so I said not to worry & come round in the morning instead. A bit annoying as I'd been waiting all day & desperate to colour my hair but hardly an emergency so I enjoyed another candlelit bath tonight :).

Well done on your gardening efforts KC :A. Due to the tree roots & local cat population here, I think I'll have to use a lot of containers for growing rather than just digging over the ground. It will be a bit more costly, but ultimately more user friendly & I can then fill all the borders with flowers. I'm thinking that large cheap pots can be a starting point, it doesn't have to be all about attractive wooden containers. I also need to find some indoor window box things to grow stuff in the winter. This place has deep windowsills so I should be able to find something.

I forsee trips to garden centres this weekend :)

I saw those flash floods on the news

With a landlord like yours, you can never move :) When I rented I didn't appreciate things the landlord did. I knew he did useful stuff but all I cared about was owning my own property. I was more than willing to take on the responsibility myself.

Now I'd happily go back but I also know I'd never have been happy if I hadn't done the ownership thing.

Ooh, tell us what you buy at the garden centre! Completely understandable about the cats wee and wotnot ... you wouldn't put anything at all in the ground that you're going to eat? Edible flowers?

    Morning Karmacat :hello:

I woud be quite happy to have the entire years worth of produce in the ground IF there were no kitties about. I've now realised that this is the main benefit of an allotment. The problem is that the local kitties - one neighbour's in particular  just swoop & squat on any bit of unplanted or uncovered earth. I now realise that this means I would have to net the entire patch & to do that entails having some sort of raised framework so that veg can grow & it also needs to be easily removable to gain access for weeding.

I have concluded that it will be easier to grow most stuff in pots / containers which the kitties won't be able to access & keep the current small ish patch for things like potatoes, onions & garlic, parsnips - essentially anything which needs to be cooked. Salad stuff, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots etc can all go in containers.

Electrician arrived on the dot & installed a new light fitting. It's huge & very public facility looking, but works & that's what matters :).

I've now recoloured my hair & have 2 loads of laundry on the line. It's rather windish out there, but suspiciously grey too so I've one eye o the window at all times, ready to run & unpeg everything very quickly.

I need to resparkle the bathroom this weekend but other than that not much chores wise :j. DD is resisting any sort of adventuring or exploration anywhere on the grounds that being at playscheme all week is very tiring & she just wants to chill. As 'chilling' is very cheap I'm letting her have her way.

I may well sew some name tapes in to her new items of school uniform later on. If I dont do it soon, it will all have to be done in a rush & I'll get very grumpy & cross that I didn't do it earlier. It's now less than 3 weeks until she starts & I'm quite scared. not sure if I'm grown up enough to be the mother of a High School student

We have the tasty looking curry for a meal tonight & I have a bottle of the rose wine & 2 dvds to watch thanks to nice guy at work who is happy to lend to me :T.

I've ordered the new enclosure for the laptop disk thingy & it was free with my Amazon e-vouchers so I sneakily slipped a CD in my basket too ...

    ... some time later

It started to rain, I called out to DD that it was raining & to please come & help me get the washing in. She retorted that it wasn't raining at the front of the house. I said that it bluddy well was in the garden & to please just move.

I started by folding everything neatly as per usual while waiting for DD. She didn't appear & as the rain got heavier I just grabbed everything as quick as possible, hurled it at the basket & then ran in, everything all crumpled & damp :( I was seething & asked 'madam' why she hadn't come out. Her reply ( from the pc table where she was sat watching the rain & the screen) was that she hadn't heard me ask :mad:. I could feel a snarl rising up in my throat & had a sudden urge to shake her :o.

Now faced with basket of damp, crumpled clothes that would have to be ironed & aired I suggested she get off her backside, get to her room & tidy it as she has been promising for the last week.

I know, I'm mean, but the alternative was for me to leave her stuff out on the line. I might do that next time.

I have now ironed everything & put it in the airing cupboard & madam has just requested a 'break' to get something to eat. Honestly, she's only been working at it for 10 minutes.

It's now relentless rain which is good for the garden & ensuring I stay at home & don't go out spending money. It does however, make me wish I was all coccooned in a lovely cosy boat, just peeking out of the window & idly watching the rain.

I'm off to peruse the Escape From Reality offerings on ebay.

    Bye for now
    xx

Hello & welcome WelshWoofer, thanks for popping by :D

Wordsmith - thank you for your very succint & perceptive post. I'm over my little temper tantrum now & the rain is easing so I might drag the Delightful Diva out to buy some plants & seeds. Yep, anything to avoid sewing in those nametapes ;)
