Lula! How fab! It really sounds like you had a great weekend, in spite of the Serious Talk About Money and the horrible weather :)

As for planning for the future - well, some of it has to be done, but I think you can safely limit it to paying off debts, starting a saving fund (I wrote "fun" :) ) and opening a good ISA - not necessarily the best, it can be most efficient timewise to just open a "good" one, rather than spend days hunting for the best. Then forget it and go have fun - previous sentence isn't advice, as this is exactly what you're doing, more support that you're doing the biz :D in spite of being bored rigid by it :D:D:D

Must get back into surveys - I remember how many Amazon purchases I've made in the past that have been funded by lightspeed. Must do better:cool:

    Hello lovelies,

been a bit absent due to lack of sleep, enthusiasm & head-space.

I was woken up in the early hours of monday morning by the cat leaping on me. Had a frantically busy day at work-job & a fair bit of home-job as well. That was NSD number 9.

Tuesday morning it was the bloody crows turn to wake me up - horrible noise at 4.30 in the morning . Another busy day at work-job but sadly it included a full staff meeting to make official what we had all feared & been muttering about.

Business has slowed, a lot, & as the overheads are fixed at present; if work doesn't pick up & no one comes up with a brilliant money-saving idea, then redundancies are imminent. It's the last thing they want to do, but that's what will happen. There's to be a review & another meeting scheduled for the beginning of July & then the axe will start to fall :(.

It's a bit of a concern at the moment, although when Grumpy & I were alone in the office I did say that I would be very !!!!!! off with him if I had to either a) go & work in Tatco or b) find a husband becasue he made me redundant :p. He did actually say that he wasn't going to make me redundant ... but he's liable to say anything if confronted, although I was laughing at the time.

I honestly couldn't say either way if my job is secure or not :undecided & I am very aware of originally being taken on as they were so busy ... on the other hand though I think there may be other people who have shown themselves to be less flexible in what department they are prepared to work in to keep the business going.

I certainly don't expect preferential treatment or inside info ( much :D) but with Grumpy out of the office tomorrow I am going to ask for a few words in private with Gropey to find out if it is worth my booking & paying for 3 weeks of childcare in August. I don't know if he is obliged to tell me, but I hope that he will be able to give me some idea because I need to start making plans & wedging out nearly £300 unnecessarily is not ideal when about to lose one's income.

The timing may not be ideal, but I am rather glad that I did buy the new cooker, laptop & pay for holiday. We may well only have the option of camping next year if the worst happens _pale_.

Depending on what Gropey tells me tomorrow, I need to make a decision on how best to tackle the CC. I can clear it if needs be, but at the moment I'm still hoping to make use of the 0% until the time is up as I think keeping all my funds intact is far more important at the moment.

Anwyay, que sera, sera & right now I'm trying to focus on getting DD organized for her school trip, whilst trying to fend off my Dad's financial agenda ( hah to that, now :p) remain calm & optimistic about the weather for Hard Rock Calling next week :j & keep up with all work.

I was woken up by the parakeets this morning & feel utterly wrecked. I've done 3 NSDs in a row though, & only have 5 more to achieve to hit target.

Another busy day tomorrow - shopping after work & then library meeting in the evening ( will be able to do lots more volunteering if. not working)

    Will report spends tomorrow,

    G'night
    xx

Sorry to hear about the work situation Lula - fingers crossed for you. Have only recently heard that I'm not on the at risk list at my place and I notice they included skill range/ flexibility as one of the criteria, so I hope your place do the same.

Oh and hurrah for you going to library meeting.

  • Hi hun,

Sorry that you are having a rough time at the moment, there is nothing worse than being woken up by blinking birds in the early hours. We tend to have a mixture of both birds and foxes, especially when the cubs are exploring, can get annoying and tiresome.

Sending you good vibes re your job, it isn't a nice feeling and I hope that they realise that they do need you.

Ditto from me ... and yes, its great that you've already got the holiday and the lappie. Also a good idea to check out if the childcare payment is necessary... tho what a pain that you have to ...

    Hey guys,

thanks for the support as always :A. I'm really struggling to feel positive today.

I was working with Cockney Rebel today & asked his advice about whether I should speak to Gropey re childcare, he agreed that I should & when I got the chance I did.

His answer was to say that he hadn't made any decisions yet about how to cut costs, but that staff redundancies was an obvious choice.

He said that he enjoyed working with me, had a lot of respect for me & fully understood my situation & why I wanted to know about childcare ... I was taken on during a busy time but that Goblin was already saying that she has nothing to do ... * ( more about that in a minute).

He would think on it & let me know tomorrow, but he could forsee a situation where he 'let me go' for 3 + months & then take me back on again if work picks up.

    * When I started there, the idea was to take over a lot of Goblin's tasks which would then allow her to return to her contracted 25 hours per week. She has not reduced her hours & continues to work full time although this clearly hasn't been necessary for some time. In fact, she has increased her hours, as, since her manic outburst she no longer takes monday morning off whereas she previously used to not come in until 1.30.

I really feel demotivated. I'm unsettled, edgy, anxious & actually couldn't face going to Sainsbugs after work.

The CC repayments are only feasible within the 0% time limit as long as I have another 4 months worth of salary coming in.

I'm actually bricking it now & know damn well that I can only last about 2 months on what I have put away.

Should I just clear the CC now ???

Aaaaaggggggghhhhhh dont' know what to do
  • I think you did the right thing talking to him and it is good that he gave you positive feedback, I can sympathise with your anxiety and it is rightful that you feel unsettled. Thinking of you tomorrow. xx
