13 Moons part 2 - Freebird & Frugabulous

Well, that has to be one of the most amazingly quiet days at work, ever.
There were just 10 phone calls during the time I was there & of those, 2 were from Gropey & 3 from Grumpy.
He ( Grumpy) survived the night & I think took pity on me after I regaled him with the tale of the lappie vs Gordon & how I am now utterly impoverished. I had to promise to never, ever send him somewhere cheap again so I did & then just to show that I wasnt that scared I told him that my car was sitting snugly in his executive parking space :rotfl:.
I had a rummage in the office & located an unused mouse which matches my laptop so gave it a clean & have decided to 'borrow' it until such time that it's disappearance is noticed
I whizzed to sainsbugs after work & the place was deserted so clearly that's a great tie to shop there. I couldnt be bothered with the whole 'pound-to-unleash-a-runaway-trolley' malarkey so grabbed a basket & whizzed round just gathering essentials such as chicken, fruit, veg & half price crunchie ice creams. No no, they're not just for me; Lord Grumpy has a great fondness for Crunchies too.
I was sent to the self service checkout which terrified me as these machines usually take great exception to my presence, my shopping bag, my purchases & sometimes even my money. I was helped by a strange but pleasant young man who had what looked like washers in his ears but he gave me the £1 parking fee back in cash so I'll fogive him for not being the marvellous Mak.
Todays spend was £19.37 which brings the total Household spends to £134 + pennies. I then had to stop off at the co op on the way home to get a gift card for DDs friend so that will come out of the presents budget.
She has now finished her SATS & feels quietly confident that she did well. DD1 came over in the usual whirlwind of chat & plans. It's so lovely to see her but I felt quite drained after she'd whirled on her way again . I can find plenty to say, but she makes me seem positively reserved :rotfl:.
The home is still pretty tidy but will need to be cleaned over the weekend & my main aim for this weekend is to get the leeks in the veg patch, get the grass cut & then tackle all the paperwork _pale_ It needs to be reduced & simplified & a comprehensive record of all internet based transactions & useage is also required.
My brain is hurting & I havent even checked my emails yet so heading off now to work on my task list for the weekend .
G'night

Things sound like they're calming down a bit, Lula, thats good. Not too much cleaning, please - veggies will do2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Ok then
My tasks will be based around the weather & today is mainly about washing & gardening. It's due to rain tomorrow so need to get grass cut & leeks in today.
Might have to whizz in to work as I've had a text to say that the laptop case is being delivered today. the estimated day was monday so I asked for it to to work, typically now that it will be delivered today & I'm not there.
A good start to the day with an email from Quidco saying that £22.54 is being paid today :j. That goes straight to the drip fund account & I think will take the laptop savings to nearly £300.
Load 1 of washing is on & I'm importing cd s to the lappie while I type. Isnt technology fab :T
Simplifying & streamlining life is the way forward ... fewer possesions = a much clamer & decluttered home & mind.
I know, I can now see where a kindle type thing fits in to the scene.
I need to really cherish this lappie as it holds the key to gateway of a simple life. I can see it becoming a virtual wardrobe for so many different areas of my life & yet however much I can store on it, I will still need to drag a real wardrobe around behind meunless ... I undergo a complete transformation & drastically reduce my wearable possessions.
Will need to stick to roaming the warmer places so less is required.
Enough rambling & musing for now, I need to produce a task list ...0 -

Grumpy sent me a text to say that parcel had arrived & they were all placing bets as to what it contained
I shot in to collect as the quicker lappie is encased, the happier I'd be.
Grumpy suggested there were tasks I could get done & I replied that I was quite amenable but that the second I picked up the phone, or turned my pc on then the pay clock would be ticking ... he declined.
Decided that while the car was out I may as well get some fuel as running a bit low so crept into nearby Chavstown & did the deed at Tatco spending £43.12. Couldnt face the tyre machine so saved myself 20p there.
Have to take DD to party tonight so will need to get car out again & having already destroyed a NSD I might get the remaining few grocery bits we need & that I didnt fancy getting in Sainsbugs yesterday.
Second load of laundry now being washed & lappie safely ensconced in a fab fuschia ( what else) case, so no longer at risk from being scratched but I may well order up the keyboard condom as I have amazon cash available so may as well use it for something good.
Off to make a start on the grass now. I may be some time ...0 -
Hi Dan ( lurkist
)
& Se999 ( not seen you about for a bit, hope all ok?)
So, second lot of laundry now drying outside & grass cut.
Floors all ( like there's loads of them :rotfl:) hoovered & the place is pretty tidy apart from the paperwork & files baskets ( overflowing).
It seems that all keyboard condoms on Amazon are made for US style keyboards which have a different shaped return key so wont fit. Such a shame as they are available in so many fab colours. I see a gap in the market ... if only I knew how to produce & mould keyboard shaped condoms I woud be rich beyond my wildest dreams.
I rather naughtily spent £40 on a new phone for DD. She spotted it in the store when I was researching new ones for me ( still have the old faithful Bob, in case you're reaching for a turnip) & I mentally tabbed it for a future present. She keeps looking at it online & I realised that it is in fact £10 cheaper when bought direct online.
So I've ordered it . If she gets great results in her SATS then I will give it to her as a well done gift. I'm hoping not to have to renew club penguin membership this year, which is the usual end of year great report reward & is the same price - give or take a couple of squids - as the phone.
I'm almost done loading my fave cds so am now going to have a half hour break to sit & eat some crisps & read a chapter of a book.
Bye for now ...0 -
Hi Lula,
Was away over easter with limited internet or time to access it, and been on catch up on mse since, love reading your thread there's always so much happening. Your 'freedom days' from the clothes thread have changed my image dramatically - I was brought up to save best clothes for special occasions, now they're all getting their freedom and it's fun too, so thanks for that.
Anyway, sorry I've been lurking more than posting, but normal operations will resume shortly, but then it's going to be sporadic internet for a while again.
Enjoy your new lappy, and hope the other gets fixed up Ok for DD. Pleased to hear she's happy with the SATs.0 -
Hello again se999,
lurking is perfectly acceptable, I just that I hadnt seen you about for a while. Glad that all is ok & hope you had nice easter break too
Nice to hear that the freedom days have been so useful but I cant take credit for them ( unfortunately) they were the utterly brilliant invention of the awesome human whirlwind of activity aka fedupandskint :T.
I've not posted much on the CCC recently other than to link to a great article about the earthly cost of too much clothes shopping but I too have been having a few freedom days & on monday I was told I looked 'very 50's glamorous' by one of the guys at work. I was particularly chuffed as apart from a bought from new plain black 3/4 sleeved scoop neck top I was head to toe in ebay - wild poppy print skirt, black pointy shoes & black bag - total outfit cost certainly no more than £20 .
I've no more chores to report but was pleased to receive a free lovefilm today - last week they sent me back the one I'd just returned & I was not happy. One Twilight film is quite enough :rotfl: so we have a freebie for this weekend.
Still no word from the Inland Revenue re the mystery money but I did get a 15% off an online purchase form M&S. Apparently I havent used the service for ages & they want to encourage me. I dont like the delivery cost but do have a £25 gift card stillunused so might see if there's anything I want.
Other good news is that the phone I just ordered for DD tracked at £5 cashback via quidco so in reality it has only cost me £35 - £15 cheaper than in the shop :T.
The laptop case has also tracked ... but only at £1.35. Turns out that a shiny white i-phone is worth £40 cashback  ...

Not sure why but the 50's look was in this week for me too. Black cropped trousers and a pink linen top with black kitten heel shoes, it looked so Doris Day 50's to me when I looked in the mirror. Mine was all sales bargains when travelling with hubbies work in Finland a few years ago, and clarkes factory shop shoes
I hate paying full price for clothes, it seems like a major defeat!
Well done on the phone cashback0 -
Oh dear oh dear oh dear Lula, I saw that about the phone! LOVE the fifties look. It really works for me too!'The road to a friends house is never long'0
