Well :hello: lovely people,
I'm totally astonished to find myself DF on the 1st April & not a fool in sight
While I think up something clever to say you just have a listen to this :
Go on, turn it up & let go :j
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVGf3ePIO04
I've spent the last 3 years with pretty much the sole aim of getting to where I am now; & now that I am here, I dont know quite where I want to go next  :rotfl:
I dont suffer from an overactive ambition & my career craving is almost defunct. Have no desire for a mortgage which is a good thing as it would require both a deposit that's 3 times my salary & a husband & that is so not my thing right now. (NB - Johnny & Brandon, your applications will be fast tracked to the future for when I am ready )
Still love the idea of a boat, but not enough to give up my current home for one, might have to just let that pipe dream go.
I do need something to work towards or I'll sink back into mass consumerism for the sake of it, so it had better be the camper van :j
I do need to formulate some kind of regular ISA / Pension savings plan & would like to have about £1,000 floating around in usual savings account :rotfl: but there are a few things I do actually need to get for the home so am now off to apply for a 0% CC
No really, I am :rotfl:

Hurrah for debt freedom!!
I became DF in December and STILL trying to work out what to do next :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well done! Freedom is a much underrated commodity in life, I think.
While you're deciding where to go next, don't forget to enjoy the feeling of waking up and going through your day free of debt for the first time in a decade
Hope the work crap with your crappy colleague gets sorted out soon xx.0 -
I have just applied for the Co Op members cashback CC @ 0% for 6 months.
You may think that's sheer insanity, but never have I said that I wouldn't have another CC.
I have just learned the long & hard way that a CC is a tool that used correctly, can be a very cheap way of borrowing money. I applied for this one because I will get cashback on all my spending, rather than no cashback for using my Co Op debit card. It also gives me 6 months to buy the cooker & sofa we need.
Really, we need those items. The novelty of opening the door of a cooker that has but one heat setting (very hot) with a grill pan handle has now worn off somewhat.
It's probably very unsafe for an 11 year old to use & possibly makes me a worse mother than feeding her 2003 vintage tinned blackberries, or making her sit on a sofa that is really a futon-shaped medieval rack that causes numbness within an hour & complete paralysis within 3 .
I reckon I can get these 2 items for about £1,000 ( using quidco of course) which is why I have applied for a £1500 credit limit which will cover my usual monthly expenditure of fuel & groceries etc. on top of the initial purchases.
Uncle Richards CC is now redundant but as there's no fee or other costs, I'll keep it for now as an emergency emergency emergency use only CC.
Once the 0% deal on the Co op CC has run it's course & purchases been paid off then I will probably apply for another 0% if there are any further large purchases to be made. I'm hoping there wont be, although if a VW camper or MGB Roadster in Red with wire wheels & chrome bumpers happened across my path, I cant guarantee that they wouldnt be categorized as a 'large purchase'
This ^^^ is why I'm still on DFW & need to stay here for a while.
I seriously considered having a go at stoozing ... but thankfully recognised that I am not disciplined enough yet. I need to settle in to living within my means & learn to be happy with that & my budgeting skills before taking the next step up to 'playing with money'.
I am also aware that may never happen so have put that thrill to the back of my mind for now.0 -
Thanks Hypno & Dan
I suppose it's a bit like a lottery win in some ways, need to come to terms with it's existence first, before trying to deal with it.
I'm resisting the urge to run up & down the street shouting " Free at last, free at last". But only just0 -
Wootness for debt freedom (I will get there! I will get there, I know I will get there

Happy new diary ...it does feel strange being debt free at first but you'll get used to it I'm sure. Can see you've had a serious thought about your future and the CC is a good idea especially with cashback.0
