Hoi baldy - s*d off! only joking! :) good ideas!!!! It is hard when they need you to have such a large deposit - i'll really need to think on this one!

In regards to my treats yes I think I will need to do something like this - I had an idea tho as my phone is due an upgrade on the 22nd so i will wait till then and get my iphone which should keep me happy for about a month or so at least :) hehe!

To be honest im not really going at this all guns blazing like I could - im taking it a bit easier with being on MAT leave pay and still wanting to do things this year - will get there tho!

Im enjoying having my diary as I have about 10000 things swimming round my head so it is nice to put it all down somewhere :)

    Good night money savers x

  • Awww man.... just typed a whole thing and then deleted it or hit the wrong button or something! So i'll start again!

Have put £100 in the savings today so im at £450. I'm going to build this up to £1,000 and then we will need to use it every now and again as a buffer for bills when my wages drop. If we use some of it we will then top it back up again when we can so it should stay around the £1,000 mark. So once im at £1000 will work out how to get rid of debts/ start a mortgage deposit fund!

I heard back from tax credits and they have given us £130 from when the baby was born till 5 april. I dont know what the monthly amount will be going forward as they didnt say - I imagine it will change when our P60's arrive anyways - will give them a call when they arrive. Does anyone know if I am supposed to call tax credits when my salary goes to Matrnity pay and let them know or do I wait till my p60 arrives next year??? hmmm...

Oh well - need to nip out today and need to buy a birthday gift and post some letters :) so not a NSD today.

Best go update my signature x

  • Hello and happy friday :),

Not alot going on today - not a NSD today as I need to buy a birthday card and some batteries for the baby monitors. Going to take the baby a nice alk to the shops in a bit!

So I think I will just wait till my phone contract is getting renewed on the 22nd and get my iPhone which is something to look forward to :)!

Not making dinner tonight as going to families for dinner so thats a saving and means I dont need to cook! hooray!

Trying to think what to do with our weekend - might just go for a nice walk and have a quiet one.

I was thinking of my previous post about not going for the money saving all guns blazing and I think this is best especially with the baby - its his first years of life and I dont want to be scrimping and scraping through it and not be able to enjoy outings etc because of money. I'm instead going to go at it half speed for the moment - putting away/ paying off half the amount I could if I really went for it - this means we can still enjoy a nice lifestyle :)!

Don't have a plan yet for the debts once I have my £1000 saved. I think I will pay off that pesky abbey loan first as it is the lowest amount - would be lovely to be rid of this as we would have an extra £160 per month. After this months payment there is £472.56 left - which I could probs get rid of in 1 month... Yes I will go for this one first!

Have a nice weekedn all - im off to do my house work! x

Happy friday! Hope you had a nice day.

The i phone is definately something nice to look forward to.

Sounds like you have got a good plan for paying money off, I don't think it is worth living in misery either. You want to have a nice time with your baby and anything you can get paid off is a bonus.

    Hi

I wish I was as organised as you although I am starting too. Like you I have lots of things swimming round my head. So today I started a diary to help me and I actually feel like I got lots done today.

On the tax credit front I would give them a call when your salary goes down, I always did although I have ended up with lots of paperwork from them.

Well have a good friday evening. I will pop in again to see how you are doing.

Well today wasnt a NSD infact we went clothes shopping! :0! We spent a total of £23 though which is amazing for us as that would usually be £230! I got a pair of boat shoes and a pair of Brouges and OH got some cream chinos! We quite like our fashion so I thought we did well just getting a few bits!

Then we went for food shop and it was £60.83 which was £10.83 over budget but still better than usual!

Its a gorgeous day and I have loads of energy so im off to clean and tidy (obsessive :)) x

  • Hello,

Well I had a nice weekend and the weather was lovely, I didnt spend any money and even got a free dinner at my parents yesterday so that was good.

Today I went to town with my Mum and bought lunch - i also needed some new bras which I got in M&S but I had £55 worth of gift vouchers to use so I only paid £5 really for my items :) happy days!

Tomorrow I am going to look at a couple of nurseries and will need to compare prices! The one I looked at first which is in the ideal location is going to be £512 per month for the 4 days a week I need it so I want to see if I can get a better deal - I doubt it but I shall see.

We also booked a trip to london yesterday for a wedding we have to go to - it is going to cost £400 for the 3 of us for flights/ hotel and a car to transfer us (booked with other family so got a good deal) I think I would like to take about £500 spending money too as we are going to go shopping while we are there! So have to have this saved by August this year.

The next couple of weeks should be good for putting money by as the bills are low!

    Bye for now x

Hello Booboo, make sure that you feel fully happy with the nursery. When DD was 2 I had to look for a nursery and ended up with the most expensive one mainly because the other ones did not feel right, and the expensive one was perfect.
    Halifax CC £1029/£2490, Tesco CC [STRIKE]£0/£3203[/STRIKE], Tesco loan £15431/£15808, Carloan1 £6743/£8241, Carloan2[STRIKE] £0/£3813[/STRIKE]

  • Thanks Flee,

I went to have a look and the prices are all the same - I imagine it will be standard for this area - £32 per day. At the moment I need to put the baby in 4 days per week but my Mum is looking to go part time so she can have him 1 day a week. She said she would let me know in the next month or so. You wouldnt believe how people want to change their plans so they can spend time with the baby - its very strange but they adore him and want to spend as much time with him as possible!

I would then be looking at £32 per day x 3 days a week = £96 per week which is £384 per month which is actually fine for us and I get childcare vouchers through my work so that would help too - I dont know alot about childcare vouchers though so will need to look further into this.

I did go and see a fancy nursery too which was £42 per day so more expensive but I felt that in comparison it wasnt worth the extra money for what they offer.

No new money in the bank until thursday now so won't be much to report till then.

    Cheerio x

That is lovely your Mum will hopefully be able to look after baby one day a week. Wish my Mum lived nearer as think she would love to do the same.

I agree that you need to be comfortable with the nursery so best to go for the one you like best rather than cheapest/most expensive.
