I have swallowed the B1 tablet, also an anti histamine, have a Bounce cloth hanging out of my pocket, rubbed a lemon on the bites (the pain was worse than childbirth!!) and will try to get a bracelet thingy.

Thanks ladies for your advice. Visions of Puddleglum's DH had me in stitches!

at least at the end of child-birth we have something to show for it ;)
(but it does seem we forget the pain very quickly, otherwise why would any of us ever go through it a second time - or more!)

    TECHNICAL QUERY:

Anyone else having problems on certain pages only of certain threads only (ie this page only on this thread for instance) in not being able to see the last two characters on a line?

It IS only certain threads and certain pages on those threads...

Reason...that "box" with ads on the right-hand side of the "page" - ie the one that is headlined with "Forum Jump" down to "Free MoneySaving Email" down to "Latest MSE News" is "intruding" into the space in the "box" that posts come into by just that 2 characters.

Bit of a nuisance - now I've recently discovered how to bring up just one single post on a thread (ie by clicking on the post number in top right-hand corner) - and obviously cant do it on "pages" where that 2 character space has been "intruded upon" like this...

(eg the "s" on the end of "characters" on line 2 of this post is missing because of this...)

EDIT: Have just discovered that if I go into the "older style" page look for MSE - that the problem isnt occurring. Its just coming up with that current "newer style" setting we have had for the last few months. Hence a few peeps may not know what I'm talking about - as they still have the "older style" MSE look.

Been in bed for most of the day - not feeling too great. Just achy and a bit headachy and very tired. Felt like I hardly slept last night.

Was about to get off to sleep when a friend turned up out of the blue very distressed. Her seventeen year old daughter has a large lump under the armpit and is being sent for a CT scan next thursday. I'm expect it will turn out to be just a cyst but still what a worry!

I was planning on making pizza's from flatbreads tonight but forgot I have no parma ham and no tomatoes so am thinking I may just make some pancakes if that is agreeable as I don't feel like popping to the shop.

SandraScarlett: Are they midge bites? Avon's Oh-So-Soft skin oil is repellent to midges. It doesn't seem to matter which perfume you use (there were two last time I bought any and I've tried both). I was told this by a gardener who also told me that the oil used to be mentioned as a midge deterrent on the Forestry Commission's web site - a kind of official seal of approval! The downside (there usually is one!) is that it is oil, not cream, and therefore quite messy to apply. Our allotment site has evil midges and they seem to like biting me on the scalp, so if I forget my hat I usually I end up putting some oil in my hair which makes for an interesting 'do, to say the least...but since I wear my hair very short, it washes out quickly. Elsewhere on the body it's fine and if you buy it from Avon online, it's sometimes on special offer. (Okay, Mrs Avon Lady, can I have my fiver now? ;))

Yup - the avon stuff is fantastic

Seems to be on offer just now so will be making a wee purchase myself I think! (have had a few bites in the last week or so)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Oh dear! Sorry for chuckling but ....... hope you got some relief.

I get terrible bites that end up the size of 10p pieces. I've found the only thing that gets rid of them is the liquid ammonia sticks you get (used to get them abroad but found one in a £ shop the other day). It stings like **** (use whichever word you like in here) for a couple of mins but kills the bite!

Ruby - hope you're feeling a bit better & friends DD is OK.
Aril - sorry about the job.
Inspire - how'd the interview go?

Tied up in meetings ALL day and pretty wiped out (was in for 9 hours and managed about 1 at my desk).

Viewing a house tomorrow and trying to have a bit of a tidy/throw out here in case I do decide to move!

  • Hello Darnt comment on any tv programmes other than to say Im real although they show you in the light they want to which is a shame cos its made most of us look like lunatics. Im a toy boy loving ,Ibiza, Hippy type of person myself.
Im proud of my daughter she had her first seige all by herself. Squatted in the council offices and turned their reception into a bedsit.
They wont be telling her porkies any more !
Ear garlic to deter midges or put vinegar in your bath water. It happens a lot with horses and bothe work with them.

LL sometimes the only way to make people listen is to make a stand for yourself, afterall nobody else will these days.

Hello All hope you're all well?

My purse is now down to an average of 17p per day so not so good :(

When I came home from work I looked at my apple tree and it has absolutely loads of buds on it. I'm going to have a real glut of apples this year so if anyone wants to pass me some ideas then I would be most grateful. Pie, crumble and cider lol.

The tree has hardly had any fruit for the last couple of years and I've left the weeds to grow in the garden and the bees like my old shed so I let them do their own thing so I suspect it's my reward from them. Well I like to think so, and they don't really bother anybody so I won't panic over sharing my shed cos I don't use it anyway.

Hope everyone's not too bad, hoping to get washing on the line tomorrow :)
