I sympathise Lesley - but I'm sure you can happily post any recipes/foraging hints/running a household cheaply hints/etc that you care to share with us.
It gets a BIT easier once one has become a "well-established" poster - and its therefore clearer that "Yep...all...this really is a genuine poster and not some business hoping for free adverts".
Its okay - WE can see that you arent said "business hoping for free ads" - so do keep posting lass.0 -
Lola I'm glad that Hannah is recovering, poor little mite. Just wanted to add a link that her daddy might be interested in here.
Due to my own circumstances I now have a lot of friends also supporting bereaved children and one of my friends found that place very helpful. If you see Hannah I hope you can keep talking to her about her mummy. We still talk about my son's daddy most days, and it really does help them. Hugs xxx0 -
Hello fellow frugallers:j:j
Please all keep posting- I find your tips inspirational.
Not much spending going on here at Gnatbottomed Towers - the small person and I have been discussing money related things. He came home from school on Monday with details of a skiing trip the school is proposing...cost £800:eek: Bless him...he looked at me and said I'd much prefer to go to Ypres with the school and on scout camp next year as he thinks [possibly rightly] that he'll personally find that a lot more fulfilling and he understands that we operate on a limited income.
For those who like chocolate I can report that £land do Maltesers far cheaper than other outlets in my area- I've got some to decorate the tops of my two hm birthday cakes I've got in the freezer for later this month:D
This is probably an unoriginal frugal idea but I have just realised that CS bed linen- particularly pillow cases would be a good cheap source of fabric for craft projects. Another thing for me to investigate methinks!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Oh that did make me laugh!!!! You must be like the three monkeys, rolled into one!!!! Wonderful news about Hannah's recovery, but such a sad loss for one so young.
It's my birthday on Saturday, but we are celebrating on Friday, cos DH is in hospital on Saturday.
Going out with DD and family for a meal in the evening and garden centre mooching and lunch in the day.
Mean May hasn't happened yet, but I live in hope for the latter part of the month. Just heard Gas & Leccy prices are likely to increase by 15%, so I think I shall have to be like Wee Willie Winkie with candles!!
Have a good rest-of-week and weekend everyone.

well I don't know if it will come to anything but I've just had my photo taken for an article in the Telegraph about living frugally. No idea if or when it will come out, they wanted to speak to a single parent....0

Tea Loaf
8oz sultanas
4oz raisins
4oz currents
6oz demerara sugar
1/4 pint hot tea
1 medium egg
8oz S F flour
1. Mix together the dried fruit, sugar and hot tea
2. Cover and leave over night
3. Heat the oven to 160C, 525F or Gas 3. Grease and line the base of a 2lb loaf tin
4. Add the egg, beat well and then stir in the flour
5. Place the mixture in the tin and bake for about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours until firm
Always use hot tea so that the sugar dissolves and the dried fruit swells more easily!
Result is this:
There's no fat in the cake so it's reasonably healthyBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
