Fingers crossed for you SF. You will be in a strong position now you have a year under your belt and maybe there's a permanent contract waiting for your name to go on it.
My observed lesson went really well last week. I wheeled out my biggest gun by telling the students what it was all about (I know, cheating) the normally silent brigade talked up so fingers crossed. Just an interview to go now.
Tried the Sm@rt Pr1ce tuna this evening and it was really good, claiming to be dolphin friendly as well so I won't get the tins from AF anymore. Have a tin of SP sardines to try as well so hope that they are as good.
Best wishes to all - the 10 o'clock news is starting - hope the budgets hold up given the state of the economy.

Hi guys, anyone else noticing the prices of the supermarket basics sliding upwards again? Several of the items I buy had incresed by a few pennies - not much when said quickly, but amounting to over 10% increase overall, so not too good for us who already buy the cheapest of the cheap. The UHT milk has also increased from 49p to 52p here, although it's still a good saving on having to go into town every few days for fresh milk.
Time to get more planting done, the grocery budget will certainly need subsidising with home-grown stuff.
Saw a bit of superscrimpers last night but wasn't impressed - I missed the part it told you where the student got her spending money from in the first place. Surely student grants can't cover all that amount, can they? She was spending more than our (3 of us) combined household income on herself! :shock:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

petrol £15, but that is the first petrol I have bought this month so that is great!
bag £15 - reduced from £60 and I NEEDED it! :-)
DVD's and a magazine in Mr S that I didn't need but wanted, feel a bit low today but - got home to my bank statement which looks really good! Just need to get back on frugal track now0 -
Frugal - it didn't say how much student loans she got or how much she earned, but that she used the bank of mum n dad.
Can't believe she spent £17700 on clothes, food, make up and drink. Not unless her parents are mega rich, then no parents would fund that for a year. It wasn't even her rent included.
To me, it looked like that one was made up. She had no emotion nor any desire to change anything.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Oooh, Tumpty, fame calls! Do tell us when it comes out, won't you? (But be careful or you may be deleted like L--y L----y !)

Well, nor would I, if I found someone stupid enough to foot the bill for £17k worth of self-indulgence! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: But it's true, they do make up outrageous cases as it gets the punters saying, 'Did you see...?' and then the viewing figures go up. I was just about to type, 'Perhaps L--y L----y can tell us,' but of course she can't....'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Evening fellow frugallers:j
Botheration- it looks like my lovely job is to finish on 31st July. I've been pretty much expecting it but it still a shame as I've so enjoyed my time there. Looks like I shall be hanging around here and the OS board like a bad smell I'm afraid.:rotfl::rotfl:As the main bread winner I shall need to find something else but thankfully due to years of frugal, careful living we have a reasonable savings buffer, no debts and the mortgage will be completely paid off in November. Done some serious counting of blessings today and am now off to find my stiff upper lip and tin hat whilst consoling myself with a glass of hm red vino.
Started off my frugal campaign by a savvy weekly shop of £32 and invested £1.99 in a lovely pottery cloud shaped clock with a rainbow painted on it which can go in my gift box from the CS
Hugs to all

I hope one of you lovely ladies can help me, with both prevention and cure advice. I am a magnet for insect bites, and the last straw today was when I received 2 on each klimb, and one, dare I say it - on my right buttock!!!!
:(:(
The urge to scratch is incredible, and DH's "jolly" remark ......"that must be a real pain in the a**e", did not go down well. I've read that putting your own saliva on the bite helps (for a nanno second), and that a good prevention is eating garlic (I'll have no friends), rubbing oneself with essential oil neat to relieve the itching and 2 more that intrigued me.
The first was to take a B1 Vitamin pill daily to prevent the bites, and the other was to rub oneself with Bounce cloths (the type you use in a tumble dryer) and top leave one hanging out of a pocket. Anyone heard of these? And do they work?
I've tried a clicker thingy that omits an electric current, to no avail, and my bites have been annointed with a bicarb mixture. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especial by my throbbing cheek.
