DH is a martyr to bites and he has a sort of coiled wrist bracelet which he wears at night which seems quite good. He found it on the Internet but you may find them in larger chemists.
In the hottest weather when he is most likely to be bitten he goes to bed wearing tights, full pajamas and a balaclava with the bedroom window firmly closed. I sleep on the sofa!"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

Aril - I'm also sorry to hear about your job. But it sounds as if your careful planning and scrimping will soften the blow, so well done on that front.
SandraScarlett: Are they midge bites? Avon's Oh-So-Soft skin oil is repellent to midges. It doesn't seem to matter which perfume you use (there were two last time I bought any and I've tried both). I was told this by a gardener who also told me that the oil used to be mentioned as a midge deterrent on the Forestry Commission's web site - a kind of official seal of approval! The downside (there usually is one!) is that it is oil, not cream, and therefore quite messy to apply. Our allotment site has evil midges and they seem to like biting me on the scalp, so if I forget my hat I usually I end up putting some oil in my hair which makes for an interesting 'do, to say the least...but since I wear my hair very short, it washes out quickly. Elsewhere on the body it's fine and if you buy it from Avon online, it's sometimes on special offer. (Okay, Mrs Avon Lady, can I have my fiver now?)

I second redglass, Avon stuff works a treat.
But it is also down to the food that u eat.(look at the countries that have hot weather, lots of insects and eat loads of spicy food, they don't get bitten as much as us the rest of us)

Hello - would have had a NDS yesterday but decided to go swimming for the second day in a row. The day before I just stocked up on a few bargains foodwise on things I needed.
Probably will be a low spend day again today. Here dead we lie because we did not choose

A few years ago i got 20 bites in one night on holiday in greece and was told by a pharmacist out there to take hayfever tablets (anti-hystamines) and to cut a lemon in half and rub it on the bites 3 times a day, till they stop itching. By the next day the redness had gone out of them Best advice i've ever had. Trust me It worked wonders. Any cheap hayfever tablets work. I use asda own now 99p
The other thing the pharmacist told me was if i'm prone to bites on holiday start taking anti-hystamines a week before i go on hols so they are already in my system.0
