Got a nice surprise today. My agency got me some temp work for next week. The only work they seem to be giving to me is exam inviligating. It is better than nothing. I have been applying for permanent work, but no luck so far.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130

Happy Easter everyone!:EasterBun Hope you are all well. I've had a dreadful month, frugalistically speaking, but had a great time, splashing out on exciting things like toilet rolls, bleach, new knobs for the cooker, a new hose (our current one was nearly 30 years old, bought the week Charles married Diana)!!
Anyway, we have no Easter plans, and as I mowed the lawn today, and deweeded, pruned and tidied up, I intend to have 4 days spent sitting in the dappled shadey bit of the garden, reading my library books.I have an empty washing bin, clean sheets, a full fridge, freezer and larder, and a spandy clean bungalow.
DH is not too bad, but fell over in the garden (hence my absence) and was badly bruised and shaken up. He hasn't very good balance. He's back in hospital in 3 weeks for an op - on my birthday. He wanted to postpone it, but there was no way I'd even let him think about it.
Anyway, hope you all have a great Easter and a Royal Wedding/May Day holiday weekend. I'm off to London next Thursday to see the decorations, and just hope William and Kate have a lovely day, and there are no Rent-A-Mob folk who'll disrupt it.

NOT a cheap week. MOT + work done on car
+ building costs + £3.00 off £10 spend in new tescos near work (so stocking up) = current account lower than it's been in 2 years (since paid off OD after getting current job).:(
But with the overtime i've done it should be ok and begin to balance out when i'm paid. just gotta breathe in and hold on till then.Well done with the firewood, 23rd, and good luck with the house move/tenants etc.
thank you. hopefully the plasterer finished today. that's one more thing done. so we can start DIY and cleaning downstairs tomorow. electiricians coming back saturday. it's all go go go! good luck with yours too!The best thing I have found for chicken pox soothing is a bath, and while you are running it, hang an old stocking full of (value) oats on the taps so the water goes through it.
risingfromtheashes - good luck with the 'waste ground' appeal. and good luck cerridwen with the continued forraging. (lets hope you dont live round the corner from each other!)
Lady lesley - have you changed your name? weren't you tr... farm? or are you someone else? or both?! i'm easily confused.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Tumptyteapot - Thank you for the tip on buying fruit trees and to anyone else who gave advice on this (havent read through the posts properly yet).
Got my £10 free groceries from milk and more on tuesday, but in return they have stopped delivering my regular milk!!!
Trying to be frugal but lots if expense at the moment.
Also backed into a fence at work the other day and i've got to pay for it to be repaired  Going to cost at least £50  so annoying:mad:0 -

That sounds absolutely gorgeous. We all love salmon. Do you just turn the edge over the make the stuffed crust or do you have to stick it down with anything??0 -
Not too bad on frugaldom today. Went to CBS, got DD1 massive Bratz movie van thing - it's huge. For £4! Got x2 filters for my dyson hoover for £10. Hope that this helps as apparently mine isn't a particularly popular model and a new head would cost me £48 from dyson themselves. I'll try ebay if needed but am hoping the new filters will really help.
Got bored half way through CBS so we just headed to the beach for 5 hours. Only £2 entrance, but it was a lovely quiet beach. I think we are going tomorrow with the rest of the family which should be brilliant. We took a picnic basket with cheap coke and sandwiches. It was fab.
hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather. x0 -

Yes I was but apparently it upset someone and I got banned. Its where I live and the sanctuary. So now Im just me.
You must be joking!!!! How can the name of a place upset anybody? Well, whether you are Lady Lesley, or Tr.... Farm, you're very welcome.

Does anyone know if you can "do" anything for chicken pox - am giving her ibuprofen and paracetamol (kid versions obviously) but I gave her some antihistamine last night in a desperate attempt to stop the itching. Also considered Lanacane (not sure if that's what it's called) - cream that stops itching!!! Haven't got any so can't read the label and don't know if it is suitable for children, or chicken pox. It was just something that popped into my head in the wee small hours. Was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas, she is really poorly.
Pop some bicarbonate of soda in a bath of warm water and just let her soak.Sealed pot member 735
