Thanks Dizzy, she was very restless during the night and have hardly had any sleep. She is now asleep on the sofa so we are being very quiet - DD2 is going fishing with my dad so it'll be just me and her today.
Does anyone know if you can "do" anything for chicken pox - am giving her ibuprofen and paracetamol (kid versions obviously) but I gave her some antihistamine last night in a desperate attempt to stop the itching. Also considered Lanacane (not sure if that's what it's called) - cream that stops itching!!! Haven't got any so can't read the label and don't know if it is suitable for children, or chicken pox. It was just something that popped into my head in the wee small hours. Was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas, she is really poorly.0 -
I think when I had chicken pox (100 years ago
) that my mum used calamine lotion.

We only used calamine on my lot too! I will have all of this to come again with DGD! Ugg what a thought!
I spent quite a bit yesterday, or I will have by the end of the week when the payments reach the bank etc etc.
I had to add on soap powder, washing up liquid and loo rolls! Ha the most important things that we needed and I forgot to add them to the shopping! Lucky I was able to amend the order and everything should be delivered today.
The loft ladder is ordered.
I bought the weedkiller, and the extension lead, and new string for the strimmer.
I also bought a few other gardening bits and pieces in £ land yesterday. So I have some roses to put in the garden now.
The food will last us, bar milk and fresh veg, till the end of the month, but I am way over my hopeful aims to have kept to £100 this month. Its double again.
I really have gone backwards with the spending this year and not forwards! Opps.
DS moved his stuff out, (well the big stuff) yesterday, so he is not coming home afterall, so I will indeed loose the taxcredits etc until DGD becomes under my guardianship as apposed to a LAC child, then i can claim for her.
Today I have to get back to the benefits offices etc etc and change my status.
The belt has to be tightened again.!This time I have got to get it right! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Calamine isn't recommended any more....maybe just because there's better stuff? Aqueous cream with calamine or Eurax is the "in thing" at the moment if you ask at the pharmacy counter. The Eurax I have been told definitely works and I have bought some in as ds has not had chicken pox yet. Hope she's better soon, poor little mite.0

My two LO's had chicken pox only a couple of months ago, and DD had it relaly bad. We tried lots of different lotions but we still found calamine was the most soothing for her.
Its such a terrible thing to have, I remember when I had mine at 18....

Thanks tumtypteapot and CRANKY40 for the advice. I think I'll go to the chemist this afternoon. She's happy at the moment, watching disney rubbish on tv and eating a cheese sandwich. She seems to be 'not too bad' today compared to yesterday, I think the nights are worst though. Hopefully she'll be better soon. x0
