How do you think I feel then ?
Theres a section on the Superscrimpers site where you could all add your comments and money saving tips. You lot would be brilliant at it. I forwarded the request for more realistic families to the directors. It reflects on me too because Im really poor and people think Im not. Everything I have is in the sanctuary. If you found the tips useful then please say so on the comments so the programme will start to be what YOU the viewers want it to be !!!
See you in a minute gulp if Im on tonight lol

so who are you in the program?!! how many times have you been on? I missed last weeks but have watched the 1st and 3rd

Im frightened to say in case I get picked on again "Down the lane forum" described me as an old dear.colour blind who didnt deep clean my kitchen. Well you have jerseys that wonder in and out the house and see. Its a farm for god sake.

Actually Im Lady Lesley and I will be portrayed as a fanatical tomato sauce maker and wine buff next week

ah very good!!!! hello there!!! hehe!!
Frugal living challenge - need to revisit its been.a while !! Need to reduce our debts!!
  • Been out in the garden all day today. Have painted just about everything except for the chickens. Garden is looking brilliant but still needs some work. I am shattered but needed the therapy as I left my bank card in a shop yesterday and had to cancel it last night!! I'm so silly, now have to travel 24 miles tomorrow to go into the branch to sort it all out. Oh, and DD has chicken pox - bless her. x

Lola - so pleased to hear Hannah will be ok. How are you doing? Must be so incredibly hard for Hannah's dad, it just unimaginable what he must be going through. Thinking of you. x

Not been keeping track of spending very well, seem to have money going out left, right and centre!!! £60.00 for a passport for my little one, £35 deposit for my DH friends stag do, £25.00 petrol, £50 at least food!!!! :o

Fortunately my husband will be recieving an extra £500 in his pay packet this month so this should help level out the finances. Thank goodness :T

Planted some carrot, peas, basil and garlic chives seeds the other day, have never grown anything before so will be very interesting to see if we can actually produce anything :rotfl:
Does anyone have any tips for growing the above? how often should i water?

Also would like to buy a small apple tree for my garden, where is the cheapest place to buy one from and other small trees?

    Welcome to the newbies :)
  • Lushappy - I have a cherry tree from Boring and Queuing. It cost £12 and they have a reasonable selection of fruit trees. Mr L sells them sometimes too but I can't vouch for the quality.

Well I didnt win the bids on ebay yesterday, so in the end it was a no spend day.
I have had to do a Mr A order though today as there is not much in to make complete meals. Lots of stuff gathered from Approved Foods etc, but not the full meals.
Anyway I am pleased that I have managed to get my order in a free delivery voucher, as It was spends over £50 and I spent £50.18! Delivery tomorrow.
However I did forget two major shopping needs! Washing up liquid and washing powder!.
I am totally out of the first and practically out of the latter.!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Things now underway for the move, but we'll be running two houses from now until 7th June while trying to get the repairs done at the new place.
good luck! that's what we're doing too. though we're having 2 houses for a little longer than we'd planned/needed as our tennat for our current house fell through, but it's not all bad as our total-rewire and half-re-plaster is taking a week longer than anticipated. (hopefully we've got a new one secured now.)
Fingers crossed - at least it'd keep you in work & your "foot in the door" with the council in case anything else comes up.
thanks. you're right, something is better than nothing. as the time is passing i'm getting more anxious in case i dont get it.

we had a great weekend! on saturday had a picknic with friends in the woods ( just took sandwiches and fruit), and found the lawnmower my OH wants at £20 cheaper than the standard £20 off.:)
on sunday we helped friends take down two trees that were too big and dangerous for their front garden. it was good fun, good exercise and we got to keep all the wood for firewood!:T And we still had enough energy to finish removing the wallpaper and loose plaster before the professionals come in today.
oh, and total unexpected bonus, for our tree-surgeon help our friend gave us her old mower.. the model up from the one we were going to buy! is that good karma or what!?!:j

I know there are some keen gardeners on here, so thought I'd ask if anyone knows what the following is please?

    Juliasplant-1.jpg

definately a Hebe. def not a weed.. unless it's growing somewhere she doesnt want it of course!
from a garden centre, one that size would probably be around £10 (though its many years since i worked in one so i hope i've remembered right).
if its the variety i think it is, it shouldnt grow very much bigger, it'll probably bush out into a little dome which she could trim back to keep it neet if she wants.

  • I've had a read through many of the links shown at the start (plan on getting the OH to join the site and look at all the ideas on food and making batches).

We have though now turned the heating off (DD2 is only 7 weeks old so can't have the house too cold). We have an open fire so I plan on building a wood store, the woods next to the house is almost an unlimited source of wood and at work too there are plenty of broken pallets I can cut up. Just a pity its not a back boiler!

Have had a clear out and know where we will put the chicken coop if we decide to go ahead with it. A little apprehnsive about a couple of things, so we are waiting for a friend to have his chickens delivered before we can see if it is truly for us. Not only cost savings but also we figure its a good groudning for the LO's.

Car boot is on the books for next weekend.
