Some people were asking about gaining loyalty points - remember if you use a credit card which earns points, you will be. I use Goldfish, and earn points on that.

  • Wonder if the price increase will lead to a better service?

  • Martin's posting of 23/2 says that the price of first class will rise today, yet the email received today says that the increase is due to take effect tomorrow. Does anyone know which is correct as I run a small business and if it is tomorrow, consider me on the way to the Post Office!

Just been to Royal Mail site and it says they go up from today.
I'm spitting teeth here because I knew this was coming up but thought I'd be back from holiday on 5th instead of today:(

Ah, well, I'll know better next time.

It still ticks me off that they have the cheek to raise the price when they give such rotten service!
    I'll catch up tomorrow!

Here's a thought: If you're posting something on a Friday to a business you may as well use 2nd class. 1st class would/should be delivered the next day (Saturday) but there will be no one there to process it until Monday.

not true, most regional mail centres work throughout the weekend and also on bank holiday mondays. deliveries however are not made on sundays or bhmondays, but are made the next working day.

Hi, I am reliably informed by an 'insider' that they don't have time to segregate 1st and 2nd class mail anyway. They are so short staffed that they are employing people who cannot read English, who regularly bring mail back undelivered. This is dumped in a 'big green box' do be dealt with later - and this includes registered mail. God help us.

    you have been misinformed.
mail is seperated into first and second class by machines which just need someone to tip the mail in, no mail centre is so short staffed that they can't have someone do that.
