Bargain - no. Good value - yes. There is a difference.
If I could 'thank' the above post more than once I would.MadThatter10 wrote: »And whats with the new passports?! OK, to all those who love giving their money away, and are happy for costs to spiral upwards way ahead of inflation to pay for poor financial descision making and mistakes by the government because you consider it 'good value' and passports are a luxury and therefore are happy to pay. Would you think the same way if the TV license were to go up 85% in 4 years, making it 269.17, after all that is only 73p a day, not much more than the cost of a newspaper - must be good value.................

I never said that I needed to like it, I was giving my opinion, I didn't know that wasn't allowed, my apologies! It was more of a jokey rant, but obviously that went straight over your head!0 -
Hold on - 10 years ago the cost of an adult passport was what, about £50ish?
They knew it had to be renewed this year so why haven't they been putting some money aside? Even with the price hike they'd have a lot less to pay on top, about £60? Is that really the difference between a foreign holiday and no holiday?
The Passport fees pay not only for the passport itself but fund consular and embassy help abroad should they need it. It's not cheap, but £8 a year for that protection is extremely good value if you need it. Trust me on that one.0 -
Print your own!
More seriously, a large chunk of the extra cost must come down to the fact home printing and hence forgery is easier than ever, so more sophisticated methods are needed...0
