Well it works out that 2 bags of GG lasts approx 1.5 months for my two rather than the 2 months the biokat lasted. I will be sticking with the GG though as the clumping and the reduction in smell out weighs the cost increase.

GG lasts longer for my 6 too which knocks off the price difference between BK and GG and makes it the same really.

The quality of GG is slightly better too IMHO so sticking to it.

Sunday, will be opening the new bag of GG, ordered 2 bags of the unscented one to try, will report later ;)
  • I've been using the BK for the past few days and I love it! Much less tracking and it smells like bubblegum.

Clumping isn't as good as GG but the fact I can't smell anything yet is great. I found GG started to smell liek a stale toilet after a few days even though I was scooping after each toilet!

    opinions divided then hahahah

    perhaps we should compare:

    number of cats
    number /type of litter boxes
what we feed them (as what goes in comes out)
    what else?

    :D

    number of cats: 2
number /type of litter boxes: 2 (Hooded and High Edged)
what we feed them (as what goes in comes out): Salem has Harringtons Chicken and Rice dry food and Gizmo has just started a raw diet but was eating Sheba pouches (he used to poop for England).
what else: I do still have a little litter left (which I will be using to top up the trays tonight) so it may stretch a little longer than I've estimated it will. Plus over the last couple of weeks hubby has been doing the main of the litter tray cleans as he has been off work, now he’s back at work I will be seeing if the litter lasts longer. I’m sure he throws clean litter away when you don’t need to, he say's he doesn't but we will see.

ETA: they are both indoor cats

    Not a bad idea GR!

    - 2 kittens - 1 male, 1 female, above 1kg in weight each.
    - Large closed top litter tray x1 plus small corner tray x1
    - 40g purely kitten sachet in morn each, 100g Eden dry left out throughout the day and 20g james well beloved turkey dry mixed with water in evening each
    - Indoor cats

Have to say, since getting them on a better diet (they were on royal canin and felix) their poops hardly smell at all! They used t omake my stomach turn but now I have no issue with clearing out as soon as it's been dropped :p

OMG We are hoping to get a rescue cat in about a month, so I have just read through this thread and I now have less idea of what to get than before and that was no idea at all :D:D

Especially as someone on my thread suggested waiting to see what the cat is used to. Suppose it is used to a brand/type that we cannot get locally

So ...... trial continues & now after having BK (micro fresh) in Archie's tray & GG in Mia's tray for 2 weeks I will stick with my original findings that ......
I like the GG, in terms of how long it lasts, how good it is at clumping and it's scent.

However, I don't like the tracking.....

Still agree that the GG is slightly better at clumping (which I thought I'd never say as have found the BK fab!) and therefore def easier to clean out (and much less hitting a clump & breaking it up my mistake!) BUT ..... that tracking really lets it down and, if it wasn't just in the one room (and therefore fairly easy to contain just now) would probably be driving me nuts by now! :(

Have ordered a new load of BK to keep us going and will try to keep stock levels high in case we're snowed in

Have cleared out the garage & the huge bag of the (T stuff :shhh: that shall not be mentioned ;)) and the horrid BK are all going to the rescue on Sunday:T

Have 4 bags of (good) BK in the emergency bin and 4 bags to use.

I did have a small problem as they seem to have changed the BK packaging to the same plastic type stuff as the GG - and 3 bags arrived holed  so fingers crossed that's sorted quickly!

Also still have a 14kg & 2 x 7kg of the GG to use so that'll keep Mia going for a while.

I do like it .... and if it was on offer again would prob buy for her tray
    perhaps we should compare:

number of cats 1 Male / 1 Female - who HATE each other :( - did try to rehome Mia but it didn't work so have her back. Long term solution - haven't a clue but currently separated into different parts of the house & both seem happy
number /type of litter boxes 1 each - both the ENORMOUS Bella trays which take 1.5 bags to fill  (Archie is really big and couldn't turn around in smaller trays - but will only go in a covered on so ..... *sigh*) Might look at a smaller tray if they remain separated BUT cost of replacing tray would probably wipe out savings in litter :(
what we feed them (as what goes in comes out) Both 1 x pouch twice a day & dry
what else? Sure I'll think of something in a mo!

    :D

welcome :) - I would stick with what kitty is on when s/he arrives and then if it isn't economical or nice, look at other litters. Congrats on your impending arrival :T

  • Didn't get a scoop this time as was over £25 - it will be being added when I'm struggling to get to min for free delivery

GR would be interested to know it that GG tracks as much as the other one as that really is the only reason I don't like it
